Sonny Siaki vs. Tommy Dreamer (Some might think Dreamer is losing too much, but that was basically his character in the original ECW. He can make The New Breed look dangerous from the off.)

Low-Ki vs. The Sandman (Sandman has turned up unfit to work in the past, and Low-Ki has plenty of potential. Ki wins to put the Originals' backs against the wall early.)

Sabu vs. Xavier (I foresee Xavier as the pin-eater of the New Breed, given his lack of character compared to his fellow revolutionaries.)

Homicide vs. Rob Van Dam (RVD is by far the most popular man on the roster, and the number-one candidate to be ECW Champion.)

Nice episode. It all feels realistic but is already starting to feel fresh. Out of interest how are you doing this in the game? (apologies if you've already explained this somewhere). Are you running all of WWE but just using ECW for this? Will ECW be part of the draft?

Will be interesting if you can self impose some restrictions on yourself, perhaps Punk or RVD get 'too' popular and are stolen by one of the A shows, things like that.

Yeah, WWE 2006 it was. The planning/ideas stage was great, but we never managed to get it going. I've downloaded the pdf's of the first three ELITE episode's you've put out, looking forward to reading them! Looking good from what I've read so far

I've set up ECW as a seperate company, and signed the people who I wanted to one year written deals. Of course, I won't be able to do that with new signings or resignings, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. The company won't be part of the brand split, as I want to distance it from being WWE's ECW. It feels almost impossible to run an ECW that's true to the original, while openly being under the umbrella. Of course, it is a WWE funded promotion, but I want it to function as a stand alone company.

In terms of imposing restrictions, it depends what the game throws up. I will be keeping everybody (unless we release them) for the duration of the 1 year contracts, and then hopefully the WWE will want to steal some of the more over competitors (a mass exodus at the end of our first year would be great). I hope this happens naturally in the game, but if not, I plan to add a user character as the WWE and take some talent, if they aren't proactive about it. CM Punk is somebody who I don't see lasting beyond a year or two in ECW, and hopefully we can make a few more stars worth stealing. Outwardly we want to keep the assocation with the WWE to a minimum, but "behind the scenes", there is still the fact that the company has - at least in part - been created to feed the WWE their next generation of talent.

Like I said, hopefully the game does that for me. If not, I will definitely be imposing some things to make it a little bit more in line with the intention of the company being set up. Adding users isn't ideal, and neither is going into the editor, but it's something I've decided to do with this save for a couple of reasons. One to add those challenges, but also so I have access to talent from the actual WWE development companies (OVW/DSW) if and when I want to bring somebody in from there.

Yeah I know what you mean, using the editor and things like that normally doesn't feel right. Although I think there's a very big difference between just using it randomly when it's not needing and using it to actually preserve the realism.

It's a shame really because I imagine with the 2020 changes and being able to play as a developmental a lot of the issues you'll have won't exist anymore.

Then again it's not like any of this stuff actually affects the diary/story side of things. That's what I've had to tell myself starting a new diary this late on in 2016 life, I'm sure there is plenty of new stuff that would help in my game behind the scenes but it doesn't necessarily change the story I hope to tell (especially if, like you, I just admit I'll have to use the editor and things like that on occasion.)

Also enjoying the format. Tbh I'd be put off by long shows on youtube. Although I enjoy some professional podcasts, most the time I couldn't enjoy listening to one guy for an hour even if the actual content was good. So these smaller bite sized episodes are perfect.

Default The Story So Far - Month #1

ECW 2006: The Story So Far
Month #1: The Tribe of Extreme Rises Again!

Since ECW’s full-time return was confirmed in late 2005, speculation persisted regarding who would make up the new roster. Of course, a number of ECW Originals were to be expected, but over the course of the first four episodes of CyberSlam, a “New Breed” was unleashed by Paul Heyman!
Perhaps the most impactful of the newcomers weren’t picked out by the “mad scientist” however, as Homicide, Low-Ki and Xavier made their presence known on CyberSlam’s debut episode. Feeling they’d been overlooked by Paul Heyman, they confronted him as he opened up the debut episode, before laying out Rob Van Dam, Sabu, The Sandman and Tommy Dreamer at the end of the night.
It wasn’t long before the trio were signed to ECW contracts, following a demand from the most unlikely source. Desperate for revenge, and determined to prove what ECW is all about, Tommy Dreamer called on Paul Heyman to allow the newcomers to enter the land of Extreme. His plan was to show them what they were getting themselves in for… but it was Tommy Dreamer who got caught out. While facing the de-facto leader of the group Homicide, Dreamer was jumped by a 6ft 3in “athlete” in the form of Sonny Siaki!
The fourth man to join the apparent “revolution that ECW needed”, Sonny’s presence ensured victory for Homicide…

From what had supposed to be a dream comeback, the new ECW had quickly become a nightmare for the Originals. They did claw back some pride in the third week, but their real chance to prove themselves came on Episode #4 of ECW CyberSlam.
Presenting a Special Episode of the show, Paul Heyman scheduled 4 huge matches to take place inside the ECW Arena. Each contest would pit one of the New Breed “revolutionaries” against members of that core group of Originals. While the night started badly for the Originals, when Tommy Dreamer was Powerbombed through a table by his scheduled opponent, the cancellation of that match didn’t affect the rest of the show.

After Sabu had been taken to his limit by Xavier, but came out on top, and shockingly Low-Ki made quick work of The Sandman, everything was to play for in the Main Event. Somehow able to find the wherewithal to stop Sonny Siaki from helping Homicide to yet another victory, Tommy Dreamer became the hero of the night, as he helped Rob Van Dam to victory. Not only did that give the Originals a 2-1 victory on the night, it meant that Low-Ki was the only member of the group still in contention for the ECW World Championship!
The reason for this had been established back on Episode #1, when Paul Heyman announced that every single member of the ECW roster was in with the chance to become the first ECW World Champion since the company returned. This would be implemented via a “World Championship Winner’s Club”, a simple concept which dictated that should someone fail to win a match they’re involved in, they would be out of contention for the ECW World Championship. By the time the fourth episode of CyberSlam aired, only the following competitors remained in the running:

Brent Albright - CM Punk - Elijah Burke - Low-Ki - Rob Van Dam - Roadkill - Sabu - Steve Corino

While the outcome of Episode #4 appeared to offer the redemption that the ECW Originals needed, the night ended not with celebration, but with grave concern. As Rob Van Dam celebrated his victory in the ring with the man who’d helped him get there, Tommy Dreamer collapsed to the canvas. A sign of the physical effects that the assault from Sonny Siaki had on him, it was clear that for the ECW Originals… the troubles were only just beginning!

Yeah, as long as I'm not doing it to specifically benefit myself, I'm happy to use it. I've been thinking the same regarding 2020, but if I'm still playing this save when the new games come out, I could always try and convert the database and continue the story on 2020.

Thanks, there's a few channels I watch, and I find the shorter the more likely I am to stay interested. That's always been an aim with this and the AEW game I did before, trying to keep it short while giving enough detail to be hopefully interesting. Struggled with that, but it's something I hope I improve on. Would ideally have them around 6-7 minutes, but I'm at 8-10 at the moment. It's really all a work-in-progress at the minute, but hopefully at some point I'll get a consistency I'm happy with.

Default ECW.com Preview - Episode #5 of ECW

Last week's ECW CyberSlam saw perhaps the most significant matches to take place since the company was revived, as members of the emerging New Breed of "revolutionaries" faced off against the old-guard of ECW Originals, in a one-night head to head clash!

While the night started badly for the Originals, as Tommy Dreamer was taken out by Sonny Siaki, Sabu got them off to a winning start against Xavier. Low-Ki was able to even things up against The Sandman up next, leaving it all to play for in the Main Event. During that match, Sonny Siaki looked to once again prove the deciding factor, only to be thwarted by Tommy Dreamer. This ensured Rob Van Dam was able to defeat Homicide, but the night wasn't over there. As Tommy Dreamer celebrated Rob Van Dam's victory - and the ECW Original's victory on the night - he collapsed in the ring, CyberSlam ending with deep concern for "The Innovator of Violence".

Since Saturday's episode aired, ECW.com has learned that Tommy Dreamer was taken to a local hospital for further examination, and has been told he must not appear at the ECW Arena this week. Instead, Tommy Dreamer will give an update from his home in New York City, despite his desire to get his hands on Sonny Siaki!

Unlike Dreamer, three men who appeared on last week's episode will be in action, starting with the New Breed's Low-Ki. He will face fellow "World Championship Winner's Club" member Roadkill, who will be making his second in-ring appearance since CyberSlam debuted. Two competitors will also make their ECW debuts this week, with the highly regarded team of Johnny Kashmere and Trent Acid thrown straight into the deep end, as they face Rob Van Dam and Sabu. Both coming off the back hard-fought victories last week, the two iconic figures will have to put their rivalry with the New Breed to one side, to face the two newcomers, in a hugely anticipated Main Event!

The other match on the night will see "The Shooter" Brent Albright go one on one with The F.B.I's Tony Mamaluke, the former looking to maintain his place as one of the contenders to become the first ECW World Champion since the company's return.
Match Card

Johnny Kashmere & Trent Acid vs. Rob Van Dam* & Sabu*

Brent Albright* vs. Tony Mamaluke

Low-Ki* vs. Roadkill*

[Asterisks denotes the competitor is still undefeated in ECW, and therefore in contention to be the first ECW World Champion]

Default ECW.com Preview - Episode #5 of ECW CyberSlam

Previous Episode: The War Isn't Over...

This week on CyberSlam, seven becomes six, as the ECW World Championship “Winner’s Club” takes one step closer to the crowning of the first title holder since the company returned. It will be New Breed vs. New Breed in the Main Event for the very first time, as CM Punk goes one on one with the self-proclaimed “Future of ECW” Elijah Burke. While CM Punk has shown just how good he is over the last few weeks, Burke’s entourage are sure to play a part in the match. CM Punk will also need to keep an eye on the New Breed’s “revolutionaries”, after he clashed with Low-Ki on last week’s show...

As far as that group go, Tommy Dreamer returns to ECW CyberSlam this week - against doctor’s orders - to call out Sonny Siaki. Those around “The Innovator of Violence”, including his wife Beulah, have pleaded with Tommy to wait until he is fully recovered, but the ECW Original is determined to get his hands on Siaki.

The show will see another rivalry continue, as Danny Doring faces The F.B.I’s Little Guido, with Al Snow also in action - one week after he threw his trademark “Head” into a burning trash can. That’s not all that is heating up in Extreme Championship Wrestling however, and ECW.com is the only place to see this week’s all new episode of CyberSlam!

Match Card

CM Punk* vs. Elijah Burke*

Al Snow vs. CW Anderson

Danny Doring vs. Little Guido

[Asterisk denotes the competitor is still undefeated in ECW, and therefore in contention to be the first ECW World Champion]
