Comments: While I loved the Austin angle in the suit on Raw, I agree with Russo at the moment--WCW has the stars.

Also...I'd still be pissed that Steiner lost to Ahmed f'n Johnson and might have permanently switched to WCW...

I think WCW's uppercard makes this week a little interesting, but, that undercard is rough (from a viewer standpoint, not a booking standpoint)

I'll get to the predictions when I'm not on my phone but, just based off the Russo conversation, how do WCW and WWF stack up, star power wise?

I’m not sure of the exact numbers off the top of my head (I’m also currently on my phone ) but even though WWF are International and WCW are only national, WCW are walking the “National Battle” every month by a clear 200-300 points....a gap which I HAD closed substantially up until I took over WCW as well, managing to widen the gap all over again as the WCW guys popularity rose...I’ll post the actual stats once I fire the game up again...

....incidentally, quite how long WWF are going to stay international im not sure, because despite the fact that not a single show has resulted in the “this show lost you popularity” note (in fact I usually gain popularity) the actual “importance” of the game area’s is dropping pretty regularly. Unfortunately I’m not savvy enough with the game to know how to stop that happening, a bit like I don’t know why Bret Hart is only autopushing to upper-midcard despite being a franchise player and more over than say Nelson “Mable” Knight who IS auto pushing as a main eventer but hey ho, it doesn’t stop me plodding along

What's Hart's wrestling style? If he's in as a Tecnhnician rather than an Entertainer/Regular than Big Vis's Menace + presumably Brawler/Entertainer/Regular + destiny roll may make him better suited to the WWF.

As for the regions... If regional importance is fluctuating, won't that effect both companies more or less equally? Or are WCW's strongholds in areas on the up, and yours the ones failing?

Preview for WWF Raw is War, Week 2, September 1997

Steve Austin vs. Chris Jericho
Comments: He may even get the win outright before shenanigans occur.

Scott Steiner & Dude Love vs. Brian Pillman & Goldust
Comments: Practically a coin flip, but the face duo are fractionally bigger names.

Bradshaw vs. Kama
Comments: Not an easy choice, but Kama's surely the low man on the Nation totempole these days.

Harlem Heat vs. The Harris Boys
Comments: I don't know that anyone's ever pushed the Harris Boys in a diary, and I don't see it happening here.

Rey Mysterio vs. Rich Steiner
Comments: Just brings to mind late-stage WCW where Heavyweight A (often a Steiner) would smash Cruiserweights B, C and sometimes D on the regular... I'm hoping this won't happen here.

WWF European Title Match
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Jake Roberts
Comments: Well, Hardy retains, somehow. Raven doesn't want Jake to be successeful or happy... and I'm now wondering idly if Jake's the biggest name in 80s/90s wrestling never to have held any WWF/WCW title.

WCW Championship: Steel Cage Match
Hollywood Hogan (c) vs. Chris Benoit
Comments: Tough call. I could see Benoit getting the DQ win in real life through interference, but in-game I can't see Hogan accepting even that.

Curt Hennig & Dallas Page vs. Adam Copeland & Christian Cage
Comments: Curt & Page are bigger names than Adam & Cage, even if they have the same letters.

Brad Armstrong vs. Mortis
Comments:

Bill Goldberg vs. Johnny Grunge
Comments:

Jim Duggan vs. Lance Storm
Comments: I'm pretty sure Duggan tried to rally the USA!! USA!! against Storm in 2000... I think he'll be about as successful here.

WCW Television Title Match
Lord Steven Regal (c) vs. Scotty Riggs
Comments: WCW has some utter rubbish in its undercard, doesn't it?

Vader & Bam Bam Bigelow vs. The Faces of Fear
Comment: How to out-hoss Norton/Warlord...

An idea: Stick Warlord with TFOF, bring back Kevin Sullivan, and boom - new Dungeon!

Comments: This week just gone? Nitro live, tape Raw. This week just coming? Russo's booked singles matches with Armstrong, Grunge, Duggan and Riggs so I'm watching Raw... but I swear if the title goes on one of those guys, I'll change the channel!

Steve Austin
Steiner and Dude - This pairing could have some really fun banter.
Bradshaw
Harlem Heat
Rich Steiner - The loss of some guys to WCW could be just the ticket to put the M$C back on the map a bit.
Matt Hardy

Hollywood Hogan - This is 1997. I don't care what universe it's in, Chris Benoit isn't defeating Hogan in 1997. Try again in 2003.
A&C - They need a big win to establish why they're in the TOW, this is a good place for that.
Mortis
Goldberg
Lance Storm
Lord Regal
Vader and Bigelow - Lordy lordy, this match will be ugly and brutal.

Something tells me I'd have watched more of the WWF this past week. I wish I could say I had a concrete reason why, but I don't.

Week 2, September 1997
Breslin Center (East Lansing, Michigan)
ATT: 14,131
TV: 34.37

Quote:

There’s no time for theatrics tonight.....because we are opening the show slap bang in the middle of the ring, with the man that just last week felt the bite of the Rattlesnake, as Stone Cold Steve Austin did what no one that came before him ever dared to do.....and that’s lay his hands on the Boss, dropping him on live tv with the Stone Cold Stunner......

....Vince McMahon isn’t alone however....far from it....in fact the ring is filled with a sea of humanity....because along with the usual suspects in Brian Pillman, Arn Anderson, Ric Flair and Kane, he is also surrounded by the Nation of Domination, as well as Ted DiBiase and his Million Dollar Corporation.....

....McMahon says that last week, a felony took place on live TV....an assault....an unprovoked attack on the chairman of a multi million dollar corporation.....not a wrestler.....not even a retired wrestler.....but an innocent bystander who's only crime was to offer an opportunity of a lifetime.....

".....Stone Cold Steve Austin, what you did last week was a step to far by anyone's standards....Vincent Kennedy McMahon is NOT an active wrestler.....Vincent Kennedy McMahon is NOT a trained professional.....but by god what Vincent Kennedy McMahon IS, is YOUR boss Mr. Austin......"

.....Vince says that because of his actions last week, Steve Austin could be suspended.......he could be fired......hell, Vince could have him arrested, prosecuted, and thrown in jail.....but where would the fun in that be?....Vince says that he's not a vindictive man, but it's clear that certain people need to be reminded of the one simple rule around here......

".....you don't cross the boss......so Mr. Austin, I'm sure you've already figured this out for yourself, after all while your decision last week proves you ARE clearly stupid, even a two year old could figure out the fact that you will NOT be facing Ahmed Johnson for the WWF Title at Ground Zero....no, as much as it pains me to say so, that honour will be going to Kevin Nash......in fact Mr. Austin, you can forget about facing ANYONE for the WWF Title at ANY time, because you're going to have your hands full.....you see, I'm not firing you.....I'm not suspending you.....I'm not having you arrested.....what I AM doing....is declaring open season on Stone Cold Steve Austin....."

.....Vince says that fortunately, while Steve Austin may be too stupid so see a golden opportunity when it's staring him in the face, not everyone on the roster is quite so thick headed.....and these men you see standing before you right now, are just a fraction of the number of men waiting to take out Stone Cold....because taking out Stone Cold is now THE number one guaranteed way to gold here in the WWF......and what is it you're so fond of saying?....

".....don't trust anyone?.....well that is most certainly the case for you....because friend or foe, there won't be a man here in the WWF that you can trust......oh, and don't think you can just hide....because tonight, you're going to be right here in the middle of this ring, when you face Chris Jericho in our main event......and to borrow a term from the New Age Outlaws, to the rest of the WWF roster, I got two words for ya........

........Happy Hunting......."

......McMahon is looking particularly pleased with himself....at least he is until the Titantron flickers to life to reveal the man himself, Stone Cold Steve Austin.....it's not clear where he is, but wherever he is he is clearly somewhere near a monitor because he (along with presumably the rest of the WWF roster) heard everything that Vince just said....with somewhat of a smile on his face he repeats his statement from last week, thanking McMahon.....

".....for being the stupidest sumbitch in this whole damn arena.....what, you think your little announcement is supposed to scare me? I'm I supposed to be shaking in my little black boots about now? Well uh-uh, that ain't gonna happen.....you wanna declare open season on Stone Cold Steve Austin then you go right ahead, because all that means is that I don't have to go looking for people's asses to whip, they're gonna come to me.....

......you can stand out there in your stupid little corporate suit, with your stupid little corporate hair cut, flapping your big corporate mouth, because it ain't gonna get you anywhere....I dropped you on your ass last week and I'll do it again any time I damn well like....see the fact of the matter is son, Stone Cold Steve Austin does what he wants, when he wants to do it and there ain't a damn thing that......"

......hold that thought.....because before Austin can finish his sentence he is blindsided from behind by Savio Vega....a man clearly looking to cash that open season ticket....who nails Austin from behind....

.....he manages to get a few shots in, but it is only a few, before Austin quickly turns the tides, before slamming Vega hard into a wall and then stomping him all the way down to the floor, where he proceeds to walk that proverbial mud hole dry.....Austin dusts himself off with Savio down and out on the concrete before turning back to the camera and finishing his sentence....

"......anyone can do about it.....you're declaring open season on Stone Cold Steve Austin? Well Stone Cold Steve Austin is declaring open season on the entire WWF.....and as for those jackasses you've got in the ring with you right now, all their asses belong to Steve Austin....and that's the bottom line, because Stone Cold said so......."

.....with that Austin walks out of shot, as McMahon turns to the men in the ring, asking them what they are waiting for?.....

".....go and get that son of a bitch....."

Rating: A*

VS.

It's time for yet ANOTHER European Title defence from young Matt Hardy....although this is without a doubt the toughest test of his short reign (and interestingly enough his second face vs. face encounter in as many weeks) because his opponent tonight is none other than the rejuvenated Jake "The Snake" Roberts....although as Jim Ross rightly points out, Matt Hardy has currently held more gold here in the WWF in the space of a few years than Roberts has held in a decade, stating that Jake Roberts (along with possibly Jimmy Snuka) is perhaps the biggest name in wrestling to have never won a major championship.....although that could well change tonight.....

.....Matt Hardy has come a long way in the space of a year (because this time last year, he and his brother were being tutored out of enhancement level by the Legion of Doom) and gone even further in the space of a few months since the New Age Outlaws took his brother and tag team partner Jeff Hardy out of commission, shocking the world when he pinned the Rock to capture this Championship that he defends so proudly.....and passionately....because for a face vs. face match there is plenty of intensity in this one, with Hardy more than holding his own against veteran Roberts.....in fact it gets so intense that both Roberts and Hardy collide with not only each other, but the official as well, and the referee goes down in a heap.......

.....which is when Raven comes running down the aisle, sliding into the ring just as Hardy and Roberts are getting back to their feet.....

.....Jake backs up a step, clearly anticipating a Raven attack.....and attack he does.....except it's not Roberts that is on the receiving end.....it's Matt Hardy.....because Raven snatches him by the head, before driving him to the mat with an Evenflow DDT.....

.....Jake looks shocked by this development, but Raven just smirks, telling Jake that he may be the Deity of the Damned, but he's always been a benevolent deity.....last week he taketh away.....so tonight he giveth's.....so pin Matt Hardy, claim his prize.....

"....and show these people that a snake by any other name, is still a snake...."

......Roberts stares at Raven for a moment, before slithering over to revive the official, leaving Rick Rude to revel in the fact that despite his claims of being a better man, at the end of the day man's lust for glory will always win out....

......Jake finally succeeds in rousing the referee, leaving Raven to cackle, telling the Snake that all he has to do is make the cover.....and that may well be true, but that's not what Jake is doing....in fact he's having a conversation with the groggy official, and as he points over towards Rave, it seems as though he's explaining EXACTLY what has just gone down....and because of the outside interference, the official has little choice but to call for the bell, disqualifying Jake Roberts.....maybe the Snake really is a changed man after all.

Winner: ......and Still WWF European Champion......Matt Hardy (via Disqualification)
Rating: B-

Quote:

Raven looks on absolutely disgusted as Jake helps Matt Hardy to his feet, presenting the youngster with his European Championship and raising his hand in victory, so disgusted in fact that he simply shakes his head and walks sullenly to the back....which is exactly where we are going next, because Dok Hendrix is standing by with Al Snow and Chris Candido....

.....Hendrix says that last week, the New Age Outlaws delivered a stark warning to their Ground Zero opponents, with the Road Dogg 100% guaranteeing that Snow and Candido will NOT win the WWF Tag Team Titles....not only that, he seemed to dismiss the Challengers as credible opponents full stop, stating that they were nothing more than a comedy team who are going to get hurt stepping in the ring with the Outlaws....

.....Candido shakes his head, asking Hendrix if he thinks there is anything funny about Chris Candido?....He says this Title shot is no laughing matter, and he's never been more serious about ANYTHING in his life....he says that he's been a part of this team for six months now....six long....long months....and now all of that is FINALLY going to pay off....because they WILL defeat the New Age Outlaws at Ground Zero.....and they WILL become the new WWF Tag Team Champions......Candido pauses to look at his partner for a moment, who appears to be lost in conversation with Head, before finishing with.....

".....even if I have to do it by myself....."

....Snow seemed to finally hear that last comment, turning to Candido with a smile.....

".....by yourself?....you won't have to do it by yourself superfriend.....you've got your old buddy Al Snow with you............what?...yes and you.....and Head too......she's going to be there....but that's not all you're going to have, no, no, no my little partner in crime......because not only did your best friend in the world, Al Snow, personally arrange this match.....for YOU....I also arranged a little added bonus.....something that's guaranteed to turn that frown upside down........

.....Al Snow steps aside with a flourish, indicating to someone just off camera....however as they come walking into shot, Candido looks far from pleased........

.....to see his old manager Sunny walk (somewhat meekly considering her usual confident personality) into shot....

....Candido turns to Snow, asking what the hell he's playing at....and more importantly, what in the hell is SHE doing here?....

.....Snow looks a little taken aback by that reaction....telling his partner that he thought he would be pleased......

".....PLEASED???.....why would I be pleased?.....this "woman" is nothing more than a god damn gold digger.....a gold digger that stabbed me in the back the first chance she got.....the only thing she cares about is herself....."

....Snow says that he thought it would be nice for his partner to have his own valet....after all, he knows that Chris and Head don't really get on....so when Al suggested to Sunny that she might like to join the Superfriends, she jumped at the opportunity.....

"....yeah of course she did....because she's just lost her meal ticket....her SECOND meal ticket actually....this woman is a damn black widow....first Hunter Hearst Helmsley.....who's gone....then Shawn Michaels, who's ALSO gone.....this woman is like the kiss of death for WWF careers, do you want to be next?...."

....Sunny tells Chris that it's not like that....she's had a little bit of bad luck recently sure, but if there's one thing she knows it's how to manage Champions....she says she's not a gold digger, she's just ambitious, and when she was managing Chris Candido, he didn't share in her ambition.....

".....but look at you now....a new man....an ambitious man....a man with title aspirations.....in fact, if anything, you could say that our little temporary separation was the best thing to ever happen to you....so you're welcome for that....."

....Sunny steps in closer to Candido, and runs a finger seductively along his chest, telling him that after Ground Zero, when that WWF Tag Team Title belt is around his waist....he can thank her properly....

.....Candido bats the hand away, angrily turning to his partner and telling Snow to keep this damn b!tch away from me, before storming off, leaving Snow, Sunny and Dok standing there....Sunny turns to Snow with a sultry smile on her face, but Al quickly backs off....

".....woah, woah, no you don't.....you just concentrate on making Skippy happy.....Head gets jealous.....she'll claw your eyes out missy.....and mine too.....now come on, lets go and cheer that sourpuss up...."

....and with that the pair leave, but not before Sunny has blown a kiss to Hendrix on her way out.

Rating: B+

VS.

Rich Steiner picked up a pretty big win last week when he defeated Jake "The Snake" Roberts....granted Jake is hardly in his prime, and it took the distraction caused by Raven to do it, but a win is a win and that one is in the books....tonight however he is up against someone yet to even reach his prime, because at the ripe young age of 22, Rey Mysterio still has plenty of time to improve even more.....

....of course, Steiner was always going to have the size and strength advantage here....but that is only going to benefit him if he can actually catch hold of his opponent, because young Rey is streaking around the ring like greased lightning, hitting and moving and generally p!ssing Rich Steiner off.....of course Steiner has something that Rey doesn't....a manager at ringside who isn't afraid to stretch the rules to give his man the advantage, which is the only reason Steiner is finally able to take control of this contest.....

....once in control Rich slows the match right down and goes to work wearing his opponent out with impact power moves and suplexes that send Mysterio soaring across the ring like he was nothing, at least until Rey is able to catch Rich's arm on a Steinerline attempt, rotate 180 degrees around his body....and plant Steiner to the mat with a DDT....and from there Rey is straight back on the offence....and looks to be a show in for victory until.........

.....Jeff Jarrett comes running down the ring...Guitar in hand.....

....DiBiase hops onto the apron to cause the distraction, and Double J slides into the ring....he nails Rey with a knee to the small of the back that sends him into the waiting arms of Steiner, who hooks Mysterio's arms behind his back, leaving him wide open for an Acoustic Equaliser shot from Jarrett......

.....except it's a shot that never lands.....

.....because Stone Cold Steve Austin comes flying out of the crowd and into the ring, where he spins Jarrett around and drops him with a Stone Cold Stunner.....

.....Steiner charges at Austin, but he's met with a kick to the gut and a Stunner of his own, before Austin flips off both men....AND his former manager Ted DiBiase, before bailing again back into the crowd.....

.....Rude asks Jim Ross what the hell Steve Austin is playing at, but as Ross rightly points out, Stone Cold has declared an open season on his own, and the Million Dollar Corporation just got took out.....

......Mysterio quickly hops up to the top rope and comes off with a diving splash....hooking the leg as the official counts the one, the two.....and the three.....big win for little Rey.

We head to the back once more following that....and we find Dok Hendrix standing by with the seven foot tall (rather intense looking) Psycho Sid....Dok says that last week Sid went to war with Ahmed Johnson, and could well have been standing here as the WWF Champion right now had it not been for the interference of two men that Sid knows very well....the Nature Boy Ric Flair and The Enforcer Arn Anderson.....presumably Sid will be looking for retribution?....

.....Sid stares unblinking at the camera for a moment, before speaking through gritted teeth....he says that retribution is just one thing that he's looking for.....Ric Flair and Arn Anderson just made the biggest mistake of their lives.....

".....because when you cost me the chance to be the World Wrestling Federation Champion, you signed your own death warrant's.....you two should know better than most, that Psycho Sid isn't a man you want to cross.....you used me for years to do YOUR dirty work.....you used me to keep people AWAY from you.....and you kept me close to keep ME away from YOUR titles........well now we're gonna get close again....I'm gonna get so close that you'll feel the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as I wrap my hand around your throat's.....because Ric Flair might be the Nature Boy....Arn Anderson might be the Enforcer.....but I am the Master....and the Ruler....of the World.....and I can't be stopped....."

.....Hendrix says that Sid MIGHT be big and bad enough to deal with two men....but four?....because wherever Ric Flair and Arn Anderson go, Brian Pillman never seems to be far behind.....and then there's the matter of another seven foot giant, the Big Red Problem Solver......Kane......

.....Sid says that for Flair and Arn, four seems to be the magic number....they always like to keep the numbers in their favour.....

".....but it really doesn't matter....because all you have to do is open your eyes and you will realise that you are staring up at the face of defeat.....you will realise that you are staring up into the face of pain.....and you will realise that you are staring up into the face.....of Psycho Sid......"

.....Sid laughs for a moment and goes to walk off......

......only to bump straight into an oncoming Stone Cold Steve Austin.....

.....the two men pause for a moment as they stare each other down, and Austin certainly looks ready to fight.....at least until Sid starts with that maniacal laughter again, as he sidesteps the Texas Rattlesnake and heads off out of shot.....

.....Austin watches him the whole way, obviously anticipating an attack that never comes, before turning back to face Hendrix.....

"......ain't ya heard son?....it's open season on old Stone Cold.....you wouldn't be looking to collect now would ya?......"

.....Hendrix shakes his head rapidly, telling Austin that no sir, that is certainly NOT something he's looking to do.....

"......well then maybe you ain't as dumb as you look.....but if you ain't looking to fight, then I'd better go and find someone that is, because as far as Stone Cold Steve Austin is concerned, it's open season on the whole damn WWF......"

......Austin goes to walk off and Dok Hendrix certainly looks relieved to see him go......at least he DID look relieved....until Austin walked back into shot a few seconds later......

".....did you hear that Dok?.....there's game about.....shhhh.....I'm huntin' Jackasses son....."

.....and with that Austin does finally walk off in search of his next victim.....as Dok quickly sends us back down to ringside.

Our third match of the evening see's brothers Booker T and Stevie Ray, the Harlem Heat, face off against another brother combination, Ron and Don.....The Harris Boys....

.....the Harris Boys are hardly the best team on the roster, (and apparently hardly the most popular either considering I have at least one guy a week telling me that we should just get rid them) but while not every team here in the WWF is going to win tag team gold, all teams that probably ARE going to win tag team gold need teams to defeat on the way to the top....which is why the Harris Boys are employed (and picking up wins on B-Shows such as Superstars against local jobbers)......

.....let's face it however, they're here tonight to put the Heat over, and they do their job well too, because this was a good match....in the end though Booker picked up the pinfall after taking out Don with a missile dropkick.

Winner(s): Harlem Heat

Booker and Stevie barely have time to celebrate their victory however, before they are pounced upon by Wrath and Crush, the Dogs of War....it's safe to say that power wise, Harlem Heat would be more than able to hold their own against the Dogs of War....but not after they have just finished a gruelling match up....and certainly not when they are blindsided from behind....

....the sneak attack means Booker and Stevie never even stood a chance in this fight, and as Wrath and Crush continue to unleash a beating on the two brothers, Jim Ross questions the motivation for this attack, to which Rick Rude remarks that now the Dogs of War have been let off the leash, they're clearly looking to make an impact on the tag team division, after all, if an imbecile like Al Snow can get a tag title shot, then the Dogs of War shouldn't have to do much to garner one.....

.....to be fair, if it's an impact that Crush and Wrath are looking to make here, then they do a damn good job of it....especially after planting first Stevie, then Booker with a Double Chokeslam a piece, which leaves Harlem Heat a broken (and dominated) mess on the mat....and the Dogs of War looking like a team on a mission.

It's back to Dok Hendrix once again, this time with rather unique pairing of Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner, and the Coolest Cat in Town Dude Love....Dok says that later on tonight these two men will be teaming up to face the equally unique team of the Corporate Cannon Brian Pillman, and the Bizarre One Goldust, two men that they will be facing off against in singles competition in just two weeks time, at Ground Zero: In Your House....the Dude says that's right....

".....in two weeks time daddy-o, Brian Pillman is going to find out that even the most Laid Back Llama in the WWF has a breaking point.....the Dude is usually as cool as a cucumber Dok, but so far he's not having much luck against the Corporate Kiss-Ass....Brian Pillman beat me on Raw, sure he had a little help to do it, but he got the dubbya no question about it.....Brian Pillman beat me at Summerslam, sure he had to rattle my noggin a few times with a steel chair to do it, but a win's a win Dok.....tonight though, I'm out there with my Main Mandible Scotty Steiner.....and I don't know if you noticed or not Dok, but he's pretty ticked off....tonight, Brian Pillman is gonna have to try and win this match the old fashioned way, he's gonna have to go downtown to jive town, and at the end of the day I don't think he can shake his ass like the Dude Dok, if you know what I'm saying......."

"......WHAT?.....I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.....ARE YOU EVEN SPEAKING AMERICAN NOW??....."

.....apparently the Dude's partner might not be as hip as the Coolest Cat in Town, because Scott Steiner looks frankly confused.....

"......YOU WANNA GO DOWN THERE AND SHAKE YOUR ASS?....WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU BOY?.....THIS AIN'T NO DANCE OFF, THIS IS A FIGHT....AND IF YOU GO DOWN THERE SHAKING YOUR ASS FOR GOLDUST AND HIS LITTLE PET MARCUS, ALL YOU'RE GONNA END UP WITH IS DOLLAR BILLS SHOVED DOWN YOUR TIGHTS.....THEY LIKE THAT SORT OF THING....."

.....Scotty stops for a moment to assess his partner, looking him up and down before shuddering......

".....THEN AGAIN, LOOKING AT YOUR FAT ASS YOU MIGHT BE SAFE....."

".......HEY!!!.....I've got a nice ass......"

".......NICE??.....THAT THING IS SO FAT YOU NEED TO STRAP A BEEPER TO IT TO LET PEOPLE KNOW WHEN YOU'RE BACKING UP.....YOU LOOK LIKE YOU FART GRAVY....."

"......I can assure you I don't fart gravy....."

"......WHATEVER, I DON'T CARE.....ALL I CARE ABOUT IS GETTING MY HANDS ON THAT GOLD FREAK....THAT AND GETTING MY SH!T BACK......I WANT MY CHAINMAIL....I WANT MY GOOD PIPE....AND IF I HAVE TO TEAM WITH YOUR FAT ASS TO GET THAT THEN THATS WHAT I'M GONNA DO.....

.....GOLDUST.....YOU AND YOUR LITTLE BOY TOY THERE, ALL YOU'VE BEEN DOING IS TAKING FROM ME.....YOU TOOK MY PROPERTY, GOT YOUR STINK AND YOUR GREASY LITTLE HANDS ALL OVER THEM....YOU TOOK MY TITLE AND HANDED IT TO AHMED JOHNSON.....TONIGHT, YOU'RE GONNA SEE HOW IT FEELS WHEN SOMEONE TAKES YOUR SH!T......YOU TAKE FROM ME, I TAKE FROM YOU.....AND THEN AT GROUND ZERO, ITS GONNA FEEL LIKE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME FOR YOU....BECAUSE I'M GONNA TAKE MARCUS.....AND SHOVE HIM RIGHT UP GOLDUST'S ASS....."

.......with that Steiner storms off, leaving Dok to ask the Dude what exactly it is that Big Poppa Pump is planning to take from Goldust and Marcus?......

"......I don't know Dok, it could be anything....Scotty, he's a bit of a free spirit.....although I hope it's that gold wig.....I think the Dude would look pretty hip with a long blonde mane daddy-o....

......just then Steiner comes walking back into shot, grabbing the Dude by the arm and dragging him away.....

"......COME ON FAT ASS.....WE GOT TIME BEFORE THE MATCH.....ME AND YOU WE'RE GONNA DO SOME SQUATS.....SEE IF WE CAN'T TIGHTEN THAT FLABBY MESS UP A LITTLE BIT.......

.....the two men walk out of shot.....although you can still hear the Dude insisting he has a nice ass as they go......

.....Dok turns to send us back down to ringside when he's interrupted by an almighty crash from an adjacent room.....a room who's door WAS closed, but now swings open to reveal......

......Stone Cold Steve Austin stepping over the unconscious body of Brian Christopher.....Austin pauses for a moment when he sees Dok standing there staring at him with a curious look on his face.....

".....what?.....I found me a Jackass.....and the night is still young......"

.......Austin turns to give Christopher another kick, before turning off and walking down the hall, leaving Dok Hendrix to send us back down to ringside.

Our next match was never going to be pretty....it was never going to be a technical masterclass....what it WAS always going to be, was two big hosses stiffing the hell out of each other with high impact, clubbing blows....because up next we have the big Texan, Bradshaw going one on one with Kama.....well.....as one on one as it ever can be when you're in there with a member of the Nation of Domination....because they rarely come to the ring alone, and tonight is no exception, because Kama has former two time WWF Light Heavyweight Champion with him, Scorpio.......

....considering that this bout mainly consisted of Bradshaw and Kama beating on each other for ten minutes, the match itself wasn't half bad....the crowd certainly got into it, especially towards the end, where Bradshaw had clearly had enough of Scorpio's (constant) interference, and almost broke the man in half on the outside with a Clothesline from Hell....

....unfortunately for Bradshaw, Scorpio wasn't his opponent, Kama was, and so the match continued....it continued long enough for Scorpio to eventually recover from Bradshaw's Clothesline just enough that he was able to drag himself up onto the aisle, looking to cause a distraction.....it worked too.....distracted Bradshaw enough that the big Texan rushed over to grab Scorpio by the throat....and it distracted the official enough that he was over there trying to order Scorpio (who couldn't leave if he wanted to) off the apron......

.......which is why everyone missed Stone Cold Steve Austin once again emerging from the crowd....well, everyone except the fans obviously, who absolutely erupt as he slides into the ring behind Kama....spins the Nation man round.....kicks him in the gut.....and drops him with a Stunner.....

......Kama goes down.....Austin flips him off and leaves.....Bradshaw nails Scorpio and turns around to see the unconscious Kama.....makes the cover.....one, two, three.

Winner: Bradshaw

We come back from commercial break, just in time to see the grand arrival of Goldust and his entourage.....the flamboyant threesome make their way out from the back and into the ring, arm in arm in arm as they walk down the aisle.....and yes, Goldust is once again sporting Scott Stainer's chain mail head dress instead of his usual gold wig, and he still has Big Poppa Pump's "good" pipe, which he is caressing in a very un-PG way.....

......Pillman is out next, and while most competitors would be somewhat un-nerved at the prospect of teaming with the Bizarre One, Brian Pillman moves to the beat of his own drum, and really couldn't give a damn WHO he teams with so long as he gets to cause chaos.....

.....the Dude is out next, strutting and swaying for all the chicks in the crowd....he doesn't go far however, deciding that he would be better served staying at the top of his ramp until his partner for the evening was ready to make his entrance....and as the sirens blare throughout the arena, it would seem that Scott Steiner is indeed ready.....

.....Big Poppa Pump comes walking out from the back.....but he too pauses at the top of the ramp....and not only that, but he's got a microphone in his hand.....a live microphone at that, which where Scott Steiner is concerned, is a very dangerous thing......

".......YOU KNOW, I WAS IN THE BACK THERE EARLIER....AND I TOLD DOK HENDRIX THAT SINCE YOU TWO FREAK-SHOW'S WERE GONNA TAKE MY SH!T, THEN I WAS GONNA TAKE YOURS.....PROBLEM WITH THAT IS YOU AIN'T GOT NOTHING I WANT.....MAKE-UP....WIGS....PRETTY GOLD ROBES....THE BIG BAD BOOTY DADDY DOESN'T PLAY LIKE THAT.....SEE THERE'S ONLY TWO THINGS THAT SCOTT STEINER IS INTERESTED IN, THATS HIS PEAKS.....AND HIS FREAKS......AND THATS WHEN IT HIT ME......

......SEE YOU CAN TAKE MY CHAINMAIL.....YOU CAN TAKE MY "GOOD" PIPE....BUT I STILL GOT ONE PIPE YOU CAN NEVER TAKE.....AND I'VE BEEN USING IT....ALL....WEEK......LONG.....SO WHAT I'M GONNA DO NOW, IS SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN HITTIN' WITH MY PIPE.......AND TAKE A GOOD LOOK, BECAUSE AS MY NEW HEAD FREAK, YOU'RE GONNA BE SEEING A LOT OF HER......."

.....it's Sable!!.....Jim Ross says we've barely seen this young lady, since Marcus turned his back on her to turn to the gold side.....but she's back.....and judging by the way she is running her fingers up and down Scott Steiner's chest, she's going to be here for some time.....

.....Marcus is beside himself.....and Marlena doesn't look too pleased either, while Goldust just stands there with a sneer on his face......

".........AND YOU MIGHT NOT GET THIS BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL ABOUT THE "BOYS" CLUB.....BUT SINCE YOU LIKE MOVIE QUOTES SO MUCH, HERES ONE FOR YA......"

.....he pulls Sable close and plants a kiss on her, before turning back to face the ring.....

"........'DARLING ITS BETTER....DOWN WHERE IT'S WETTER.....TAKE IT FROM ME'......THATS FROM THE LITTLE MERMAID B!TCH!......AND BELIEVE ME, SABLE HAS NEVER HAD IT BETTER HER WHOLE LIFE.......LETS DO THIS......"

.....and with that Steiner and Love make their way down the aisle, diving into the ring where they immediately begin to Brawl with their respective foes, as the official rings the bell to get this one underway.......

......which brings us to our semi-main event, and actually what was the match of the night....which is no mean feat when you take into account that for one, Scotty is still nursing a minor neck injury.....and two, Scott Steiner and Dude Love have absolutely zero chemistry as tag team partners.....like, at all.....their timing as a team is horrendous, they were falling over each other the whole way through the match, but the crowd simply did not care, they absolutely ate this sloppy mess up.....

......Scotty was indeed in a bad mood, but after losing his chainmail, his "good" pipe....AND his WWF Championship, he seems to have a bit of a spring back in his step, and that's all down to his brand new valet, the stunning Sable.....

......this match acts as a preview of sorts for two of the matches we will be seeing at Ground Zero: In Your House.....where Dude Love and Brian Pillman will collide once again, as well as being the event on which Scott Steiner and Goldust will finally collide.....and we see plenty of those pairing facing off here......the story of the end of the match however occurs on the outside, where Marcus and Marlena have spent the majority of the match hurling insults and abuse Marcus' one time valet Sable....to the point that he actually corners and grabs hold of the beautiful blonde roughly by the arms......

.......that brings Scott Steiner to the outside, in defence of his new Head Freak, and he knocks Marcus senseless with a hard right hand, before sending him crashing into the crowd barrier.....

......unfortunately that leaves the Dude all alone in the ring, and as Goldust ensures the official is looking elsewhere, Brian Pillman once again makes the use of that steel chair, to knock the Dude senseless, making him easy pickings for the one, the two.....and the three.....and speaking of three, that now makes Brian Pillman 3-0 in competition against the Dude....maybe the Corporate Cannon's declaration that Dude Love can't defeat him has some merit after all.

The Wolves howl as Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sean Waltman make their way out next....the Wolfpac is in the house, and apparently they have something to say....Scott Hall takes the microphone first, saying that last week was a good night for the good guys, because not only did "Big Kev" guarantee his shot at the WWF Title at Ground Zero, but "the kid" done good too...because when he pinned Owen Hart last week, he picked himself up a sweet little Intercontinental Championship match too.....and now all he's got to do is beat the baby Hart one more time, to bring the IC strap, back to the 'Pac......

......Waltman is certainly the weakest talker of this bunch, which is why he doesn't stay on the mic for long....but he takes it just long enough to tell Owen that a few months ago, he came out here live on Raw, beat Rocky Maivia....and became the brand new WWF European Champion....granted he didn't hold the belt for long, but that little taste of gold told him two things, one, that on any given night, there is no one here in the WWF that he can't beat....and two, he wants MORE gold "......Owen Hart, I beat you once, I can damn sure beat you again......."

......that just leaves the big man.....and everyone knows that Kevin Nash isn't one to be shy when it comes to speaking his mind.....and with an upcoming WWF Championship match upcoming at Ground Zero, he's got plenty to say....he first of all re-iterates what both Hall and Waltman said, stating that "the Kid" is going to be walking out of In Your House as the new WWF Intercontinental Champion.....

"......and he won't be the only one of us walking out with a shiny new belt.....because yours truly, everybody's favourite big, sexy, giant.....has got his first WWF Title shot in almost twenty months.....TWENTY MONTHS.....that's almost two damn years....do you really think I'm gonna let Ahmed Johnson walk out with that Championship around his waist when it took me so long to get a shot?....."

.....Nash says that the last time he held that title he held it for a year solid....and the only reason he lost it to begin with was because he got soft....he got complacent.....

".....well trust me, the year me and the boys have had, there ain't nothing soft about us anymore....."

.....he says that ever since Wrestlemania XII he's been playing second fiddle to a certain Boy Toy who shall not be named.....he says that all three of them got stuck in a supporting role to a prima-donna diva who THOUGHT he was the star of the show, but that all stops now.....

".....this ain't a one man show....this right here is a unit....a family....and family looks out for family.....if it wasn't me getting this shot then it would be Scott.....if it wasn't Scott it would be Kid.....there ain't no egos here, this ain't a KLiQ and there ain't no hierarchy.....but it was ME that took out Bret Hart, so it's ME that gets the shot.....just like it was Kid that took out Owen Hart.....it's Kid that gets the shot at the IC strap......

.....Ahmed Johnson, you are one big, bad mother....there's no doubt about that....but look at me.....
(Nash points to a nearby camera man)....hey you, camera monkey, zoom that shot in right here, get a good look at my eyes and you tell me I'm not ready......Ahmed, you can be as bad as you want to be....you've been kicking down doors and taking names since what, March?....big deal....I've been the Big Bad Wolf since the day I first step foot in this company....yeah, you can be proud of your reign....you made history....you were the FIRST black WWF Champion in the history of this company...and good for you, no one can take that away from you.....but what I can and WILL take away from you, is that Title belt that's around your waist right now.....yeah you made history, but guess what buddy, I know a thing or two about making history myself.....I was the first guy to win the Intercontinental title, tag titles AND the World title in the space of a year, and it's HIGH time that Big Sexy had the gold back....."

......Nash doesn't actually get to say much more....because the screeching guitar that is the introduction to Bret Hart's music begins to play....and not only does the Hitman make his way out, but brother Owen, Chris Jericho and Test are also there to accompany the former WWF Champion to the ring as well.....obviously the Hitman isn't in a particularly good mood....but then he's not been a Happy Hitman for quite some time now.....

....the foursome climb into the ring, where Bret is quick to try and negate everything that the Wolfpac has just said, starting with the "absurd" idea that Sean Waltman is going to be walking out of Ground Zero with the WWF Intercontinental Championship.....

"......just because you scraped out a fluke victory last week over Owen, that doesn't mean squat....even the best of us can't outwrestle bad luck, but beating Owen Hart twice in a row, that's just not going to happen....especially in a one on one match....."

.....Owen obviously agrees with his brother.....saying not only did Waltman get lucky last week, but he cheated too.....

".....he had a handful of tights.....he's a cheat....a dirty cheater...."

.....Waltman didn't have a handful of tights incidentally, he beat Owen fair and square, but since when have the Harts ever turned down an opportunity to accuse someone of screwing them?...Owen says that while the Kid might have found some luck fighting against those "Light Heavyweight losers", he's in for the shock of his life when he gets in there with Owen Hart.....someone that can wrestle AND fly....which is why the Intercontinental Championship is going to be staying right where it is.....

.....Bret says that as far as Kevin Nash goes, that was a nice little history lesson, but he's forgetting one important thing.....

".....and that's the fact that while yeah, you did all those things, but that those tag team and Intercontinental titles came off riding the coat-tails of Shawn Michaels, even back in 1994.....and that year long World Title reign that you're so proud of? You forgot to mention who it was exactly that put the breaks on that Diesel truck, and took that World Wrestling Federation Championship away from you.......because it was ME......"

....Bret says that Nash shouldn’t even be getting the shot at Ahmed Johnson at In Your House.....it SHOULD be the Hitman.....so maybe.....MAYBE Bret should put a stop to the Diesel truck again.....right NOW......

”......or maybe you should all just stop flirting with each other and form a line....and Ahmed Johnson will add each and every one of you to his list of victims.....”

.....those would be the dulcet tones of Mr. James E. Cornette, who makes his way out onto the ramp with the World Wrestling Federation Champion by his side.....

”.......Kevin Nash, you can talk about family and loyalty and unity all you want, but when it comes down to who gets the shot against the big man here, it’s still YOU that’s first up to bat......and Bret Hart.....you are exactly what you claim to be, the Excellence of Execution......but you ain’t the best there is, because that tag line belongs to Ahmed Johnson......if you spent less time bitchin’ and moanin’, and more time WRESTLING then maybe it would be you facing off against Ahmed Johnson at Ground Zero.....but it’s not, it’s that seven foot goof right there......”

......Bret says that Cornette has lots to say from the top of the ramp there....but Ground Zero is still two weeks away.....if Ahmed Johnson had any guts at all, he’d walk down here right now and put the title on the line against the TRUE best there is.....best there was.....and best there ever will be.....Bret “The Hitman” Hart.....

.....Jim Cornette has a better idea....he says that since Bret Hart claims to be the best there is, and since Kevin Nash claims that it doesn’t matter WHO in the Wolfpac faces Ahmed Johnson first....and more importantly, since Ahmed Johnson doesn’t give a damn who he’s in this ring with, because they’re all just faceless victims to him.....how about next week, live on Raw......Bret Hart vs. Scott Hall to open the show......and Ahmed Johnson bs the winner of that match to close the show......for the World Wrestling Federation Championship.....

......Rick Rude proclaims that Ahmed Johnson is getting as bad as Matt Hardy for just handing out title shots.....but Bret Hart is quick to agree to those terms.....and in fairness to Kevin Nash, he is quick to encourage Scott Hall to agree to those terms too.....and so just like that, we have TWO matches set for next week.....and one of them is for the WWF Title.

(OOC): Why two matches in one night? A little bit of a scheduling snafu on my part there....thought I had an extra week until Ground Zero, when actually next week is the go home show.....whoops

So it’s finally time for our main event....but Stone Cold Steve Austin has had his hands pretty full all night long......Vince McMahon may have declared open season on Steve Austin....but Steve Austin has declared open season on the whole World Wrestling Federation.....and tonight alone, Savio Vega, Brian Christopher, Kama and Rich Steiner have all felt the bite of the Rattlesnake.....Chris Jericho is good.....Chris Jericho is very good.....but he might have picked the wrong night to be facing Stone Cold.....

.....Chris Jericho has been crying out to be included in the main event scene for some time now, and finally (after aligning himself with the Hart Foundation) he has closed the show on a number of occasions....and they have all been damn good showings....tonight wasn’t such a good showing....well, it was, I mean both men put on five star performances, but with such a hectic night this match didn’t get anywhere near the length it deserved....with that being said, it was still a good match (and still better than WCW’s Main Event).....it also wasn’t without its shenanigans......

......because the Million Dollar Corporation clearly didn’t take too kindly to Mr. Austin costing Rich Steiner the match earlier in the evening, and that is without the added incentive of Vince McMahon looking to reward anyone that can take Stone Cold out in revenge for his actions last week......

......Ted DiBiase’s entire group make their way out, and along with Test do a good enough job of distracting the official that Chris Jericho is able to slide to the outside and pick up a steel chair, looking to steal a cheap victory.....unfortunately, as he charges Austin, all he gets is a kick to the gut and a Stone Cold Stunner.....followed by the one, the two, and the three.......

Winner: Steve Austin
Rating: B+

The match might be over, but the Million Dollar Corporation has barely begun, as they storm the ring looking to do what Jericho couldn’t, take out Steve Austin......they don’t get off to a great start however.....because both Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight are dropped within seconds of entering the ring by a pair Stone Cold Stunners......

.....unfortunately there is still the little matter of Rich Steiner and Jeff Jarrett to contend with.....and both men collide with Austin simultaneously, dropping him to the mat where they proceed to stomp the crap out of him.....this crowd is red hot for the Texas Rattlesnake however, and a loud Austin chant breaks out through the arena as Stone Cold rally’s back and actually looks as though he’s about to fight off the entire Corporation single handedly.....at least until Rich Steiner delivers a hard low blow.....and Austin finds himself straight back down on the mat......

......Rich keeps up the offence while Jarrett slips to the outside for that Acoustic Equaliser, and as he slides back into the ring, Steiner drags Austin to his feet, hooking his hands behind his back as the Million Dollar Corporation looks to capture that big game.......

.......when Ken Shamrock comes bursting out of the back, down the aisle and charging into the ring.....he snatches the guitar from the hands of Jarrett and drives the man back into the corner with a flurry of blows, just as Austin kicks his leg back to give Steiner a taste of his own medicine with a low blow of his own......

......Shamrock declared that following Summerslam he was far from finished with Jeff Jarrett, and judging by the beating he’s giving him in the corner he wasn’t lying.....

......Steiner pulls himself back to his feet, but he may well have been better served staying down, because Austin hits him with the now familiar kick to the gut, Stunner combination....and just like that Rich Steiner finds himself flat on the back on the outside along with Southern Justice......

......meanwhile Shamrock is continuing to pummel Jarrett with rights and lefts in the corner, before finally wrapping his arms around Double J, and sending him flying over the top rope with a belly to belly suplex....and now Ted DiBiase’s entire group is on the outside.....

.....Shamrock lets out a loud animalistic scream, clearly pleased with himself, before turning around.......

.....straight into a Stone Cold Stunner.....

.....Austin flips Shamrock the bird, telling him ”....D.T.A son......don’t trust anyone.....” as Jim Ross declares that Stone Cold Steve Austin just doesn’t give a damn.....the Million Dollar Corporation is down.....Ken Shamrock is down.....and Steve Austin has bailed from the ring and headed back into the crowd, where these fans mob him as the copyright information displays on the screen, and the show comes to a close.

Hart/Hall should be interesting - Hart may be good enough to carry Hall in spite of his injury, and in the opening match it could well steal the show... especially as it seems there'll be a definite finish to set up the main event!

Tonight’s show opens not in the ring, not in the back.....but with a video that a small graphic in the corner of the screen informs us is what happened last week after the show went off the air.....we see Chris Benoit trapped inside the steel cage with the entire Titans of Wrestling group, while Curt Hennig, Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger tattle the walls of the cage, just as the Giant arrives with a set of bolt cutters......

.......Giant finally cuts through the metal chain holding the door closed, and one by one team WCW pick up a steel chair each from ringside and storm into the ring and into the cage where the Titans are waiting....of course, these being the Titans of Wrestling they soon make a run for the hills when the angry and armed WCW group get in there.....well, Hogan and Savage do.....followed shortly by the Warrior who has clearly decided that all of this is beneath him.....Levesque, Buff, Traylor, Copeland and Cage decide to stick around, but not for long, because WCW batter them around the ring like pinballs before the Giant plants both Copeland and Cage with a double Chokeslam, Page drops Bagwell with a Diamond Cutter, Luger gets Traylor up in the Torture Rack, and a battered and bruised Chris Benoit locks Levesque into the Crippler Crossface, which has Jean Paul screaming in agony......

......eventually Russo obviously got the order to the monkeys in the back to raise the cage, and the remaining Titans scatter like cockroaches, joining the holy trinity at the top of the entrance ramp, as Chris Benoit snatches up a microphone from ringside....

.....he’s not in the best of shapes after taking a vicious beating at the hands of eight men, but he’s still standing, and he’s got a challenge for Hollywood Hogan......

”......Hogan, you came out here and told the world that Chris Benoit wasn’t in your league....that Chris Benoit should be kissing your feet for allowing him to be in the same ring as you.....well how about instead of kissing your feet, I kick your ass......and since I’m not fit to be inside a ring with you, how about we do it inside this steel cage.....next week!.....”

......truthfully Hogan doesn’t look particularly thrilled by the idea, but Hennig takes the microphone and begins taunting him, asking if he’s not so confident about facing little old Chris Benoit without seven other guys to back him up? That’s too much for Hogan’s Hollywood sized ego to take, and eventually he accepts, telling Benoit that he will see him next week, and he’s going to tear him apart........and with that the opening credits finally roll.......

.....and we go live to the arena, where Eric Bischoff is standing by in the middle of the ring.....

.....he welcomes the fans to another huge edition of Nitro, telling them that he has a real treat in store for them tonight.....

”......because as you have all just seen, tonights main event will see Hollywood Hogan live in this very ring to face the Canadian Crippler Chris Benoit......”

.....Eric pauses for a moment with a big smile on his face, before looking up and pointing high above the ring......

”.....and just six days before WCW goes to war, it’s going to be inside a fifteen foot high steel cage.....”

.....the crowd pops for that, but Bischoff isn’t finished....he says that while that match will indeed take place (and there will be no backing out of it because Hogan agreed to it), by his reckoning Hollywood Hogan Last put the WCW Championship in the line around 28 days ago......

”......and since that title WONT be on the line at Fall Brawl.....and since I am a member of the WCW Championship committee, and I can make divisions like this.....that steel cage match tonight?.....its going to be for the WCW Heavyweight Title......”

.....again the crowd pops big....a steel cage match for the WCW Title on free TV, why wouldn’t they.....of course not EVERYONE was happy about that........

.....in fact Vince Russo and Hollywood Hogan were absolutely livid about that....

.....the two men make their way out, and Russo asks Bischoff just who in the hell he thinks he is making last minute title matches like that......Hollywood Hogan is the WCW World Champion.....Hollywood Hogan is the MAN.....and you don’t book Hollywood Hogan into a title match with two hours warning.....Russo says that no, Hollywood Hogan will NOT be putting the title on the line tonight.....

......Bischoff says that he had a feeling the pair would say something like that....and since the great Hollywood Hogan wants some notice when it comes to his Championship, here’s some notice for you.....in two days time, Hollywood Hogan will be STRIPPED of the WCW Championship for failing to defend it within the 30 day window.....and since there aren’t any events in two days time, he either puts the belt on the line against Chris Benoit tonight......

”.....or he hands the title over to me right now.....unless of course Hollywood Hogan isn’t quite as confident that he can defeat Chris Benoit as he would like you to believe?....”

.....Eric flashes that sh!t eating grin at both Hogan and Russo, and Hogan blows his gasket....he tells Bischoff that he’ll put the belt on the line tonight.....

”......but you’d better have a new team member on stand by for Fall Brawl brother, because I’m going to wipe the mat with that pipsqueak Benoit and take him out of commission for good.....and then when I’m done with Benoit dude, and I’ve scraped his face off the bottom of my boot, me and my Titan brothers, we’re going to go on to War Games and utterly destroy the rest of the so called “team WCW”.....because this is Titan’s country brother......and what are YOU going to do Eric Bischoff, when we take out all your hopes in one night......”

If you ever want to watch a match that is just four big dudes beating the holy hell out of each other, then this match is probably for you.....Vader, Bigelow, Meng and The Barbarian....not one of these men is afraid to take three shots just to deliver one of their own....this one was Stiff with a Capital S.....

.....Vader and Bigelow will be looking to get their careers back on track here, after spending the last few months locked in a battle with Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain (along with the Giant and to a lesser extent Lex Luger) and it was a battle that they didn’t come out of the winning side in.....

.....the Faces of Fear could do with a victory too however....these two beasts have lost their way (and their purpose) since Hulk Hogan turned heel and formed the Titans of Wrestling....after all, they (and the rest of the Dungeon of Doom) were part of the Alliance to end Hulkamania.....problem is it was Hulk Hogan that ended Hulkamania when he transformed into Hollywood.....and with Kevin Sullivan AWOL and Konnan branching out on his own, the Dungeon of Doom is seemingly dead......so where do the Faces of Fear go from here?.....

.....for now they seem to be pretty content fighting.....and they get a hell of a fight too, because both Vader and Bigelow are former WCW Champions.....and they actually seem to be getting the best of the two big Island boys here...........

......although maybe the Dungeon of Doom isn’t as dead as people think.....because here comes Kevin Sullivan......

......seeing the arrival Jimmy Hart is quick to hop up onto the apron, megaphone in hand, to distract the attention of the official......

.....with his opening right there, Sullivan hops up onto the opposite apron behind the referees back, and as he finds his target he lets loose with a fireball, straight to the face of...........Meng?.....

......Jimmy Hart looks to be in shock.....In in his defence, Vader looks pretty surprised to see Meng staggering backwards clutching his face too.....although as Bigelow tackles the Barbarian to the floor, he’s not too surprised to hoist the big Tongan up, and drive him down to the mat with a thudding Powerbomb for the one, the two, and the three.

Winner(s): Vader & Bigelow

Jimmy Hart and The Barbarian drag Meng to the outside where they look to get him backstage for some medical attention....Kevin Sullivan on the other hand has rolled right into the ring and is standing before the (somewhat) confused looking Vader and Bam Bam.....

.....he holds up his hands to tell the two big men that he’s not here to cause them harm....before walking in close and whispering some unheard words into each man’s ear in turn, then stepping back and staring the two men down....before turning and heading back to the locker rooms, leaving Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Van Vader looking just as confused as when he first arrived.....and as the commentators question what Kevin Sullivan could be planning here, we go to the back, with Mean Gene......

.....who is standing by with a gentleman who will be in action next.....and in action at Fall Brawl where he takes on Rick Martel....yes Mean Gene is standing by with Lance Storm.....

.....Scheme Gene does his usual job of shilling the WCW hotline, before getting right down to business.....

....he says that in just six days, Lance Storm will be facing a man that Storm claims is past his best....that Storm claims is an embarrassment to Canada.....and in a step even further, an embarrassment to the entire wrestling business....Rick Martel.....Gene says that if you ask him, all Lance Storm is doing is firing up a wiley veteran....and it’s a tactic that could well backfire.....

.....obviously Storm disagrees.....saying that for those words to fire Rick Martel up then he would have to have an ounce of respect for himself......and he clearly doesn’t have any respect for himself, because if he DID then he wouldn’t be out here embarrassing himself and embarrassing Canada.....

.....he says that at Fall Brawl, Rick Martel is going to find out exactly the same thing that Jim Duggan is going to find out tonight.....because make no mistake, Jim Duggan is no different than Rick Martel.....

”....a past his prime has been, still desperately trying to hold on to the spotlight that SHOULD be shining on the future of Wrestling.....men like myself.....not the past of Wrestling.....men like Jim Duggan and Rick Martel.....and just like Rick Martel, Jim Duggan is an embarrassment....an embarrassment to his whole country.....the only difference between Jim Duggan and Rick Martel, is that HIS country is the United States of America.....and I really could care less about how much America is embarrassed.....”

.....he tells Gene to watch closely.....because the Pride of Canada is about to make his way to the ring.

I hate Jim Duggan....cannot stand the cross eyed moron.....the days of you getting yourself disqualified to do the job are over here Jimmy Boy.....I did let him get some offence in though, just enough to make this a relatively even contest.....as Duggan went for that three point stance however Storm managed to move out of the way, and Hacksaw collided with the turnbuckles, leaving his back exposed for Storm to clip the knee from behind before locking in the Canadian Maple Leaf for the submission victory......

Winner: Lance Storm
Rating: B-

.....although Storm is showing no sign of releasing the hold, even after the bell rings to indicate his victory.....he wrenches back on the hold even harder as old Hacksaw shouts out in pain, telling him that his time is over.....it’s time to move along and step aside, and if he doesn’t want to go willingly, then Lance Storm will make him retire forcefully.....and as Tony Schiavone points out, if Jim Duggan stays locked in this hold much longer then his knee may suffer irreparable damage......

......fortunately for old cross eyed Jim, Rick Martel (rather predictably) comes rushing down the aisle and slides into the ring....Storm quickly releases the hold and darts to the outside however out of harms way, and as Martel checks on Duggan, Storm lets a nearby camera man know that he should get a good shot of Rick Martel, because after Sunday night, we won’t be seeing him again.

From there we go to a quick cut scene in the back.....clearly the camera man is trying to stay incognito because it’s quite a long shot, but as the lens zooms into focus we can see Hollywood Hogan furiously throwing things around.....Macho is trying to calm him down, Warrior is stood looking uninterested in the background.....the rest of the Titans are on the receiving end of Hogan’s wrath, with him screaming at them that if they had finished the job with Benoit last week then they wouldn’t be in this situation right now.....

.....Levesque doesn’t take too kindly to that, saying that maybe if Hogan, Savage and Warrior hadn’t abandoned the cage the instant team WCW cut through that lock, then they might have been able to deal with ALL of their War Games opponents in one night.....

......that just infuriates Hogan (and Savage) even further....with Savage saying that he, Warrior and Hogan can’t risk getting injured in a situation like that.....they’re the Crown Jewels of the Titans....the Holy Trinity.....the Cream of the Crop, dig it?.....Levesque doesn’t “dig it” at all....in fact he thinks that maybe the “Cream of the Crop” is starting to turn a little sour.....maybe it’s even a little bit past it’s best.....

......Savage definitely doesn’t like that comment....and he and Levesque stare each other down for a moment until Hogan finally notices the Camera Man at the other end of the room, and sends the Enforcer over to get rid of him......tense times right now for the Titans of Wrestling.

Back to the ring now, where Lord Steven Regal puts the WCW Television Title on the line again, this time against young Scotty Riggs.....Riggs has a great look, but he’s not exactly the worlds greatest worker....and outside of being a “pretty boy” doesn’t really have a character of such for the fans to invest in....couple that with the fact that he’s not exactly a great talker either and you can see why WCW stuck him in a team with Bagwell when he debuted....really a Tag Team would be a better fit for Riggs right now to hide his limitations, but there’s no one really available right now to pair him up with (after all I don’t really see Riggs and the Warlord lighting up the Tag Team ranks) so for now he’s just going to have to get by on his own.....

......to be fair, this wasn’t a terrible match....it wasn’t great, but then very few WCW matches are at the moment....in the end though it was the Champion that picked up the victory, submitting Riggs with the Regal Stretch.

Winner: ....and Still WCW Television Champion.....Lord Steven Regal

From there we head backstage, where Mean Gene is standing by with Missy Hyatt and her men, Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain....Gene says that these two gentlemen right here have made quite an impression (and racked up some pretty big wins) around here in a very short space of time....and could perhaps have asked for (and received) a WCW Tag Title shot based on those results....instead they took it upon themselves to assault the Tag Team Champions, and now you’ve got to believe that the Road Warriors are going to be out for revenge.....

.....Missy tells Gene to stop being so over dramatic....she says that all her boys did was give Hawk and Animal a little bit of gentle persuasion to give them that shot.....after all, no one is going to want to face Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain willingly now are they? Although for a team that will supposedly be “out for revenge” as Gene put it, her boys have yet to receive an answer.....

”.....and THAT Mean Gene, is just plain rude.....”

....not as rude as when Hawk and Animal burst into shot however, and head straight for Awesome and Cain.....

.....Gene gets the hell out of dodge as these two big teams set about pummelling each other backstage, bouncing each other off walls, doors, and any other available hard surfaces they can find until Doug Dillinger and his security team are finally able to separate them, as we go back down to ringside.

Our next match sees the seemingly unstoppable rookie monster Bill Goldberg facing off against one half of the Public Enemy, Johnny Grunge.....the announcers are starting to get aboard the hype train now with Mr. Goldberg, stating that so far this newcomer has defeated everyone that’s been put before him, even true ring veterans the likes of VK Wallstreet.....even Bobby Heenan says that this man is a force to be reckoned with, idly wondering if he wants a manager.....

.....the match wasn’t great (Johnny Grunge was in it) and it wasn’t long....because Goldberg folded the Public Enemy man in half with the spear.....before impressively lifting Grunge up in the Jackhammer and driving him into the mat for the one, the two, and the three.

The rookie sensation is celebrating another big victory in the ring, when everybody's favourite former Mounties, the Amazing French Canadian’s make their way out into the stage....Jacques has a microphone in hand and tells Goldberg that he’s nothing more than a big dummy......

”.....you might think you’re a big tough guy beating up Tag Team wrestlers in one on one matches.....but you only beat us because we are such an amazing team, such a cohesive unit, that having one of us wrestle without the other is like wrestling with only one arm......it’s almost like we lose a piece of ourselves.....”

....the Canadian’s look downcast for a moment after that touching bit of sentiment, before Jacque wipes away an invisible tear, before continuing.....he tells Goldberg that if he’s so tough, he won’t mind facing BOTH the Amazing French Canadians at Fall Brawl, in THEIR environment.....a Tag Team match.....all he has to do is find a partner.....

.....Goldberg has been pretty mute up until now, but he’s clearly heard growling at the Canadians that he ”don’t need no damn partner to kick both your asses”....Jacques disagrees however.....reiterating that they want a Tag Team match.....

”....a TAG TEAM match you big dummy....that means two vs. two....which means that if you’ve got the guts to face us then you need a partner........of course that ALSO means that if we beat your partner.....YOU still lose.....and that little unbeaten streak you’ve built up goes with it.....those are the terms Billy Boy, unless of course.....you’re chicken?.....”

It’s time for that sweet Brad Armstrong theme music to play throughout the arena, as the man himself makes his way out to face the masked menace that is Mortis....

....James Vandenberg has decreed that his man Mortis is here to cleanse the impurities and imperfections here in WCW, starting with the “false warrior” the Renegade (who really was cleansed from the roster, after asking for and receiving his release) and has now seemingly turned his focus to the “boy in a man’s world” Jeff Hardy.....

.....Vandenberg is quick to let a nearby camera know that Brad Armstrong is another on the WCW roster in need of purifying....a man who blames an imaginary family “curse” on his own shortcomings.....

.....there’s no Armstrong Curse to blame this evening however, Mortis was simply the better man, putting Brad (who’s actually been a really solid hand these last few months) away with a Flatliner for the three count.

From that we go to a pre-taped interview conducted by Mike Tenay, who is with one of WCW's newest stars, Rikishi Fatu....Tenay thanks the big Samoan for agreeing to speak with him today, before asking him what it was that prompted his move to WCW? Rikishi says that's simple....opportunity....he said that when his contract came up with the "other guys" Eric Bischoff reached out to him personally....he said that Bischoff told him that Vince Russo and the Titans of Wrestling were attempting to run rough-shot over the entire WCW, and World Championship Wrestling needed a few good men to step up and fight the good fight.....and along with the pride that competing against a Hollywood Hogan or a Randy Savage brings, there would also be opportunities.....Championship opportunities yes, but more importantly, the opportunity to compete as a singles star.....and the opportunity to compete as himself....Rikishi Fatu....not some gimmick street activist or forgotten about tag team partner....but Rikishi Fatu, because this right here is the real man, and WCW is set to see a whole lot of the Big 'Kish.....

......Tenay says that speaking of tag team's, the Samoan SWAT Team....relatives of (and former partners of) Rikishi....any plans to reconnect there? Rikishi says no, they're doing their thing, he's doing his....they're happy as a team right now, while Rikishi has been working as one half of a team for damn near all his career....he wants to get out there on his own and show the world what he can do......

.....well he will have plenty of opportunity to do that (Tenay says) this Sunday, live on Pay Per View when he goes up against Eddie Guerrero.....for the WCW United States Championship....Rikishi says that right, and that's exactly the sort of opportunities he was talking about....he says that US Title has been held by some of the biggest names this sport has ever known, and he would be truly proud to add his name to that list....but it won't be easy....he says that Eddie Guerrero truly is a great wrestler....he's got a lousy attitude, but there's no denying his abilities....Rikishi says he's ready for the fight of his life AND he's ready for whatever dirty tricks Guerrero tries to pull. He says Guerrero has already had him jumping through hoops, and Rikishi has cleared every hurdle put in front of him.....at Fall Brawl, that last hurdle is Eddie Guerrero, and Big 'Kish has just gotta jump one more time.

It's the Titans of Wrestling facing off against Team WCW next....although while Curt Hennig and Diamond Dallas Page WILL be a part of War Games, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage will NOT....which really means the Titans have nothing to lose here, and EVERYTHING to gain, because if Copeland and Cage can manage to injure either Hennig or Page, it would leave WCW one man short, with only six days to find a replacement....

....the two Canadians will be looking to impress here too, considering this is their debut match for the company and their debut match as members of the Titans of Wrestling....they certainly add a bit of levity to the group too that wasn't there before, after all, you're not likely to see the Warrior use Diamond Dallas Page's head like a ventriloquist dummy to proclaim how "totally awesome Copeland and Cage are" which is exactly what this pair do once they have beat the man down enough, with Copeland working DDP's jaw up and down with every word, before the duo break out into laughter.....

......of course they were never going to keep control of the match until the end, and as is the norm in these tag team affairs, this one breaks down into chaos.....chaos that sees Page drop Christian Right in the middle of the ring with the Diamond Cutter, before making the cover......except the official was busy with Hennig and Copeland, which is why he missed the pin attempt.....

....it was also why he missed Ray Traylor sliding into the ring with the nightstick, which he cracks across the back of Page's head, before tossing Christian on top of the unconscious DDP....and three seconds later, by the most dubious of means, Copeland and Cage have a big win, that has got to give the Titans a big confidence boost heading into War Games.....

Winner(s): Copeland & Cage
Rating: C+

......and it doesn't look as though the Titans are finished there either....because as Traylor continues to pummel the laid out DDP, Copeland and Cage turn their attention to Hennig, who doesn't stand a chance against two men....

......Traylor once again pulls out his trusty nightstick and climbs onto the back of Page, Camel Clutch style, using the stick to choke the life out of Dallas, while (with Hennig down) Cage drops to the outside to pick up a couple of steel chairs....handing one to his partner and setting up what looks to be another one of those brutal Con-Chair-To shots.....

.....before they can deliver the final blow however, the Nasty Boys, Knobbs and Saggs come running down to the ring, heading straight for the two men that not only took their spots in the Titans, but bloodied them up on their way out of the door, with Knobbs going straight for Copeland, while Saggs dives at Cage.....

......the two warring teams Brawl all the way up the aisle and back to the locker rooms, leaving Hennig free to drag Traylor off the back of Page, before sending the Enforcer crashing to the outside with a running drop kick that catches Traylor right on the chin......

.....The Enforcer waves it off now he's lost the advantage, and he retreats to the back as well, leaving Hennig to help a groggy Diamond Dallas Page to his feet.....although Page still has enough wits about him to ask his partner where he was? Page says he had the match won.....

.....Hennig explains (reluctantly, after telling Page that he doesn't answer to him) that he was busy with Copeland and can't be in two places at once....an explanation that Page (also reluctantly) accepts.....but while the two men do leave together (much like with Luger and Giant last week) there is an air of tension to it that the commentators find particularly uneasy with just six days before WCW goes to War......and it's time for a commercial break.

Rating: B+

And when we come back from commercial, we go straight to Chris Benoit's locker room, where the entirety of team WCW (including DDP, who has an Ice Pack held to the back of his head) is in the middle of giving him a pep talk.....although they are all talking over each other in an attempt to be heard, until finally Benoit has heard enough, telling them (rather firmly) to "STOP!"......he tells them that this is HIS shot.....HIS match.....and HIS opportunity......so if it's all the same to them, leave him alone and let him go out there and do what he does best.....wrestle.....because there is no way on God's Green earth, that Hulk Hogan can outwrestle Chris Benoit....ESPECIALLY inside a Steel Cage with no backup from his little Titan pals....

....with that Benoit stands and leaves the room, but not before telling everyone there that the Title is coming back where it belongs....because tonight he's going to drive a steak into the heart of the Titans of Wrestling....and then on Sunday night, they can ALL drive it home.

Steel Cage Match

WCW and the Titans of Wrestling will be going to War in just six days time at Fall Brawl....but tonight the WCW Championship is on the line, as Hollywood Hogan and Chris Benoit clash inside a fifteen foot high steel cage....and unlike last week, Hogan is going to be all alone in there, with a very determined Rabid Wolverine.....

.....to say this is a huge opportunity for Chris Benoit would be an understatement....not just because it's his first ever shot at the big gold belt, but because Hollywood Hogan is head and shoulders the bigger star between these two...of course a good showing here could not only legitimise the Crippler, but it could even propel him towards an actual main event spot....And it's safe to say that Benoit knows that too, because he most definitely out performed the Champion here....Hollywood Hogan may well be the biggest name in wrestling today, but he's a good five years past his best, and despite what Vince Russo will tell you, even being the biggest star in the world won't guarantee you a great match, especially when Hogan was never THAT a great of a worker, even in his prime.....which is why Benoit carries the "workload" portion of this match.....

.....it's a hard hitting affair too, both men taste the cage on a number of occasions, and if Benoit wasn't already beat up when he entered the match, he certainly was by the end of it, because Hollywood made sure that he threw him around the ring like a rag doll, driving him skull first into the chainlink cage wall on a number of occasions....not to be outdone however, The Crippler ground Hogans skull into the cage, trying to grate the skin right off his skull.....he even nails Hogan with a hard German Suplex that leaves the WCW Champion flat on the mat......and Benoit climbs to the top rope, looking for that patented diving headbutt......

.....when he reaches the top however he pauses....looks down at Hogan....then looks up at the top of the cage.....and as the crowd roars in approval (and anticipation, because they clearly know what he's planning) Benoit climbs to the very top of the cage, fifteen feet high in the air.....where he pulls himself to his feet using the chains that lowered the cage from the ceiling, and stares out at this sea of fans, as Schiavone screams that he's going to drop the Head butt from the top of the cage......

.......which is when the rest of the Titans of Wrestling come charging down the aisle....and all began frantically shaking the cage walls that Benoit is unsteadily perched on.....and they rattle it enough that the plucky Canadian loses his grip and goes crashing way, way down to the mat.....

......Hogan sees his opportunity, and one Legdrop of Doom later, Hollywood Hogan remains your WCW Heavyweight Champion.

Winner: .....and Still WCW Heavyweight Champion.....Hollywood Hogan

Team WCW is quickly out from the back, as the Titans of Wrestling look to storm the cage once more as they did last week.....even the Nasty Boys re-emerge to continue their earlier battle with Copeland and Cage....WCW was clearly prepared for this eventuality, because the remaining Titans don't get a chance to lock themselves inside the steel structure tonight, because Luger, Page, Hennig and the Giant are there.....with Luger and the Giant seemingly intent on getting hold of Hollywood Hogan.....so much so that they actually get in each other's way, and Hogan is able to escape the cage and bolt to the back, clutching the Big Gold Belt in those 24 inch pythons tightly.....

.....Schiavone says there will be no escape for Hogan Sunday when he's locked inside the War Games double cage, but as for tonight he is long gone.....not that it means the action is finished....the Nasty Boys are still battling Copeland and Cage on the outside, driving the two blonde pretty boys into the unforgiving steel....Hennig, Page, and a still groggy looking Chris Benoit are throwing down with Savage, Warrior, Buff and Traylor....in a battle that has also spilled to the outside of the cage.....but it's back INSIDE the steel structure that the real story is unfolding.....because Lex Luger and The Giant are currently in the middle of a rather heated debate about who's fault it was that Hogan escaped.....and more importantly, who is going to be the man to pick up the victory (and subsequent title opportunity) Sunday night on Pay Per View......

.....with all that going on inside the ring, the four Titan members brawling with Page, Hennig and Benoit on the outside are able to use their number advantage to over power the three WCW members, and begin to beat the trio down to the concrete floor....and with Tony Schiavone screaming that this is not the time for internal bickering, WCW need unity, the camera finds a lone figure standing high up in the rafters of the arena, looking down at the self destruction of WCW with an expressionless look on his face...........

.....as the show comes to a close.
