”....I can't believe you had me wait so long to put Shawn on the screen bro....two fricking months, we're lucky anyone remembers who he is...."

"....you're kidding me right?....Shawn Michaels?....the man who just had one of the hottest years in wrestling?....the man who held the WWF Title for a solid year?....and you think people are going to just forget him?....did it sound like they'd forgotten him tonight Vince? Because that was one hell of a pop...."

"....yeah, but imagine the pop we'd have got TWO FRICKING MONTHS AGO BRO...."

"....and what would you have done with him 'two fricking months ago'?...."

"....the same thing as I did last night, turn Hunter face and have Shawn save the day.......I'd have thought that was pretty obvious bro...."

"....why would Hunter have just turned two months ago though Vince? At least this way you had a logical reason for Shawn to be there...."

"....logic?....who the fu@k cares about logic?....this is wrestling bro, it's not freaking Hamlett...."

"....Vince, just humour me....this is better....gave you a better show too....I mean, not as good as Badd Blood, but decent....and speaking of better shows....World War 3.........when are you making the announcement?....."

"....tomorrow...........maybe..........or maybe I should just wait TWO FRICKING MONTHS....would that be better?...."

"....Vince, don't be a jackass all your life....”

Very nice Havoc to4sty. Interesting to see HBK jump right to the top of that Franchise Player list. I'm guessing HBK stays out of the title picture for now, and you also have to hope he doesn't corrupt JPL backstage.

Interesting to see where you go now with The Giant as well. He's not going to take getting punked by the Stinger that well...

And Tajiri's a highlight as well! Let's just get Mikey in here and we could have a real Unholy Alliance.

That was one hell of a Halloween! I can't wait to see where you go next in regards to Shawn, HPL, and Sting though; that's a wrinkle I definitely didn't see coming. But with Sting as such a loner, I don't know how long this little "alliance" would last, but at the very least it makes a good "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" set up.

Bret Hart
Brian Pillman
Flair and Anderson - Now you just reminded me of the New Midnight Express and now I'm sad.
Jeff Jarrett
Jake Roberts - Unfortunately Raven has kinda seemed to be right, as his former Flock mates have sunk rather than swam once out of his care.
Scorpio - A small Nation win to look dominant would be nice to see here.

Lex Luger - I doubt that this match will be the lead-in to Starrcade, so Lex would make a good Nitro challenger for next week.
Vader
C&C
Goldberg
Lance Storm
Tajiri - No matter where they go, Tajiri and Crazy will always fight one another.

Week 1, November 1997
Hilton Coliseum (Ames, Iowa)
ATT: 13,264
TV: 36.88

Quote:

It's Monday night, and that can mean only one thing.....Raw....is War....and we open up tonight's show with a quick recap of Vince McMahon's monumental announcement from last week....that in three weeks time, at the eleventh annual Survivor Series, we will see two teams face off....one team captained by Brian Pillman, one team captained by Steve Austin.....and the captain of the winning team will face the WWF Champion (whomever that may be) at the December's In Your House event.......now that wasn't the monumental part.....the monumental part wasn't even that Vince McMahon had hand picked a (pretty questionable) team for Steve Austin (that being Marty Jannetty, Savio Vega, Bart Gunn and Bob Holly)....no the monumental part of the announcement was who would be on Brian Pillman's team......The Nature Boy Ric Flair, The Enforcer Arn Anderson, The Big Red Problem Solver Kane.............and Vincent Kennedy McMahon.....that's right, the owner of the World Wrestling Federation is going to step into the ring for the very first time....and he is PERSONALLY going to make sure that it's Brian Pillman, NOT Stone Cold Steve Austin that gets that title opportunity......

....the video ends and we go live to the arena, where Vince McMahon and the rest of his Survivor Series team are standing in the ring....and Vince says that he's out here to set a few things straight.....he says that in no way has he stacked the deck against Steve Austin in that upcoming Survivor Series match....he says he's heard whispers that he has deliberately given Austin the weaker team, but nothing could be further from the truth.....

"....you've got Marty Jannetty, former WWF Tag Team AND Intercontinental Champion, Savio Vega, a legend in Mexico, holding many, many Championships, and then you have Bart Gunn and Bob Holly, two gentlemen both aquatinted with gold here in the World Wrestling Federation, with both men holding the Tag Team Titles, numerous times in the case of Mr. Gunn.....now does that sound like a "weak" team to you people?....."

.....it does....no matter how much spin Vince puts on it......unperturbed however McMahon continues, stating that he's given Steve Austin the advantage here.....after all, he COULD have given him a Kevin Nash, or a Scott Steiner? Obviously the crowd pops for that, but McMahon says that's not what's best for Austin at all.....do they really think Kevin Nash or Scott Steiner care whether Steve Austin gets a shot at the WWF Title?...they're liable to stab him in the back at any given minute.....where as the team he has now, they're all hungry....they all have something to prove.....and each and every one of them will give it 110% to ensure that Steve Austin's team come out victorious.....and to show just how hungry they are, Marty Jannetty has already challenged Brian Pillman this evening, while Bart Gunn and Bob Holly have requested a match with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson.....that takes guts....that shows their intensional fortitude.....that shows that they are the right partners for Mr. Austin....

.....the crowd clearly don't agree.....but McMahon hasn't finished with his argument yet.....saying that not only does Austin have a team filled with potential, not only does he have a team full of partners who will be desperate to pick up a win on pay per view, but Brian Pillman has a partner who is not even a professional wrestler.....a partner who has never wrestled a day in his life......Brian Pillman has "me!".....

.....McMahon says that he's been fighting his whole life.....he fought against adversity to become a bonafide billionaire.....fighting other promoters who think they have what it takes to compete against Vince McMahon.....fighting against the press, the bad publicity.....the Phil Mushnick's of the world...the self-righteous, egotistical, miserable son's of a bitches who think they have the right to decide what YOU the viewer should be watching (FYI, Mr. Mushnick is NOT a fan of the current Raven/Roberts storyline)....he says he even fought the US Government....and won......but when it comes to stepping between these ropes and fighting by the rules of the ring, he is wholly unprepared.....which means that Steve Austin's team most certainly DO have the advantage at the Survivor Series.....but it's also why Mr. McMahon is now leaving for the evening......he's hired a private gym down the street....he's set up a ring.....and he's going down there right now to train, prepare, and ready himself for the biggest fight of his life....so good evening, and enjoy the show....

Rating: A*

Quote:

VS.

The Nature Boy and The Enforcer stay right where they are as Mr. McMahon leaves for the evening, because their match is up next, and their opponents (if Vince is to be believed) requested this match personally......it's Bart Gunn and Bob Holly, neither of whom have exactly been lighting the WWF up with their success recently, and both of whom are sporting slightly different looks that they used to.....maybe they think a change of look will lead to a change of fortune.....

.....it didn't this evening.....they put on a pretty good showing for themselves, but let's be real, they're facing Ric Flair and Arn Anderson.....and The Nature Boy made Bob Holly submit to the Figure Four in about 8 minutes.

Winner: Ric Flair & Arn Anderson
Rating: B

Quote:

Following that victory, Ric Flair directs our attention to the Titantron, where we are treated to a shot of Vince McMahon arriving at that nearby gym, where Jerry Briscoe and Pat Patterson are waiting for him, with an array of sparring partners standing in the wings.....

.....Patterson and Briscoe tell McMahon that they have just three weeks to get him into ring shape, so this training is going to be intense, probably the hardest three weeks of his life, but they say if anyone can do it, it's Mr. McMahon....

....they say they are going to give him a crash course in ALL aspects of professional wrestling, saying they've covered all the bases....and as they indicate behind them it looks like they really have......they have a competitor dressed in amateur wrestling gear.....they have what looks to be a masked luchadore style wrestler.....a HUGE guy with muscles on his muscles.....someone who looks like they're straight from the backyard with scars crisscrossing his forehead, I don't think even ECW would touch this guy.....and finally a very serious looking Japanese gentleman......

....Vince assesses the sight in front of him, before letting out a big gulp, telling Patterson and Briscoe to get it started as the scene ends.....

Rating: B+

Quote:

Next up we go to a pre-recorded segment of Raven sitting on the floor with his back to the wall in the vestibule of an old gothic style church.....he says that it's obvious that the Snake wants his retribution, but his Faith is going to be the roadblock on his path to revenge.....his Faith will either have to be very strong, or cast to the wayside (much as Raven was).....so let's test how strong that Faith really is....

".....because Snake, if you want me....then you are going to have to cast off YOUR morals and sink to MY depths and depravity.....traverse MY divine comedy.....MY purgatory.....MY paradise.....and MY nine circles of hell.....Dante had his inferno, as you will have yours........starting tonight.....as the Deity of the Damned welcome's you to the first circle of MY own personal hell............Limbo....."

.....Raven explains (for the uneducated and unwashed in the crowd) that Limbo is the final resting place for those not evil enough for purgatory, yet not pure enough for paradise......for those who did not sin in life, but did not possess the faith to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven......much like tonight's opponent......

.....he says that while Christopher Daniels cast no sin against Jake Roberts, he lacked faith in his Deity....he rejected Raven....he rejected salvation.....and he rejected paradise......he craved his freedom and he's been wallowing in (career) Limbo ever since.....

"........the game, much like your journey, is only just beginning......I'll be waiting on the other side.....Quote the Raven.....Nevermore....."

Rating: A

Quote:

VS.

Nine Circles of Hell Match: Limbo

Christopher Daniels has certainly been stuck in limbo since his separation from Raven and dissolving of The Flock.....this former Light Heavyweight Champion has done very little in fact, leaving Rick Rude to question how wise his decision to lack faith in his "deity" a few months back really was.....

....as for tonight, his match didn't go any better than his career recently has been, he put on a good showing, but Jake is a man on a mission, and Christopher Daniels was simply in his way.....a DDT took care of that, as Jake leaves limbo behind him with the one, the two, and the three.....

Winner: Jake Roberts

From there we cut back to the Vince McMahon training/sparring session.....and he's currently inside the makeshift ring with our amateur competitor......and for a man with no formal training whatsoever, Vince is certainly making it look easy in there....in fact, you would be forgiven for thinking that McMahon's competitor is DELIBERATELY making him look like a million bucks....and as Vince hits yet ANOTHER takedown, Briscoe finally brings this session to a close, as we go back to the arena.....

....where Dok Hendrix is standing by with Ted DiBiase and his Million Dollar Corporation, who he asks about Jeff Jarretts apparent reluctance to defend the European Championship, preferring instead to compete in a traditional Survivor Series match, against two men (in Ken Shamrock and Matt Hardy) who don't even have enough partners for their team yet?....

.....DiBiase cackles at that, saying that's the different between the Million Dollar Corporation, and men like Ken Shamrock and Matt Hardy.....because when you've got money, you've ALWAYS got back up.....

....Rich Steiner laughs at that too, slipping a (single) dollar bill into Dok's top pocket and patting him on the cheek, as Jarrett says that he's not reluctant about anything....he's more than willing to defend his title, in fact, he's going to put the gold on the line tonight....against Billy Kidman....and if Shamrock and Hardy can't find two more partners by Survivor Series, then that's too bad for them....

.....with that the whole group starts laughing and walks off, leaving Dok Hendrix to send us back down to ringside....but not before Rich Steiner walks back into shot, retrieving his (single) dollar bill from the pocket of Dok.....our European Championship match is up next.

Jeff Jarrett might be reluctant to put his European Title on the line against Ken Shamrock....but apparently he has no such qualms about putting the gold on the line against Billy Kidman....although it almost came back to bite him in the ass....Billy Kidman is a former WWF Light Heavyweight Champion after all, and he almost picked up the win on a number of occasions here tonight.....

....luckily for Jarrett there is strength in numbers, and as DiBiase distracts the attention of the official, Rich Steiner runs down the aisle to shove Kidman off the top turnbuckle (as he stands poised to deliver the Shooting Star Press.....he hits the mat hard, and Jarrett quickly applies the Figure Four leg lock right in the middle of the ring, leaving Kidman little choice but to submit.

Winner: ....and Still WWF European Champion....Jeff Jarrett

It's back down to the gym we go, where having dispensed with Amateur Alan, it's Backyard Billy's turn to go a few rounds with the chairman, and as Dusty Rhodes might say, he's bought all the plunder with him baby.....the ring is littered with all manner of "hardcore" items....trashcans, cookie trays, chairs, there's a broom in there somewhere....again (clearly under the instruction to feed Vince's ego) this scrub is taking an almighty beating at the hands of Vince, culminating in a chair shot that finally puts him down for good.....

.....Patterson assists in rolling the nobody out of the ring while Vince towels himself down.....that's when the camera zooms in on Briscoe in the background, handing Musclebound Mike a rather full looking brown envelope, which Mr. Muscles shoves into his gym bag, before heading into the ring.....

.....Patterson tells Vince there's no time for rest periods, not with the short time they have to train....he's shown he can wrestle, he's proved he can brawl....now let's test his strength.....and that's exactly what this is, a good old fashioned test of strength, and as the two men lock hands, and McMahon slowly begins to get overpowered, it looks to be a test of strength that the owner of the WWF isn't going to win.....at least not until Briscoe begins frantically attracting the attention of this strongman, giving the universal "cut" signal as he waves his hand across his neck, before rubbing his fingers his fingers and thumb together in another universal gesture....money.....

.....suddenly Vince must get a surge of adrenaline, because he goes from being almost overpowered to back to his feet.....and miraculously he manages to power his opponent down to his knees, where Patterson quickly ends the "match" as Vince picks up another victory.....

We don't head back to the arena just yet though.....instead we go to a second pre-recorded segment, and it looks like The Undertaker has dusted off the cobwebs on his old workshop, because he's currently sanding down the lip of an open casket.....

.....he stops every few seconds to glance up at something obscured to the viewer by the upright coffin lid, and while we can't see what he's looking at, we can certainly hear what he has to say....

.....he says that in three short weeks, Ahmed Johnson's day of reckoning will have arrived.....he says that Ahmed Johnson has built a title reign on the name and the legend of the Deadman....on beating the Deadman.....on putting the Deadman down.....but there is one problem with that boast, he put the Undertaker down.......but he didn't put him out.....

".....Ahmed Johnson.....you and your manager may refer to you as the Walking Armageddon, but you have no idea what an Armageddon is until you have felt the Wrath of the Reaper.....and as the sands of time slowly drain away on your WWF Title reign...at Survivor Series...you will know what Armageddon is....and you will.....Rest......in........Peace......"

......with that, the Deadman slams the lid of the casket shut.....and the camera zooms in on exactly what it is the Undertaker was looking at..........a TV screen.....replaying the same thing over and over again......Ahmed Johnson driving the tennis racquet of Jim Cornette into the throats of the Undertaker, crushing the Deadman's larynx....it looks as though the Phenom is neither willing to forgive.......or forget......as Survivor Series creeps ever closer.

It was announced on Superstars (that I completely forgot to post this week) that the Nation of Domination would be competing at the Survivor Series in a traditional 5 on 5 elimination match, against the combination of Rey Mysterio, Dean Malenko, Bradshaw, Nelson.....and following last weeks beatdown, The British Bulldog......and tonight, as Mysterio faces off against Scorpio, it's a packed house, because along with the two men in the ring, we also have eight men on the floor, because BOTH Survivor Series teams make their way out to accompany their respective partners here......

.....these two meshed pretty well, and had a great high flying competition that highlighted exactly why both men were former Light Heavyweight Champions....you could argue that the men on the outside were somewhat of a distraction, but it at least lead to a clean fight, with Big Nelson and the rest making sure that the Nation of Domination kept OUT of the match.....that SHOULD have lead to Mysterio picking up the win.....however, The Nation of Domination ARE the more experienced unit here, against a group of men with their own individual vendettas....which is why Faarooq is still able to make the difference in this one, and Scorpio picks up a very tainted victory.

Winner: Scorpio

The bell sounds and the rest of the Nation of Domination climb into the ring, no doubt looking to congratulate their victorious member....of course, Rey Mysterio's team mates aren't about to just stand by and watch, and they follow suit, forming a human shield in front of the much smaller man.....

....there's a tense few minutes as these two teams stare each other down, with Nelson telling Faarooq that at Survivor Series he won't be able to run and hide from the big man anymore....and Nelson is going to break him in half.....

....Faarooq has always been quick to trash talk, asking Nelson "who's running? Who's hiding? I'm right here punk", which Nelson takes as an invite to fight.....as soon as he takes a step forward however, the Leader of the Nation quickly bolts from the ring, ordering his men to follow him as they head back up the ramp, telling a nearby camera "not today....I got his punk ass at Survivor Series, I don't need to do this now".....Jim Ross suggests that Faarooq seems quite reluctant to tangle with Nelson, but Rick Rude disagrees, calling it a tactical move, as Nelson, Davey Boy, Mysterio, Malenko and Bradshaw watch the Nation leave........and we head back down the street.....

......Vince finally puts his man away with THE worst looking Shining Wizard known to man....it looked so bad n fact that you would be forgiven for wondering if it was delivered terribly deliberately....to, you know....emphasise the fact that Vince McMahon is NOT a wrestler......anyway, it's over regardless......four down.....one to go.....

We go back to the arena, just in time for the arrival of the brand new (two time) WWF Tag Team Champions (of the worldddddddd) it's the Road Dogg Jesse James, the Bad Ass Billy Gunn....the New Age Outlaws....along with their very own Calamity Jane, their new manager....Sunny.....

.....the trio are obviously pleased with themselves after last weeks highway robbery, putting an end to Al Snow and Chris Candido's Championship dream after just 24 hours, and as The Road Dogg is quick to point out, the New Age Outlaws second reign is already seven times longer than Snow and Candido's ONLY reign.....

.....which brings out the former champions.....and if the Outlaws are pleased with themselves, Snow and Candido are obviously not quite as pleased....a) with the taunting, b) with the fact that the rewards for all their hard work was snatched away from them in less than a day, and c) with the manner in which they lost those titles....the (probably inevitable) betrayal of Sunny.....

.....Candido says that he SHOULD be surprised at Sunny turning her back on them and costing them the championships....but the sad fact is that he's not surprised at all....in FACT, he'd been warning Al Snow that this day would come from the moment Al bought that "backstabbing b!tch" into their business.....but Al wouldn't listen, and what's done is done.....now there's just the little matter of their re-match....after all, they've beat the Outlaws twice before, they may as well go for the trifecta.....

.....unfortunately, The Road Dogg has some bad news for them.....see they didn't just hire Sunny to help them WIN the titles, they hired Sunny to help them KEEP the titles.....and the Road Dogg and The Bad Ass are pleased to announce, that after Miss Sweet Little Ass here had a......"conversation" with Mr. McMahon, there will be NO automatic rematch for Snow and Candido......but they will have the opportunity to EARN a shot at the Outlaws titles......because at Survivor Series, there's going to be a tag team survival match for the WWF Tag Team Titles.....a four way ELIMINATION tag team match......with the last team standing walking out with those titles around their waist......James says that the qualifying matches start next week, and Snow and Candido are more than welcome to put their hats in the race.....

.....Snow says then that's exactly what they'll do.....BUT.....since they're already out here right now, why don't he and Candido give them a little taste of what's in store for them at Survivor Series.....

......it looks like we are going to come to blows here....but Sunny puts a stop to that, telling her former clients that no, that's not happening....."because while I was having that deep....intimate.............intense "meeting" with Mr. McMahon, he agreed that you two losers might be a little bit emotional this evening......and he said that should either of you boys lay so much as a finger on MY boys tonight, you don't get a shot at these titles at all......EVER.....so if you excuse us......we'll be leaving now".....

.....well.....what Sunny wants, apparently she gets.....and there's nothing Snow and Candido can do but let the Outlaws leave....not that they have to watch it....and they turn their backs to discuss presumably their strategy for this next so called qualifying match.......which is when the Outlaws charge back into the ring and nail both Snow and Candido in the back of the skull, leaving the former champions laying, as the two time champs laugh their way all the way to the back......those damn Outlaws did it again.

VS.

When the New Age Outlaws get into it with Al Snow and Chris Candido, their segments often surprise me with how well they grade....it really shouldn't surprise me by now, their angles together regularly churn out A/A*'s.....what DID surprise me was how well our next match went, as Brian Pillman attempted to show the world that he is a valid replacement for Shawn Michaels, by doing the one thing that only the Heartbreak Kid has managed......he got an A rated match out of perennial midcarder Marty Jannetty......

.....impressive right?.....more impressive was the fact that this match only went 15 minutes.....and Jannetty only put in a C+ performance....meaning this was ALL down to Brian Pillman (and his A* performance)......

.....Marty had a little more offence in this outing than Bart Gunn and Bob Holly did earlier, but the result was still the same, with Pillman finishing Jannetty off clean with the Hangman's Neckbreaker he calls the "Timebomb"....

Following that victory the rest of Team Pillman (with the exception of Mr. McMahon) make their way out to congratulate the Corporate Cannon....Pillman and Flair talk up the Survivor Series match, saying that if their elimination match goes as well as their matches tonight...."and it will".....then you're looking at your next number one contender for the WWF Title right here.....and for anyone who thinks that Mr. McMahon is going to be the weak link on their team, then let's see how he gets on with his final opponent of the evening......

.....and with that the Titantron flickers back to life, showing Vince McMahon ready for his final challenge....Amateur Alan, Backyard Billy, Musclebound Mike, and Puro Pete have all fallen to the Mac-Man tonight, and Vince is looking pretty cocky as he steps into the ring with the masked Mexican sensation, Lucha Larry......

.....Briscoe says they have tested Vince's mat work, brawling, strength, and ability.....and he's passed with flying colours (or hefty pay off' if the video evidence is anything to go by)......now it's time for agility.....it's time to run the ropes.....

.....Vince and Larry start with some basic crisscrossing....no problems there......crisscross with a drop down....piece of cake....crisscross and a leapfrog....you're a natural Mr. McMahon....so far so good.....so good in fact that Vince gets a little cocky and drops poor Larry with a hefty shoulderblock.....

.....Briscoe congratulates Vince on his good work, telling him that they can wrap it up for one day....Vince doesn't want to though, he's enjoying this, and we have another crisscross with a shoulder block.....and another.....then Vince decides to mix it up, and charges at Larry, who throws a slow, weak looking clothesline that McMahon easily ducks.....

.....hits the rebound on the ropes.....

.....and then gets dropped with a Thesz Press from Lucha Larry....who proceeds to hammer the skull of poor Mr. McMahon with stinging right hands......

.....Briscoe and Patterson are agasp, and quickly send the remaining sparring partners into break it up........but one by one they get beaten back....beaten down....just beaten.....until finally Lucha Larry drops Musclebound Mike with a very familiar looking Stunner.......before adjusting his mask, flipping off Briscoe and Patterson, and going right back to pounding on Vince McMahon......

.....there is a split screen between the gym and the arena there, as McMahon's Corporate Goons wig out in the ring, and Rick Rude screams that Steve Austin knows full well that if he lays one hand on Mr. McMahon between now and Survivor Series that the match is off.....is he stupid? Jim Ross on the other hand says he doesn't know what Rude is talking about, he doesn't see Stone Cold Steve Austin anywhere, just a young hungry luchador trying to make a name for himself......

.....it's obviously Stone Cold Steve Austin.....you know it....I know it....Briscoe and Patterson hit the ring and both get dropped by a Stunner a piece.....they know it.....and as Lucha Larry drags a battered Mr. McMahon to his feet, flips him off.....kicks him in the gut.....and drops HIM with a Stunner, I dare say Vince knows it too.....but proving it, that's a very different matter......and as Lucha Larry stands amongst a sea of fallen bodies, the crowd goes crazy.....and we go to a hype package for the Wolfpac vs. The Hart Foundation Survivor Series match.....

.....which brings us nicely into our main event, featuring two men from those two teams facing off, as Sean Waltman goes one on one with The Hitman, Bret Hart....and much like our earlier match which saw both Rey Mysterio and Scorpio's Survivor Series teams at ringside, it's jam packed on the floor here, with Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Scott Steiner accompanying Sean Waltman, while The Hitman is out with the entire Hart Foundation......

....with a bit of luck these two warring factions can put this feud to be once and for all at Survivor Series, with Bret Hart stating that he's moving on up to bigger and better things from here (mainly the WWF Title) while you've got to assume that Kevin Nash has title aspirations of his own......

.....this match wasn't quite as good as I was expecting, but then I suppose with so many variable factors on the floor it was always going to suffer....the action in the ring was decent enough, but with so much bad blood surrounding the ring, it was only a matter of time before chaos erupted, and when it did, Bret Hart was there to capitalise on it, catching Waltman in a small package for the win, and then bolting quickly from the ring and disappearing to the back with his team, leaving a frustrated Nash, Hall and Steiner to watch them leave from inside the ring as they check on Sean Waltman's condition.

.....they come to a stop at ringside, where as slowly as they arrived they turn and leave, as the smoke swirls around the arena floor, and a dark blue light bathes over the crowd......

.....screw this, Ahmed Johnson doesn't have time for the Undertakers mind games, and the WWF Champion marches out from the back (with his title around his waist) and struts right down to where the casket is positioned at ringside......for all his bravado, even the Walking Armageddon Ahmed Johnson hesitates, before finally whipping open the lid of the casket to reveal........

......a giggling James E. Cornette.....much to the disappointment of the crowd, who let out a chorus of boo's as a smirking Ahmed Johnson helps his manager out of the wooden box.....

.....the pair climb into the ring, where Cornette mocks the crowd, asking them were they expecting someone else?.....he says that's the problem with the world today....unrealistic expectations......he says that the world expected the Undertaker to defeat Cornettes (then client) Kane at Wrestlemania.....he didn't......the world expected the Undertaker to walk out victorious when he and Ahmed clashed in tag team action.......he didn't........the world expected the Undertaker to walk into the King of the Ring, crush Ahmed Johnson on his way, and walk out with a WWF title shot.........and he didn't.....in fact, he didn't walk out at all......he was stretchered out......and it was Ahmed Johnson that claimed that title opportunity, and Ahmed Johnson that became WWF Champion.......and now, five months later, the world thinks that The Undertaker is going to walk into Survivor Series, wreak his revenge, defeat Ahmed Johnson.....and walk out the WWF Champion........except he won't.....because that, just like every other assumption that these idiots have made.....is an unrealistic expectation.......

.....:::::!!!!!GONG!!!!!:::::.....

......which is when the Gong hits again.....and the lights flicker.....and as the arena rumbles, the lid of the casket slams shut.....before it all goes calm again, and Jim Cornette continues.....he tells the Undertaker that parlour tricks won't win him the WWF Title......his past accomplishments won't win him the WWF Title.....and the "legend" of the Undertaker CERTAINLY won't win him the WWF Championship......

....Cornette climbs out to the floor and heads around to the casket, telling the crowd that the Undertaker is just that......legend.....folklore......he's all reputation, no substance.....a hollow, empty threat, as hollow and empty as this stupid wooden box......

.....and with that Cornette whips open the lid of the casket.....

......and goes wide eyed as the Undertaker sits bolt upright.....and those wide eyes bulge when the Deadman wraps his hand around Cornette's throat......

......Ahmed hops to the outside in defence of his manager, but the Undertaker thrusts Cornette at the Champion, buying himself enough time to climb out of the casket.....Johnson charges his Survivor Series opponent, and the two men trade blows, before the Undertaker finally gains the advantage, slams Ahmed's head off the ring apron, and rolls him under the bottom rope and back inside the squared circle.....

......Johnson comes for the Deadman again, but the Undertaker is fired up, and much to the delight of the crowd is able to pick the WWF Champion up and get him into position for the Tombstone Piledriver.....

......Ahmed wriggles like crazy, and Jim Cornette finally jumps up onto the apron and grabs his clients leg, enabling him to shake free and quickly dive to the outside where he and his manager beat a hasty retreat up the aisle.....and as The Undertaker drops to one knee (much to the approval of these fans) Jim Ross questions just how "empty" of a threat the Deadman really is, because at Survivor Series, Ahmed Johnson is going to find out......goodnight folks.

Week 1, November 1997
Kansas Coliseum (Wichita, Kansas)
ATT: 11,496
TV: 19.25
Announce Team: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Mike Tenay

Quote:

We are just 24 hours removed from what Tony Schiavone is calling the most important night in all of wrestling history......we are just 24 hours removed from Halloween Havoc 97.....and as the announcers (and the still images that open the show) tell us, we are just 24 hours removed from the World Championship Wrestling debut......of Shawn Michaels......

.....with that being said, we don't have to wait long to see the group that was there front and centre for that debut, because the Titans of Wrestling are making their way out, and much to Schiavone's confusion (who clearly thinks that the appearance of Shawn Michaels should have these men looking more concerned than they do) they seem to be in a pretty damn good mood....and Vince Russo tells us why......

......he says that last night, a lot of people thought that they were going to see the beginning of the end of the Titans of Wrestling....they thought that Hollywood Hogan and Jean Paul Levesque were going to tear each other apart, tearing the Titans up with them as they went......well they were half right if nothing else, or a third at least.....because yes, Hollywood Hogan tore Levesque's head clean off this shoulders, but the Titans...the Titans are standing here stronger than ever.......now yes, the arrival of Shawn Michaels was an unexpected turn of events, and an unexpected turn of events that the Titans weren't happy about....BUT....after having a rather heated conversation with the face of the Championship Committee (Eric Bischoff) about why exactly the man who runs this place (Vincent Russo Esq) wasn't informed about this new signing, Mr. Bischoff kindly informed Russo that it was because nobody signed Shawn Michaels.....Eric Bischoff didn't sign Shawn Michaels.....WCW didn't sign Shawn Michaels.....Shawn Michaels is NOT an employee of World Championship Wrestling......

".....YET..........because you can consider this Shawn Michaels official invite to join the greatest group of men ever assembled.....the Titans of Wrestling....."

....Russo says they might have started out on the wrong foot last night, but there is no doubt that Shawn Michaels is a TRUE Titan of Wrestling......seen it all, done it all, and a man the Vince Russo knows very, very well, because when Vince Russo was working for that little company up north, it was Vinny Ru himself that handed Shawn Michaels the ball to begin with, and now he wants to hand it to him all over again......

.....Hogan takes the microphone to let Michaels know that as far as he is concerned, he can't think of a better man to join the Titans than Shawn Michaels, before passing the microphone around as every other Titan (with the exception of the mute Warrior) expresses the same sentiments....they're really laying it on thick in an effort to get Shawn's signature.....in fact, Hogan says that he would go so far as be willing to allow Jean Paul Levesque back into the Titans too if that would make Michaels happy.....

".....and all he would have to do, is kiss my Hollywood boots, and we could put all this behind us brother......"

.....with the pitch made, and the Titans seemingly confident that Shawn Michaels will make the right choice, Russo moves on to other business.....he says that after a VERY successful Halloween Havoc for the Titans, which saw Randy Savage and The Warrior both walk out victorious....Adam Copeland and Christian Cage doing what the Nasty Boys couldn't (bringing home the Tag Team Titles) and Hollywood doing what everyone knew he would (retaining the WCW Title)....it's time to look forward to the NEXT big WCW event.....World War 3.....60 men....3 rings.....and a future WCW title opportunity waiting for the winner......except there's just one problem with that......there aren't 60 wrestlers in the world that are worthy of Wrestling for the opportunity to face Hollywood Hogan for the number one championship in all of professional wrestling......

".....so basically, since I'm the boss......that ain't happening....."

....but when Russo takes away with one hand, he gives with the other.....he says that the World War 3 concept was a mess anyway.....so many bodies, so little space, no one could see what was happening and ANYONE could get a fluke win in a situation like that.....but there will be no fluke win at our November Pay Per View, but there will be.....Mayhem......

....because as WCW Mayhem, you're going to see the Mayhem Match......ONE ring (not three) THIRTY superstars (not sixty) two men start, one man enters every two minutes, and the only way to eliminate your opponents, is to throw them over the top rope and down to the floor.....(sooooo, the Royal Rumble then right Vince?)....Russo says that to make things interesting, the winner WILL get a shot at the WCW Championship.......and they'll get it at THE Pay Per View of the year.....the granddaddy of them all.....Starrcade.....as a promo video airs for the latest event on the calendar.....WCW Mayhem....

....following which we have our first match of the evening, and it's rookie vs veteran when the undefeated Bill Goldberg goes one on one with Earl Robert Eaton.....

....Eaton may be better known as one half of numerous successful tag teams, but he's no slouch when it comes to singles action, capturing the highly coveted Television Title back in early 1991, and even taking the Nature Boy Ric Flair to the limit while holding that very Title, narrowly missing out on capturing his first World Title when Flair defeated him two falls to one in a best of three falls match at the Clash of the Champions XV......

.....that being said, Bill Goldberg is no normal wrestler....and after fighting his way through both Meng AND the Barbarian last night, The Earl doesn't fare much better here tonight, as Goldberg takes his undefeated streak to 39-0 after a jarring Spear and Jackhammer combination.....

Winner: Bill Goldberg

....they air the (few) highlights of the match (it wasn't exactly a long one) and when we go back to the live show Lance Storm is making his way out, presumably for his upcoming title defence.....unfortunately Mr. Goldberg has yet to make his way to the back, and the two men cross paths in the aisleway....

....Storm (rather arrogantly) tells Goldberg to "step aside rookie, show some respect and let a REAL wrestler past" before dismissing the older and larger (yet less experienced) Goldberg with a wave of his hand....

.....obviously Billy Boy doesn't take to kindly to that....and after taking a good long look at the title belt around Lance Storms waist, he shoves the Champion to one side (almost knocking him on his ass) and marches to the back.....Lance Storm might want to be more careful about how he speaks to certain individuals around here.....unless he's looking to become another statistic in Bill Goldberg's winning streak.

Brad Armstrong has some pretty sweet entrance music.....and up until about two months ago, was getting featured on WCW television more than he had since probably his brief run as Light Heavyweight Champion back in 92....of course, that was before World Championship Wrestling got a little bit of a boost in the Midcard thanks to the new arrivals from up north, since then Brad hasn't featured quite so much.....he's still a good hand to have around when you need a solid match from a dependable opponent though, and Mr. Dependable did his job and THE job here, as Lance Storm picks up another win with the Canadian Maple Leaf.

From there we go to the back, where Mean Gene is standing by with the man who defeated United States Champion Eddie Guerrero last night, and yet is NOT standing here with the US Title, because his opponent got himself intentionally disqualified as Hennig was literally one second away from capturing the gold....

....Hennig say that this is becoming a trend for him here in WCW....he SHOULD be standing here with the WCW Championship after defeating Hollywood Hogan, just as he SHOULD be standing here as US Champion after defeating Eddie Guerrero.....but he's not.....because Eddie Guerrero knows, just like Hollywood Hogan knows.....

".....that nobody beats Curt Hennig......NOBODY......"

"......hey holmes, I didn't NEED to beat you esŤ.....I just needed to walk out as STILL the greatest United States Champion of all time....."

.....that brings in the "Papi of Perfection" Eddie Guerrero, walking into shot with a sh!t eating grin on his face and the US title over his shoulder.....he pats the gold before smirking at Henning, saying that since this title is still over his shoulder, then obviously his plan worked.....

.....Hennig asks how Guerrero can call himself the greatest US Champion of all time, when he couldn't defeat Curt last night? Eddie says that's the champions prerogative holmes, Eddie doesn't have to beat Curt, he just has to make sure he's not pinned and doesn't submit.....

".....and esŤ, that's exactly what I did....."

.....Curt tells Guerrero that if he's got any guts he would give Hennig another shot at the gold, but Eddie shakes his head, telling Curt that he had his shot.....and he blew it.....before turning to walk away.......

....and walks right into Eric Bischoff.....Bischoff tells Eddie that ACTUALLY, as the public face of the Championship committee, he's going to make sure that Curt Henning DOES get another shot at that US title.....and he's going to get it next week......live, on Monday Nitro.....

Quote:

.....Guerrero and Hennig both walk out of shot, one far happier than the other, but Bischoff sticks around.....Gene asks him if Russo's claims are true? That Shawn Michaels is NOT a member of the WCW roster? Bischoff says that unfortunately, as of right now, Shawn Michaels is indeed a free agent, but he's hopeful that a deal can be reached which sees Mr. Michaels signature on the bottom of a contract signed by Eric Bischoff....NOT, Vince Russo....

.....speaking of Vince Russo, he announced earlier in the evening that the World War 3 event would be being replaced by a brand new Pay Per View, WCW Mayhem, in which the winner of that match would be in receipt of a shot at the World title at Starrcade.....the Championship Committee have no problem with that, in fact it makes sense that the challenger for the WCW Title at the biggest (and most important) show of the year has to earn it, and if you can defeat 29 other wrestlers you will certainly have proved that you deserve it.....BUT....with that being said, Mr. Russo neglected to mention who would be challenging for the WCW Title AT Mayhem.....after all, Hollywood Hogan doesn't just get the night off.....

....so since the man who challenges for the gold at Starrcade will have to earn it, then the man to challenge at Mayhem will have to earn it too......and that man, will be the winner of tonight's main event, which sees Lex Luger and The Giant (two men who's match last night had no decisive winner) along with Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Benoit (two men that Bischoff says were robbed of victory last night) face off in a four way match, for a shot at Hollywood Hogan and the WCW Championship.

The Totally Awesome Trinity make their way out next, as the Titans of Wrestling's Adam Copeland and Christian Cage (along with The Enforcer, Ray Traylor) put their newly won Tag Team Titles on the line against The Soul Train (who have fat Teddy Long in their corner)....Copeland and Cage defeated four absolute behemoths in Road Warriors Hawk and Animal, Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain last night to capture these tag titles.....they're not about to lose them again in less than 24 hours (little dig at Al Snow and Chris Candido's short reign from the commentary team there) especially against a tag team that are rarely featured on Monday Nitro in Ernest Miller and Ice Train.......the Titans win, after a Downward Spiral from Christian to Miller.

Winner(s): ....and Still WCW Tag Team Champions....Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

Mean Gene makes his way out for a word with our new champions.....and Copeland and Cage do his job for him, totally shilling the Hotline.....call now (1-900-909-9900) to hear all the Totally Awesome news on the Totally Awesome Trinity.....wanna know Adam Copeland's hair grooming tips? What's The Enforcers favourite rom-com? (FYI, it's Sleepless in Seattle) Call now, and key in option 3......

.....Gene thanks them for the plug, before asking them what happens now.....they did what the Titans hired them for, they won the WCW Tag Team Titles.....but with those belts they also gained a huge target on their backs.....there are going to be a slew of teams looking to take them out......Copeland disagrees, asking who are they supposed to be worried about?.....The Road Warriors? Awesome and Cain? ("we totally beat them both last night at the same time") these two shlubs The Soul Train? ("you want soul Gene, you should totally hear the Enforcer singing in the showers.....he makes Marvin Gaye sound like Marvin No-Way") the Pitbulls? The Samoan SWAT Team? ("we'll just throw them a chicken bone and watch them fight it out over the scraps")......

.....Copeland says that no one is taking these titles, because the Totally Awesome Trinity won't let them.....now if he will excuse them, they've gotta go to the back and get ready to welcome the NEWEST Titan to the group, Shawn Michaels....after all.....he only has till the end of the show to make the right decision.

Yoshihiro Tajiri had quite the evening last night, turning on the man who has been there on numerous occasions for him as of late (Jeff Hardy) to align himself with the men that have been trying to put him down (Vandenberg and Mortis).....even so, it's an unusual sight to see this clean cut superstar walking out with the Sinister James Vandenberg by his side.....be it the turn or the fact that he now has a manager in his ear, Tajiri is able to use this new found momentum to pick up an impressive victory over Super Crazy, in what was a decent little match....

Winner: Yoshihiro Tajiri
Rating: C

Quote:

....the fun doesn't end there though, and as Vandenberg joins his newest client in the ring, Mortis makes his way down the aisle, collecting a microphone from ringside which he presents to his manager....

....Vandenberg says that while the cleansing and purification of WCW continues, the cleansing of Yoshihiro Tajiri is complete, as he now marches to the beat of James Vandenberg's drum....unlike Jeff Hardy, Tajiri knows better than to fight a losing battle, and this right here (indicating to himself, Mortis and Tajiri) is a losing battle for anyone stupid enough to take the challenge.........and anyone not quick enough to get out of our way.....

....at that, Vandenberg indicates towards Super Crazy, who is still down on the canvas.....and Mortis doesn't need asking twice, as he swoops on the fallen Mexican star, delivering an almighty beating that he punctuates with the Flatliner......

.....which finally bought out the man that's been fighting that losing battle for months now.....Jeff Hardy.....so far Jeff has been unsuccessful in two attempts to defeat the Masked Mortis in one on one competition....although neither win has been clean.....but this latest loss must have left the sourest of tastes in his mouth (and sting in his eyes) after Tajiri, a man he thought to be an ally sprayed a green mist like substance in his face.....

.....Hardy is certainly fired up....and he uses that adrenaline to take the fight to both Tajiri AND Mortis, finally whipping both men into the same turnbuckle, and crushing two birds with one stone as he connects with a one man Poetry in Motion to both of Vandenberg's wards......

.....unfortunately, adrenaline was only going to get Jeff so far, and eventually he takes his eye off the game.....or off Tajiri at least.....who sneaks up behind Hardy as the youngster is working over Mortis....spins him around......

......and sprays that green mist right in his face again.......

.....Hardy drops to the mat clutching at his eyes once more, as Vandenberg cackles that if Hardy won't see the light, then maybe he should be forced to live in the dark......and it looks as though the beating is about to continue......

.....at least it does until these three men come walking out from the back.....

.....apparently this "losing battle" doesn't include The Forgotten.....because as Sullivan, Bigelow and Vader make their way out, Vandenberg, Mortis and Tajiri (wisely) beat a hasty retreat....Jeff Hardy has a match with Big Van Vader up next, and while he is in no condition to defend himself, it doesn't look as though the Forgotten care at all.....

VS.

Fighting a man like Big Van Vader for any normal man is a task in itself.......fighting a man like Big Van Vader when you're a twenty year old, 216lb, half blind man? That's just suicide.....and Vader knows it, as he climbs into the ring, bully's the official into starting the match, and proceeds to give Jeff Hardy the biggest beating of his young life......

.....Hardy's ONLY way into this match would have perhaps been his speed, ability, and devil may care attitude, but for any of that to be effective he would have to be able to see Vader to begin with, and since the majority of his face is still green from the mist of Tajiri, that's probably not happening any time soon.....

....Jeff does try.....he does......he even manages to land a few blind swings that gets the girls squealing.....it barely phases Vader however....and mercifully for Jeff Hardy, the monster finally puts him down with the huge Powerbomb......

Winner: Big Van Vader
Rating: B-

Quote:

.....although knowing the track record of the Forgotten, it's probably not going to end there.....Jeff Hardy might want to decide who he is going to focus his attention on....is he settling scores with Mortis, Vandenberg and Tajiri.....or gaining revenge on Sullivan, Bigelow and Vader.....because right now he's spreading himself too thin, and after already suffering at the hands of James Vandenberg's Pariah's of the Purged, now it looks as though the Forgotten would like to finish the job that they started a few weeks back, because it looks as though Kevin Sullivan and Bam Bam Bigelow are about to join Vader in the ring.......

......at least until the Rock comes flying down the aisle, steel chair in hand.....and he absolutely nails Bigelow in the back with the weapon as he's climbing onto the apron.......

......Sullivan turns......and turns right into a chair shot between the eyes.....and he goes down......

......that just leaves Vader......

......Rock slides into the ring and swings the steel once more, crashing the chair across the back of the big man.....and despite the huge red welt that instantly appears, Vader barely budges......Rock tries again, much to the same effect, before deciding this time to swing for the head.....except Vader punches the chair right out of the Rock's hands...and then proceeds to hammer the new arrival all the way back to the turnbuckles with swinging blows......

.....Vader unloads in the corner with blow after blow, before whipping Rock across the ring to the opposite corner, before coming charging in with a running splash.....

.....which The Rock avoids......and as Vader staggers back into the middle of the ring dazed, Rock picks him up and drives him down with a spinebuster right onto that steel chair.....

.....Rock walks around the big man and kicks his arm out of the way.....and Schiavone knows what's coming, telling us that it looks like the Rock is going for that People's Elbow on Big Van Vader......and as Rock runs the ropes it looks as though Tony may be right.....but before he can land the most electrifying move in ALL of sports entertainment, Bigelow and Sullivan both reach under the bottom rope and drag Vader to safety.....

.....the trio back slowly up the aisle as the Rock picks the steel chair up off the mat.....well.....Sullivan and Bigelow back slowly up the ramp anyway, while dragging an irate Vader along for the ride.....

.....seeing that the imminent danger has departed the Rock tosses down the chair, helps Hardy back to his feet, and grabs a microphone......he tells Vader that his fat monkey ass can only avoid the People's Elbow for so long, but if the Rock isn't going to be able to give the people what they want THIS week, then maybe he'll have to give the people what they want NEXT week........The Rock says that he wrestled on Pay Per View, he WON on Pay Per View, but now it's time to make THE most electrifying debut in Nitro history......when Jeff Hardy teams up with the Rock (in his first televised match of his WCW career) to face Pebbles and Bam Bam, Sullivan and Bam Bam, Pebbles and Sullivan, it doesn't really matter which two of those Forgotten Jabroni's it is......because what the Rock guaran-damn-tees, is that he's gonna walk the people's aisle, climb into the people's ring.....and wipe a monkeys ass with the face of WHOEVER is across the ring from him.........

"..........IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLLALALAOW........what The Rock....is.....cooking.........."

Next up we have some pre-recorded comments from not only the four competitors in tonight's main event, but a series of other members of the roster too....Giant, Luger, Page and Benoit each briefly discuss tonight's main event, with each man claiming that they are going to be the one to walk into Mayhem to face Hollywood Hogan......Page and Benoit both discuss being screwed out of victory last night, and the fact that the Titans of Wrestling clearly know that they can't defeat them fairly.....Luger says that he could have claimed victory last night, but didn't want to defeat his friend with the help of his OTHER friend, but tonight he's going to win all by himself.....while the Giant.....well, the Giant is p!ssed.....he says that he had Luger beat last night....he was going to Chokeslam Lex through the mat, and then he was going to move on to Hollywood Hogan and the WCW Title.....well that didn't happen......so tonight, The Giant is going to Chokeslam THREE guys through the mat......and if Sting sticks his stupid white painted face in the Giant's business again, Giant will pop his head like a grape......

.....with the main event sufficiently hyped, a number of other (slightly lesser) roster members, both face and heel alike offering virtually the same plea.....Rikishi, Rick Martel, Brad Armstrong, Disco Inferno, Alex Wright, etc, etc, etc......telling Shawn Michaels to fight the good fight for World Championship Wrestling.....NOT for the Titans of Wrestling......Luger says the same thing.....as does Page.....as does Benoit..........Giant doesn't.......in fact Giant says that he doesn't give a damn what Shawn Michaels, Jean Paul Levesque, Lex Luger, or anyone else does.......all he cares about, is at SOME point (if he can find his way out of the rafters) getting his hands on Sting, getting his hands on Hollywood Hogan......and getting the WCW Championship around his waist where it belongs.......it seems that while four pairs of eyes are on the main event, ALL eyes are on what will happen AFTER the main event......and whether Shawn Michaels will respond to the Titans of Wrestling.......and more importantly, what that response will be.

WCW Championship #1 Contenders: Fatal Four Way Match

So here is that main event......it's the Giant vs. Lex Luger vs. Diamond Dallas Page vs. Chris Benoit, and the winner will be challenging Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Championship at this months brand new event, Mayhem......

.....not one of these men won last night....hardly prime candidates for number one contederships then right?....well yes....and no.....because while none of these men were victorious, each one had a valid reason for their loss, and truthfully, any one of them COULD have won last night......well one WILL win tonight.....the question is who?.....

.....well we find out who it WON'T be winning about 3/4's of the way through the match....when Lex Luger and The Giant's friendship finally goes completely off the rails....because after Giant constantly rags on Lex for having Sting do his dirty work for him last night, Luger snaps and the two men go at it full bawl, to the point that they eventually take themselves out of the equation by fighting all the way to the back.....

......that just leaves Page and Benoit, and it's time to find out who wants it more, the guy that never had a shot (in DDP) or the guy that had a shot and got screwed out of his opportunity (that'll be Benoit).......

......turns out the answer to that (tonight at least) is Diamond Dallas Page....because as Benoit tackles the arm in an attempt to take Page down to the mat for the Crossface, Dallas is able to carry the momentum around and drop Benoit with a Diamond Cutter right in the middle of the ring for the one, the two, and the three......AND the number one contendership for the WCW Championship.....

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Rating: B+

Quote:

.....Dallas helps Benoit back to his feet, and despite the obvious disappointment on his face The Crippler is at least man enough to congratulate the victor, before offering his hand, raising Page's arm, and telling him to get it done for WCW.......

......of course, that's if DDP even makes it to Mayhem.....because just to cut that celebration short, here come the Titans of Wrestling walking down the aisle, and Hollywood has a microphone in his hand.....

.....as the group make their way towards the ring Hogan scoffs at Page's victory....he says that if this is really the best that WCW has to offer, it's no surprise that Shawn Michaels is about five minutes away from joining the most dominant group in all of wrestling, the Titans of Wrestling....but while they are waiting for Mr. Michaels to make his (no doubt) grand entrance, there's nothing stopping the Titans from having a little fun at these two jobbers expense.....and as Hogan and his crew surround the ring, it looks like that's exactly what is about to happen......

......or not.....

.....because halt the locker room (again, face and heels alike) come rushing out from the back and they charge into the ring, surrounding Benoit and Page in a rare showing of solidarity.....

......the Titans aren't happy about this, not at all......but it seems as though there are a lot of people waiting to hear what Shawn Michaels decision is going to be........

......and we might not have to wait long to hear it.....because here comes exiled Titan Jean Paul Levesque, and he looks a lot happier than he has in recent weeks.....

......he too enters the ring, and he first of all offers his congratulations to Diamond Dallas Page (who rather suspiciously and somewhat reluctantly accepts) before turning to assess the scene before him, saying there sure is a whole lot of people out here interested in what little old Shawn Michaels has to say......so.......without further ado.......

".....I give you the man.....the myth......the icon......and the TRUE reason you're all here right now........my best friend........Shawn Michaels......."

.....so here he is.....the man we've all been waiting for.......and if you want to know how badly both WCW and the Titans of Wrestling want Shawn Michaels signature, then look no further than the fact that not only does a man employed by nobody get to walk down that aisle, but he gets pyro......he gets a name graphic.....and more importantly, EVERYONE, WCW and Titan alike stands back and watches as the former World Wrestling Federation Champion picks up a microphone and climbs into the ring.......

.....which is when a camera catches sight of a lone man high above the ring in the rafters of the building......

.....even Sting has come out of hibernation to see what Shawn Michaels has to say......

....so what DOES Shawn Michaels have to say?......

......he begins by saying that he's been sat at home for the last two months....sat at home and watched this man right here, Jean Paul Levesque...."wait, seriously.....that's the best name they could give you?".......Shawn shakes his head, saying that's GOT to go......

".....I've been sat at home for the last few months, and in those two months I've watched this man right here.....JPL get treated like a joke.....an afterthought by the establishment......and just another name to hold down by the 'good old boys'......"

....Shawn says that he sat, he watched.....and quite frankly he's seen enough.....he says that in this business there's ONE man who's never turned his back on him.....ONE man who never tried to make a living of the Shawn Michaels name.....and ONE man that he would go to war with the devil himself for.....

.....he says that he wants to make one thing perfectly clear.....as far as Shawn Michaels is concerned, he doesn't take kindly to ultimatums, and he CERTAINLY doesn't like being told where to be, and when to be there......

".....I'm out here tonight for one reason, and one reason only......and that's to let everyone know that I'm not here to sign with WCW.......I'm not here to sign with the Titans of Wrestling.....I'm not here for you-

.....Michaels points to each man inside the ring, and each Titan on the outside, one at a time....

-or you, you, you, or you.......I'm not here for that Giant in the back, I'm not here for you Vinnie Ru....I'm not here for the face painted eye in the sky.....I'm not even here for you people in the crowd or the people watching at home......."

.....Shawn says that he's here for JPL, and he's going to make sure that EVERYONE knows who the REAL Titans of Wrestling are around here.....

.....with that Michaels tosses down the microphone and he and Levesque climb out of the ring and disappear to the back, leaving everyone in the arena with just as many questions as they had before the pair's arrival, as the wrestlers in the ring (and at ringside) stand there and watch them leave, with Tony Schiavone closing the show with a simple statement.....and that statement is that while Shawn Michaels may not have aligned himself with World Championship Wrestling, he hasn't aligned himself with the Titans of Wrestling either...........yet......

.....see you next week fans......

HUGE MATCHES ANNOUNCED FOR WCW MONDAY NITRO!

Fresh off this weeks monumental WCW Monday Nitro, Vince Russo has wasted no time in setting the groundwork for the upcoming edition, set to air LIVE this Monday night on TNT. Following the apparent rebuttal by the hottest free agent in wrestling today, when Shawn Michaels declined the offers of both World Championship Wrestling AND the Titans of Wrestling to join their ranks, Mr. Russo was anything but impressed, and since Shawn Michaels is not under the employ of WCW, and as such untouchable by the Titan Head Honcho, he's decided to take his frustrations out on those people who's careers he CAN effect.

In an evening being dubbed the "Titan's Revenge", Vince Russo's first order of business is to make a match for Shawn Michaels best friend, Jean Paul Levesque (or JPL if you ask Michaels) who will be facing off against one of the Forgotten's monsters. Which monster exactly? Time will tell, because Kevin Sullivan, Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Van Vader will ALL be in action Monday night. One un-named member will be facing off against Mr. Levesque, will the other two gentlemen will be joining forces to face off against The Rock and Jeff Hardy (the recap and reasoning of how this tag team match came about, complete with still images can be found here)

Not content with just focusing his attention on Shawn Michaels friend and ally however, the Titans also have another group of wrestlers in their crosshairs, the group of wrestlers that showed up to close Monday Nitro, putting a stop on a Titan beatdown before it even began, and it's lead to quite the eclectic collection of matches being booked for this weeks show, headlined by a blockbuster main event, which pits the two biggest stars ever in this sport, Hollywood Hulk Hogan and The Macho Man Randy Savage teaming up, to face arguably the two biggest names in tag team wrestling's history, Hawk and Animal, The Road Warriors.

Not to be outdone, The Warrior will be making a rare in ring appearance when he goes up against the big Samoan, Rikishi Fatu, while the "Totally Awesome Trinity" of Adam Copeland, Christian Cage and Ray Traylor join forces to face the unusual combination of Fit Finlay, Juventud Guerrera & the Disco Inferno.

Last for the Titans is perhaps the most ambitious match on the card, when Buff Bagwell attempts to do what no man has done before him, defeat the undefeated, conquer the unconquered, and beat "the streak", when he goes one on one with the rookie sensation Bill Goldberg.

All that and more when WCW Nitro comes to you LIVE, this Monday Night 8:00 pm/et on TNT.

Interesting to see where you go now with The Giant as well. He's not going to take getting punked by the Stinger that well...

And Tajiri's a highlight as well! Let's just get Mikey in here and we could have a real Unholy Alliance.
Don't worry about HBK corrupting JPL, I'd be more concerned about the opposite being true, Hunter has been a far more disruptive figure backstage (both in WCW and the WWF) than Shawn has ever been, that's the main reason Trips was granted his release from the "F" around a (in game) year ago.....Shawn has been no saint don't get me wrong, but of the two Hunter has certainly been the worse of the pair.

I wouldn't worry too much about any unlikely alliances just yet, Sting is just as likely to crack a bat over HBK's head as he is to help him out.....just ask the Giant if you don't believe me.....incidentally, the New Midnight Express.....I kinda liked them.....in fact this year (as with many past years) I'll probably make them in WWE 2K19, but then I often make my own obscure (or should that be unpopular) guilty pleasures.....so far this year I've already created the Renegade, Firebreaker Chip, Todd Champion and the Beverly Brothers

And yes, Tajiri and Crazy certainly seem to go hand in hand, seemed the logical choice for the freshly turned member of Vandenberg's cleaning crew.

Oh and finally, Diary of the Month, thanks to those that voted, it's always appreciated.
