Default NOTBPW - A Game of Stones... (and DeColts)

Date: Saturday afternoon in early December 2015...
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, (The Maritimes) Canada...

In a large office with incredible mountain views, five empty chairs surrounding a luxerious table are soon filled by five potentially unlikely men and women... Representing NOTBPW were Dan Stone Jr., head booker Victoria Stone-McFly and the owner of the company: Jeremy Stone... Across the table from them, were Alex and Jack DeColt, who had been invited to speak with the Stones earlier that week...

Jeremy Stone: "Welcome to North of the Border Pro Wrestling gentlemen... As you both know, as of Monday of this week, Canadian Golden Combat Wrestling, and all of its commercial entities are owned by myself, and my family... We're here today, because as the Owner and Head Booker of CGC, we need to discuss with you the potential of members of your roster... We're looking at bringing in a few names to bolster our own, as well as starting a developmental terriroty..."

For the next two hours, Alex and Jack DeColt explained the pros and cons of all of their wrestlers... Beginning with their brother Ricky DeColt, and working all the way down the card to The Montreal Mafia... Over the course of the two hours, Dan, Victoria and Jeremy heard Alex and Jack plead their case for a number of impressive talents, and the three Stone siblings became increasingly excited by what they were hearing... However, Jeremy stressed that for the next six months or so, any signings will happen at a steady pace... Not all in one go in some kind of 'invasion' angle... and that he was looking to bring in maybe half a dozen names...

Alex and Jack were surprised by Jeremy's decision, and explained that they were going to find it very hard to name just six guys to recommend that Jeremy moves across to NOTBPW... This became even more difficult when Jeremy insisted that Jack and Ricky DeColt would be the first two... and that there were just four spots still available... With an ageing roster, particularly in the Main Event and Upper Mid Card ranks, Jeremy knew he needed some fresh faces... and he knew he could afford to lose some lower card talents to make room for more incoming signings from elsewhere in the coming months... Eventually, the four names that the five men and women came up with were:

Thrill Seeker
'The Stud' Christian Price
Joey Poison
and the monster that is Gargantuan

[Gargantuan is ready to live up to the hype surrounding him...]

Although all six men are north of 30 years old, they all have a bright future in this business, and are all arguably in the peak of their careers... Over the next six months, the six men would debut, and begin their NOTBPW runs... With Jeremy Stone in charge... Victoria Stone-McFly with the book... and Dan Stone Jr. a member of the booking committee, Their careers, and NOTBPW were in good hands...

Welcome to North of the Border Pro Wrestling: A Game of Stones...

[OOC Notes:

This diary will be different to any other I've started before... The main difference being that I've already played well over a year in-game, and the company will have changed a LOT in that time... So, for the first number of posts, you'll see a re-cap/overview of what has happened both in-game, and within the company...

Before I go any further, I need to thank the following people: Uncrewed , my excellent co-writer for our WWE game: WWE 2016: Here We Go (Again)'... The very talented King Bison who, in a forum FULL of fantastic c-verse renderers, has quickly become my favourite, and my 'go-to' guy for re-renders... He's pretty much done full body renders for my entire roster, and then some!! Kijar, michgcs, Nobby_McDonald, Happy0wns, Satyr24, Smasher1311, merrykeiran2, vince123, jscotty, RKOwnage, Christmas_ape, and anyone else who has every predicted on, commented on, or helped me with one of my previous diaries... I truly love doing this, and couldn't have done any of it without your support, wisdom, advice, and 'humour'... So thanks...]

Very excited for this one!

I haven't played a C-Verse game in awhile but I believe that Gargantuan was very over and Russian? Idk but I signed him in one of my games and had him as a bodyguard for one of the heel guys.

Thank you man. He is definitely NOT Russian But he's a big, bad, Canadian. And he's had one heck of a year!! His stats are great, 92 Star Quality + 82 Charisma = Top Guy

Thanks man, and thanks for all your help!! Let's get a recap of my first few months up...

Part Two: January Week One, 2016 Ė March Week Four, 2016...

As early as January 2016, Jack and Ricky DeColt debuted on NOTBPW television, and immediately aligned themselves with their brother Steve DeColt ... The storyline on the show was that Steve had 'opened the door' for his brothers to come in and enter the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup... The two hungry DeColts wanted to make an impact on their first night though, so in the Main Event they attacked Sean McFly and Duane Stone ... McFly and Stone were competing to determine the Number One Contender for Tim Westybrook's Canadian Title, but both were left battered and bruised, and out of action for a month! Westybrook was then forced to fight Steve DeColt at January's Big City Brawl event... Steve would end Westybrook's reign at just six weeks, and capture his seventh World Title...

[Jack and Ricky DeColt knew how to make an impact around here...]

February saw the debut of Gargantuan , who began winning squash matches on NOTBPW Championship Wrestling... Shooter Sean Deeley began working his way up the card towards the Main Event scene... and Cameron Vessey put in a string of impressive performances as Television Champion...

In March Week One, Jack and Ricky entered and WON the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup, defeating Dan and Duane Stone in the finals... 'The Stud' Christian Price appeared on Television for the first time since the collapse of CGC, and won a couple of matches... While Iron Might and The CanAm Blondes fought over the right to face Brown and Haynes for the Tag Team Titles...

I really enjoyed my first few months... and my four CGC signings were doing very well... I considered keeping it at four... But I had a few ideas I wanted to try with the next two guys...

The women's division was starting to become hard for me to book at this point... I didn't know ANY of the characters, having not even attempted a women's division in my previous NOTBPW saves/diary... To top it off, one of my top female talents: Sally Anne Christianson picked up a major concussion in February, and will miss over a YEAR of action...

A lot of my 'older', more 'grizzled' lower mid carders were starting to become difficult backstage, and difficult to work with around this time...

Part Three: April Week One, 2016 – June Week Four, 2016...

In April, former CGC tag team specialist Thrill Seeker made his first appearance as a NOTBPW star, fighting Jacob Jett as a mystery opponent at Day Two of the DeColt Wrestle Festival... The two day event was brought across to NOTBPW when CGC was purchased by The Stones... Across the two day event, Jeremy Stone, Dan Stone Jr., Sean McFly, Steve DeColt, Jack DeColt AND Ricky DeColt all competed in matches... As did former CGC stars: Dan DaLay and Bobby Thomas , although both men were just making a one-off appearance on the show... For now...

April saw a number of large changes for NOTBPW... Following a string of good financial months, I opened NAW (Northern Acadamy of Wrestling)... A developmental fed. for some of my younger and lesser used talents to go and work to gain experience... Teenager Robby Griffin had just debuted from the House of Stone... and he went down to NAW with his brother Mark Griffin... Sonny Wildside, who I have high hopes for... Donte Dunn (another signing from CGC that was yet to debut)... along with a few other signings I hadn't yet debuted... Like Ernest Youngman, The Ring Generals, Aldous Blackfriar, and Mutant to name a few...

[Son of legendary CGC competitor Dan DaLay – Robin DaLay joins NOTBPW Developmental...]

The tag team known as Iron Might (Tim Westybrook and Mighty Cavanagh) captured the Tag Team Titles from Brown and Haynes in April of 2016... However they would lose the Belts again in May to their rivals The CanAm Blondes ... Also in May, Cameron Vessey finally dropped his Television Championship after an impressive NINE Title defences, over nine months... Harrison Hash was the man to finally best him...

The final signing from CGC: Joey Poison arrived in NOTBPW in May 2016... Unfortunately for Joey, much like Sally Anne Christianson , he suffered a major concussion in one of his first matches, and will miss over 13 months of action... (at the time of writing this, he's still out... For another three + months)... Flash caused the injury, and received a lot of backstage heat from it... So I released him from his contract... I also let Mountie Mann, Alexander Robinson, and Lee Bennett go in May...

It was in June that I decided to axe the women's division within the company... With Sally Anne Christianson out injured very long term, and the other girls pulling very poor ratings, I took the decision to end it... In truth, I wasn't enjoying that much anyway, as the matches were becoming a little repetitive with such a small roster... Recently, the Canadian Women's Wrestling Federation (CWWF) opened it's doors, and signed almost ALL of my original women's roster to contracts... It was nice to see Sally Anne Christianson get signed after she recovered from her serious injury...

Very hyped for this. Can I ask how you set it up n your database? Was it simply a case of setting NOTB as the owners of CGC?

Ahhhh Gargantuan is going to squash everyone! I'm so excited to see this kind of work from you again, my friend! So very, very excited. McFly is terrific, CanAm Blondes are great, and Mutant is a good developmental sign. I have a few suggestions for you as well.

This one is going to be great, and I can't wait to be along for the entirety of another of your projects.

Thank you brother. First show is coming very soon... Need to keep everyone updated on what's happened so far in-game though. I'm almost 18 months in now so need to catch everyone up.

Yeah of course you can. I just assigned the CGC talents I mentioned to NOTBPW contracts in the editor. I normally like to start a C-verse game with my own little twist or huge difference. Occasionally I'll kill someone off etc! I like breaking from the norm basically. As for the rest of CGC, I let them continue as a promotion, and have stolen some more talent from them since. Their main draw at the moment is Eddie Peak, who is under PPA deal with both CGC and TCW. So they're doing okay.

I'd love to hear your suggestions my friend. PM me if you like? Garg, McFly, CanAm Blondes, Mutant, the list goes on and on. You didn't even mention my two favourite families!! The DeColts and The Stones!!

Good to have you on board my friend... Let's keep this rolling shall we... Three more months...

Part Four: July Week One, 2016 Ė September Week Four, 2016...

In July, I made the decision to sign Alex DeColt to a contract, and made him a heel 'authority figure'... I also promoted Donte Dunn from developmental after creating some space for some enhancement talents... AND, I signed Trent Shaffer , a former CGC Main Eventer, who had spent a littler over a year working in United States Pro Wrestling Ė The then Number One company in the world! Again, Trent is north of 30... But only just, and I had big plans for him as one of my lead babyfaces going forward...

Harrison Hash lost his Television Title to John Maverick in July of 2016... Only for Maverick's second reign to end just over a later month... Losing the Gold to the debuting James 'Mainstream' Hernandez ... James Hernandez came to us from SWF, and to this date is probably the biggest signing I've made so far... With the exception of one that hasn't debuted yet that is... He's got a lot of potential, and I intend to book him strong in the coming months/years...

[James 'Mainstream' Hernandez comes to NOTBPW with a lot of expectation...]

Jacob Jett and Thrill Seeker competed in a 'Best of Five Series', but after the fifth match went to a tie and scored an 81 rating, they decided to team up and form 'World's Most Wanted'... A month into their run as a team, they won the Tag Team Titles from The Can Am Blondes , who for all their dominance in the tag team division of NOTBPW over the past decade, were only three time Champions... Also in August, a team that would go on to become World's Most Wanted's fierce rivals began teaming together: Christian Price and Cameron Vessey ...

In late August I made the switch to FULL Sports Entertainment in my product... Since I began the game, I gradually made NOTBPW into a slightly more 'Sports Entertainment Friendly' company... But with declining ratings... declining 'importance' in Canada... and then realising my top three workers were DeColts, I knew I needed a more 'DeColt Friendly' product... and boy did it work! I prefer to book this kind of company, and I began creating more storylines and running short but concise segments on the show... It played to my roster's strengths in general too... Unfortunately, it might mean that guys like Sean McFly, Johnny Bloodstone and Duane Stone don't fit in so much anymore... But to be fair, in all three cases, their best days are behind them anyway...

Finally for this round-up, September saw the break-up of the legendary Iron Might Tag Team... Since May 2011, Tim Westybrook and Mighty Cavanagh have teamed up to become an absolute force to be reckoned with... They're former Tag Team Champions, and former Ed Henson Memorial Cup Winners... But after a lengthy feud with The CanAm Blondes , culminating in another loss on pay-per-view, Westybrook took matters into his own hands and brutally assaulted Cavanagh... Cavanagh would then spend a few months on the shelf...

[Heel Tim Westybrook, is a dangerous Tim Westybrook...]

Ahhhh I was waiting for the One Star Bandit to come out... Thanks to whoever gave me five though! In honour of the One Star 'rating', here comes another update...

Part Five: October Week One, 2016 – December Week Four, 2016...

Early in October, Trent Shaffer worked his way to a Title shot against Steve DeColt ... Unbelievably, Shaffer won, capturing his first World Championship! Recently turned heel Tim Westybrook viciously beat up James 'Mainstream' Hernandez at October Obliteration, and comfortably defeated him to win the Television Championship... and former CGC competitor Dan DaLay showed up as Derek Frost's mystery tag team partner... Going on to team up full time as a hard-hitting, grizzled veteran tag team...

One of the biggest signings NOTBPW made in 2016 has to be the man we now call 'RDJ'... Ricky Dale Johnson ...! For twenty years, RDJ was a huge draw in Total Championship Wrestling... Recently, in terms of babyface figureheads, he's been second to only Rocky Golden in that company... It was great to steal him away for a long contract... Just one month before Rocky left them for USPW too!! Unfortunately, RDJ is massively on the time decline (much like a number of other names on my roster), so I've used him very sporadically... Nowadays, you can find him alongside Peter Michaels and Tom Townsend on my announce desk... BUT... His in-ring career is FAR from over...

[Ricky Dale Johnson ('RDJ') made the jump to NOTBPW...]

In November... TCW would lose yet another big name to us... I made sure my user character: Jeremy Stone buried the hatchet with his youngest brother: Edd Stone ... Edd's first order of business, was to team with his brother Duane Stone , and officially rejoin the family... The four Stone brothers battled the four DeColt brothers at Winter War in an epic encounter that will live long in the memory... Such was the viciousness along with obvious signs of loyalty of Edd's performance Jeremy, Duane and Dan Stone Jr. accepted their brother as 'one of them'... That was until he completely destroyed their brother-in-law Sean McFly in an unprovoked attack... The family is now torn apart again, and it's all because of Edd...

[Edd Stone would later come 'home' to NOTBPW...]

November also saw Steve DeColt turn into the company's top babyface... and he'd go on to feud with his brothers Ricky and Jack DeColt ... The second family to break up during this period!!... I signed The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler) from NYCW, and immediately put them with Shooter Sean Deeley , to learn from his Main Event experience... Cameron Vessey and Christian Price captured the NOTBPW Tag Team Titles from World's Most Wanted ... AND, Duane Stone took Edd's side in the Stone Family War... Turning heel in the process...

As for the rest of the wrestling world, I thought I'd update you a little on the End Of Year Awards, 2016:
