TEW 2020 feels like it's still far off, but if I count the Sundays, I don't have too many left. Maybe Eight if no delays? So I need to start thinking about how I'm ending this thing. And maybe ending my time writing CGC entirely. This has all felt like a swan song for me, and every time I start one of these I find myself yearning for a product with more workrate, more variance, and that lends itself to more complex storytelling. Proof-reading this episode, I was bummed out how little sense it makes if this was the first episode someone read.
Honestly, would really like to see your take on TCW then. More workrate, still needs storylines, more complexity if you want that and still has the underdog feel that CGC has. Maybe for 2020, I'd certainly read another Self project.

(8) Blockbuster vs Ian Identity (6)
Ian gets my vote purely because we saw him put Blockbuster in the Incapacitator this week, I'm sure it will affect Buster's performance next week

(6) Sayeed Ali vs Dice Elderberry (5)
Ali needs this a little more, Dice can take a loss here as well to make the bottome that bit interesting

(4) Running Wolf vs Torque (2)
Think Wolf gets distracted again this week, while becomes Torque Wolf, imitating his opponent again this week, but it gets him the W this time.

(3) Skip Beau vs Bobby Thomas (8)
Think Bobby will find a way to beat Skip, not sure how though.

USS Table after this:
Bobby 10
Ian 9
Ali 8
Buster 8
Dice 5
Wolf 4
Torque 4
Skip 3

With one more fight after this to go, this allows anybody from Buster up to win and anybody from Dice down to be banished.

(8) Blockbuster vs Ian Identity (6)
I do like DAVEFAN95´s logic and the situation it would lead in terms of tournament standings but I go with Blockbuster here as he was your former champion and thus I feel he should have decently strong showing while I still rate Ian as midcarder though he seems to be higher on the pecking order now than what he was before his trip in the box.

(6) Sayeed Ali vs Dice Elderberry (5)
Ali picks up a win in order to keep himself in the hunt for the top spot.

(4) Running Wolf vs Torque (2)
This one I could see going either way and I actually did check who their next opponents would be in order to try figure out the winner but that wasn´t much help either (if my math is right, Torque will face Ian while Wolf will clash with Dice and I could see both those matches going either way). In the end, I think I follow my idea of Skip needing the win against Blockbuster and while that could easily happen even if Torque loses here (all that is needed is Torque to have his last match before Skip) I do feel that setting the wheels in motion here would give interesting angle for the finals earlier and thus go against Wolf here, despite my heart telling me otherwise.

(3) Skip Beau vs Bobby Thomas (8)
Bobby picks up the win here in order chase the top spot while loss will still keep Skip in the danger zone.

Delivery Drones vs Lords of Vegas & Woolabonga Bogans
Drones won´t be winning any matches but that´s not really why they are here either.

This pick is wrong. I know it's wrong. But damn it all, I want Ian to win!

(6) Sayeed Ali vs Dice Elderberry (5)
Sayeed is just the worst, but it seems to be working out for him so far. Free Faith!

(4) Running Wolf vs Torque (2)

Sunday Week 2 July 2019
Late Evening on Maple Leaf Sports
Waterloo University Arena, Ontario
4,515 in attendance

Davis Ditterich "The Ultimate Showdown Series concludes this Friday, live on PPV, but before that we have four more huge matches, right here tonight."
Jack DeColt "Last week as we went off the air Ian Identity managed to put Blockbuster in his new Incapacitator submission. Between the chaos and security running in I'm not 100% sure, but I think I saw Blockbuster tap out. Can Ian do it again in their all-important Ultimate Showdown Series match tonight?"

#2, #3, #4, & #5
THE DELIVERY DRONES

LORDS OF WOOLABONGA

The Great Trickerion, Gnaw, Rusty Mills & Donovan Boon

Jack DeColt "The Lord of Vegas challenge for the tag team titles this Friday, and the Champions have sent out their drones to do some damage. Or else."

The Delivery Drones desperatley try to isolate Trickerion to save their jobs, but between their inexperience, over-eagerness, and being limited to Express Delivery approved stamps and postings, they fail to deliver the master magician to suplex city. The Woolabonga Bogans use quick tags and ultra-smooth double teams before Gnaw unleashes feline fury with his murder mittens. Glittering Magician! 1. 2. 3.

LORDS OF WOOLABONGA WIN (10:12)

DIABLO DeVILLE
"Mighty" Zeus believes I should be friends to the mortals. He thinks
I can learn from you. He is wrong. And in his naivety, "noble" Zeus has
made his biggest mistake yet, and offered me a chance to free myself
from that accursed CGC World Title and win it for myself. This Friday at
'Ultimate Showdown' I will make him bow at the feet of a true immortal;
a pure-blood demon prince, and then I will feast on all of your suffering.

This Friday

CGC World Title Match: Diablo DeVille vs Zeus Maxmillion
CGC Tag Team Title Match: Lords of Vegas vs Express Delivery
Ultimate Showdown Series: Blockbuster vs Skip Beau
Ultimate Showdown Series: Ian Identity vs Torque
Ultimate Showdown Series: Bobby Thomas vs Sayeed Ali
Ultimate Showdown Series: Dice Elderberry vs Running Wolf

BACKSTAGE

THE GREAT TRICKERION walks into a Janitor's Closet and closes the door behind him. DELIVERY DRONE #2 gives chase, yanking open the door to reveal... mops and brooms, but no Trickerion. The Drone is confused. The Great Trickerion appears behind him, shoves him into the closet, and locks the door. Ta Da!

IN-RING

IAN IDENTITY
You learn a lot about frustration when you're trapped in a box for weeks
on end, but nothing has made me more frustrated than the last few
weeks of the Ultimate Showdown Series. I thought I had this in the
bag, but I'm letting it slip through my fingers. That ends right now.
Blockbuster! Last week, I tapped you out. Get your ass out here
so I can do it again!

BLOCKBUSTER
You little dweeb! You just took me by surprise is all... and it only looked
like I was tapping because I was trying to punch you in your stupid face.
If security hadn't come in when they did everyone would have seen me
power out of that prissy pants hold of yours and break you against the
turnbuckles. You didn't tap me out. I tap for no man. I'm getting my
points from you tonight, just like I'm getting my points from Skip this
Friday, and I'm winning the Ultimate Showdown Series.

SKIP BEAU
About that, good buddy. I know I said I was going to lay down for you,
but I'm in last place. I might get banished. Any chance you could do
me a solid and maybe-

BLOCKBUSTER
Shut up, you numbskull! You're going to lay down for me and so
is this nitwit Ian Identity. I feel sorry for you, Ian. You started off
so well. You got your hopes up. You've been told over and over
you're gonna be something, but you're not. You're nuthin'. And no
matter what you choose right now I'm getting points out of you
tonight. But I'm gonna give you the chance to save yourself some
pain and embarassment anyway. Because I feel sorry for you.
Lay down. Live to fight another day.

Ian identity thinks... and lays down.

(8) BLOCKBUSTER VS IAN IDENTITY (6)
Jack DeColt "What? No! Come on, Ian. Don't give up. You're still in this thing."

Blockbuster smugly leans over to make the cover... and Identity suddenly yanks him down, looking for the Incapacitator (Double Underhook Armbar)! It was a ruse! Panicking, Blockbuster powers free and Ian goes for broke with intense forearms and incredible dropkicks. It's like hitting a brick wall, and while Identity is determined to smash right through it, he's overwhelmed by head-banging. Blockbuster soon settles into his usual deliberate pace and...

"60 seconds remaining"

... forgets about the time limit! Blockbuster panics and Ian ducks, dips, dives and dodges. Buster finally snatches him, but the BusterBomb is countered into a Hurancanranna! Incapacitator! Blockbuster is trapped, screaming in pain with 20 seconds to go... 10 seconds... he won't tap!

TIME LIMIT DRAW
(Blockbuster +1, Ian Identity +1)

DELIVERY DRONE #3 has THE GREAT TRICKERION cornered at the edge a swimming pool. There's nowhere to run and #3 is psyched. Until The Great Trickerion walks on water, that is! #3 tries to chase... and falls into the pool, splashing around helplessly.

IN-RING

DIRTY DICE ELDERBERRY
You know something? I don't think I'm winning the Ultimate Showdown
Series this year... but looking at the leaderboard and who I got this
Friday, I don't think I'm losing it either. So, Ali. New York City big shot.
How about instead of beating the hell out of each other tonight, we
settle this like businessmen. I'm willing to make a deal. You want
points? I want a go on her.

Dirty Dice leers at Faith, who is disgusted. Sayeed... considers it... and agrees! Faith is appalled.

(6) SAYEED ALI VS DICE ELDERBERRY (5)
Jack DeColt "Are you kidding me??? You can't sell your girlfriend for points!"

Elderberry lays down for Ali to pin him, while making lewd gestures towards Faith. Sayeed can't quite bring himself to make the cover.

SAYEED ALI
Naw. I can't... I can't do this. I love and respect my
girlfriend too much to sell her out for two measley
points.

Faith is thrilled.

SAYEED ALI
I want three! Gimme a submission.

Faith is furious. Dice shrugs and invites Ali to put on an armbar. He does (kinda) and Dice immediately taps out!

SAYEED ALI WINS VIA SUBMISSION (0:06)
(Sayeed Ali +3, Dice Elderberry +0)

Satisfied, Sayeed Ali fetches Dice his prize. Faith kicks and screams and curses his name as-

BOBBY THOMAS sprints into the ring. Dice takes a swing at him, and eats a SUPER KICK for his troubles! Sayeed throws Faith at Bobby to make his getaway.

BOBBY THOMAS
Hey Sayeed! I appreciate the offer but I don't take women as currency.
You're not going to be able to buy any points from me. Every single one
of them you're going to have to pry out of my cold, dead hands. Nine
years I've entered the Ultimate Showdown Series. Nine years I've fallen
short. Not this time. Tonight I'm kicking Skip Beau's ass. This Friday I'm
kicking yours.

DELIVERY DRONE #4 gives chase.... and runs headfirst into an ancient egyptian looking magic box. With a magical flourish, THE GREAT TRICKERION locks the hapless drone inside and rams a blade through it, chopping the box in two. #4 screams... but wait... He's... fine? How is he fine? The Great Trickerion seperates the two box halves, so #4 can get a good look at his own feet kicking helplessly. Ta Da!

ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN SERIES MATCH

(4) RUNNING WOLF VS TORQUE (2)

Running Wolf interrogates the biker as to the whereabouts of his ancestor’s tomahawk, but Torque turns the questioning back around, mimicking the Native American Detective with chops and accusations. The action gets hot but the crowd are cold. Really cold. Shivering, actually. Snow is in the air and magic is afoot! Wolf tries to ignore the plummeting temperatures, but he’s not as accustomed to the cold as bundled-up Canadian Torque. Pedal to the Metal (Curb Stomp)! 1… 2… 3!

TORQUE WINS (8:11)

DELIVERY DRONE #5 is shaking like a leaf as he approaches THE GREAT TRICKERION who... pull a rabbit out of his hat. Trick gives the rabbit to the Drone. It seems like a typical, cute rabbit.

DELIVERY DRONE #2 and #3 attack THE GREAT TRICKERION from behind, cover him with stamps, and throw him into a box. Taping the lid shut, they celebrate! Their jobs are safe! They're overjoyed! A crew member gives them a round of applause. Wait a second. That's no crew member. That's...

The Grat Trickerion??? Then who's in the box? The Drones rip it open to reveal...

DELIVERY DRONE #4??? Confused and furious. The Great Trickerion runs as the desperate Drones give chase.

SKIP BEAU
Things are looking bleak, but it's not going to come to this.
I'm going to beat Bobby Thomas tonight, take him out of the
running, secure Blockbuster's victory AND get enough
points that I'm not going to be banished!

(3) SKIP BEAU VS BOBBY THOMAS (8)
Jack DeColt "Skip Beau has everything to fight for. He does not want to have to lay down for his best friend on Friday if it means his exile."

Skip comes out swinging like a man possessed, overpowering the veteran until Bobby shuts him down with the Specialist Touch (Single Arm DDT)! 1… 2… Skip kicks out and Bobby latches onto the injured arm, stretching and twisting and looking for the submission, but Skip won’t tap. Americana! Skip won’t tap. Cross Armbreaker! Skip won’t tap. Beau powers free with a series of innovation backbreakers! He’s feeling The Flow and charges… right into a- SUPER KICK! Super Kick to the back of the head! 1…. 2… 3!

BOBBY THOMAS WINS (8:58)
(Skip Beau +0, Bobby Thomas +2)

Skip Beau is devastated.

BLOCKBUSTER appears at the top of the ramp, glaring.

My first instinct is "too big", but they have been sliding in recent years, so maybe with a 90 minute TV show. It's probably is the kind of performance skewed product I'm looking for, without being 100% movez (which I like watching, but can't fathom how to write). I should give them a whirl in a private game. I'm not sure I've given them a go in TEW'16.

EDIT: I just read their TEW'16 bio, and saw that they're now owned by a toy company. I... I could work with that. That's really interesting to me.

I'd certainly like to see you give them a go, I think you'd do TCW justice. I remember you writing a NOTBPW exhibition match in your CGC 2013 diary and I remember it being an absolute joy to read. You concentrated on the moves in the ring and counters and holds and it was great, I even remember a brief, but highly entertaining commentary segment between Tommy London and Davis Ditterich showing the contrasting styles between the two promotions. Maybe it was the fact that it was slightly different than the CGC segments you were writing but with that in mind, I could easily see you write a 100% movez match if you needed to (Such as TCW's All Action division if, for example, the toy company who owns TCW wanted that to attract the kids).

Yeah, I think there are loads of places you could go with the Toy Company ownership thing, could allow you to add/remove things that you thought a toy company wouldn't want related to them.

I'd like to hear about your TCW 2016 exploits too if you were to give them a go in a private game.

CGC World Title Match: Diablo DeVilee vs Zeus Maxmillion

He has to, as much as the title match is intriguing, Zeus shouldn't be losing it in his first "proper" defense.

CGC Tag Team Title Match: Lords of Vegas vs Express Delivery

DQ win, no titles. However, I loved the Trickerion/Drone segments last show.

Ultimate Showdown Series: (9) Sayeed Ali vs Bobby Thomas (10)

I could see this being a DQ loss for Bobby (allowing Ian back into the running) but I say the swerve is that there isn't a swerve and give Ali the outright win here giving him the wishes.

Ultimate Showdown Series: (6) Dice Elderberry vs Running Wolf (4)

Dice has nothing to fight for, he's basically safe from elimination bar some downright madness, so he'll try an sell his points again, can't see why he wouldn't use that to his advantage, maybe he has the tomahawk, telling Wolf to take the free win and the tomahawk but be in his debt, might make an interesting story going forward

Ultimate Showdown Series: (7) Ian Identity vs Torque (4)

Submission victory so Ian comes ties second, maybe he wins it through Ali v Thomas Shenanigans (which would make sense given their interaction on the last show, maybe they want to feud) but I don't think that'll happen

Ultimate Showdown Series: (9) Blockbuster vs Skip Beau (3)

The whole series has been gearing up to this moment and after Buster got his run with the belt I just can't see Skip lying down for him, (well I can, in a weird situation where Skip lies down for Buster but either Bobby then wins meaning Buster loses, or Ali wins via submission also meaning Buster loses then he blames Skip but I don't think you go that direction.) so I give Skip the win costing Buster the wishes and the feud that comes from it, maybe Buster and somebody else v Skip and Jack

I hope like hell it's finally the straw that breaks the camel's back because the skeeze factor is just way too dang high.

CGC World Title Match: Diablo DeVilee vs Zeus Maxmillion
Too early for Zeus to drop his belt plus I don´t see Diablo being build up enough to become the main champ yet.

CGC Tag Team Title Match: Lords of Vegas vs Express Delivery
Delivery will retain with help of the drones

Ultimate Showdown Series: (9) Sayeed Ali vs Bobby Thomas (10)
I will be cheering for Bobby here and hoping he wins but sadly, with Zeus as champion Ali winning here makes much more sense to me.

Ultimate Showdown Series: (5) Dice Elderberry vs Running Wolf (4)
Wolf could use a win to end the tournament on right foot. I think he´s storyline still has some gas left so doubtful he will be the one getting exiled, Dice on the other hand... he could still be the guy going out and with Delivery now having Drones do their dirty work, where that would leave Dice? Plus, that angle between Ali, Faith and Dice is bit awkward for family friendly promotion, and while Bobby saved Faith last show, Dice held his side of the bargain and likely wants his prize still and I´m doubtful Ali would bother to fight him so exiling Dice would put that story to rest.

Ultimate Showdown Series: (7) Ian Identity vs Torque (4)
For me, main question here is will Torque be the one getting exiled? My answer is no, mainly because I think Torque and Greaser are too good of a team to throw out (I´d assume Greaser comes back pretty soon after the tournament ends) but also because of what I discussed above about Dice (Yes, I changed my mind once again, you seem to be really good at making me regularly second guess my ability to read your booking plans and I really enjoy it. )

Ultimate Showdown Series: (9) Blockbuster vs Skip Beau (3)
Blockbuster winning would put him and Ali on even points at the top and I think you want clear winner for this tournament, hence I go with Skip winning (via submission in order to put him on 6 points). Blockbuster ain´t going to be happy if I´m right here so interesting to see were this will lead between the two.

CGC World Title Match: Diablo DeVile vs Zeus Maxmillion
For the power of humanity, for the goodwill he has borne for us, for Puny Mortal Stevie, for all the people of DeColt Country!

CGC Tag Team Title Match: Lords of Vegas vs Express Delivery
ED (hey, don't they have pills for that?) sneak out the dirty win.

Ultimate Showdown Series: (9) Sayeed Ali vs Bobby Thomas (10)
I am begging for the Eternal Everyman to finally get his big moment. I'll be in the front row cheering for you, Bobby!

Ultimate Showdown Series: (5) Dice Elderberry vs Running Wolf (4)
Dice is a flunky who can easily bully some undercard mooks to get his momentum back, Running Wolf is in the middle of a storyline.

Ultimate Showdown Series: (7) Ian Identity vs Torque (4)
Ian Identity, incapacitate this irritating imitator!

Ultimate Showdown Series: (9) Blockbuster vs Skip Beau (3)
Bye, Skip. I look forward to seeing your wacky hijinks as you try to get back onto the show!

Also, Sayeed Ali is just the WORST.

Davis Ditterich "Tonight! It's the final four matches of the 2019 Ultimate Showdown Series! Who will top the leaderboard and go home with Three Wishes? Who will come last and taste the bitter defeat of Exile? We'll find out!"

(4) JOHN TORQUE VS IAN IDENTITY (7)
Jack DeColt "Victory in the Series is out of Ian's grasp at this point, while Exile looms for Torque. A Pin would be ideal, but even a Draw might keep him safe."

Torque mimics his opponent's intense forearms and incredible dropkicks, looking for a quick win, but when Identity refuses to go down without a fight, Torque switches to Plan B; run out the clock. Identity refuses to let his Series end with another whimper, and chases Torque all around the ring and back inside... Where he's caught with Pedal To The Metal (Curb Stomp) as he slides back inside! 1... 2... 3!

TORQUE WINS (6:49)
(Torque +2, Ian Identity +0)

HUGH ANCRIE and PHILIPPE LaGRENIER are furious, glaring at the DELIVERY DRONES. There's a conspicuous space where #3 should be standing. And who's the new guy on the end???

HUGH ANCRIE
What part of "or else" do you idiots not understand? You were given
specific instructions to take out The Great Trickerion last week, and
send him back where he came from, but he's still here. You failed.

PHILIPPE LaGRENIER
If you're wondering where your little buddy whatshisname... Number 3...
is; he's paying for your mistakes. No more paycheque. No more CGC.
He's done.

DELIVERY DRONE #5
... but he has a family.

HUGH ANCRIE
Don't speak to us. You're not being paid to talk, drone. Do you think
we're friends? Nobody's friends here. Hell, me and LaGrenier have
never even spoken outside of business hours.

PHILIPPE LaGRENIER
Zat would be unprofessional. You drones better hope we win tonight.

CGC WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

The Great Trickerion & Gnaw
LORDS OF VEGAS

EXPRESS DELIVERY

Hugh Ancrie & Philippe LaGrenier

Jack DeColt "The Great Trickerion has been one step ahead of the tag team champions, but wherever Express Delivery go, their new recruits are sure to... Speak of the devils."

The Delivery Drones immediately surround the ring.

THE GREAT TRICKERION
Abra! Kadabra! Alakazam!

Four GNAWS emerge from under the ring to confront the rookies. The ferocious felines scratch and claw and chase the Drones from ringside. Inside the ring, the real Gnaw pounces on the champions and locks The Feast (STF with Biting) on LaGrenier, until Ancrie delivers a perfectly placed stamp to the knee. Express Delivery stamp, post, and deliver the injured limb to a world of hurt.

Gnaw valiantly battles to his partner and The Great Trickerion cuts the ring in half, pulling a world of wonders out of his hat, amazing and delighting with illusions and escapes aplenty. He astonishes LaGrenier with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex, but Ancrie intercepts the Glittering Magician with a Collector’s Stamp (Mafia Kick)! Gnaw attacks like a wounded animal, but it’s a wound LaGrenier can take advantage of. First Class Package (Package Piledriver/Flying Stomp)! 1… 2… 3!

BLOCKBUSTER
I said I was going to steamroll over the competition, and if it wasn't
for that stupid 10 minute time limit I would have. I am undefeated
in the Ultimate Showdown Series and if there was any justice I'd
at the top of the leaderboard... but you know what? It doesn't
matter. My 'buddy' Skip is going to do the right thing, give me 3
points, and that puts me on top!

SKIP BEAU
Yeah... about that. You're my best friend, and I want you to win,
but... I'm at the bottom of the leaderboard, so if I lay down for you,
I'm exiled. And that's the end of the Champion Bros. I'm sorry,
Blockbuster, but I think this time you need to lay down for me.

BLOCKBUSTER
... Are you out of your mind? I'm not laying down for you. I need
these three wishes!

SKIP BEAU
But the Champion Bros?

BLOCKBUSTER
I don't care about the stupid Champion Bros! I don't care if you get
exiled. Give me my Wishes or I break you. Lay down!

SKIP BEAU
No! I've been with you through thick and thin. I've helped you every
time you've asked! Now it's your turn to help me. You lay down!

Blockbuster thinks about it, and lariats Skip out of his boots!

ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN SERIES MATCH
(9) BLOCKBUSTER VS SKIP BEAU (3)
Jack DeColt "Atta Boy, Skip! About time you showed some fire."

Blockbuster mercilessly thrashes and shreds and beats his "best friend" like a drum, yelling at him to submit. Skip refuses. He fires back... but it's like punching a brick wall and Blockbuster head-bangs his way back into control. He sets up the BusterBomb (Powerbomb into Turnbuckles) but gets a better idea. He rips the pad off of the top turnbuckle! Referee Shane Stones is furious, threatening Blockbuster with disqualification, and when his back is turned Skip smashes his former friend over the head with a sock full of pennies. Stones didn't see it! 1... 2... 3!

SKIP BEAU WINS (7:50)
(Blockbuster +0, Skip Beau +2)

Skip run for the hills while Blockbuster is still woozy.

BACKSTAGE

JENNY PLAYMATE
Skip, congratulations on your huge victory. You've dashed Blockbuster's
hopes of winning the Three Wishes, but you may still have a fight on
your hands if you want to avoid exile. If Wolf loses the next match,
you're safe, but if Dice loses it'll be you & Dice in a tiebreaker. Loser
gets exiled.

SKIP BEAU
Either way I'm ready. I'd love Wolf to lose and get the rest of the night
off, but I'm fired up, on a roll, and at least I get this time to rest up and-

BLOCKBUSTER charges through security to attack Skip!

BLOCKBUSTER
You cost me three wishes! I'm gonna kill you!

Blockbuster starts pounding on Skip as Security swarm in to try to stop him.

ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN SERIES MATCH
(5) DICE ELDERBERRY VS RUNNING WOLF (4)
Jack DeColt "Both men need to win here. Running Wolf's search for his ancestor's magic tomahawk has been a huge distraction, but if he keeps his eye on the prize, Dice may regret selling so many points during the Series."

Dice is bigger but Running Wolf is stronger, overpowering with impressive feats of strength. He's clearly distracted though, constantly keeping one eye out for changes in the weather, and pays for it when his face gets shoved into Dice's disgusting armpit.

BLOCKBUSTER comes down the ramp, dragging a beaten and bloodied SKIP BEAU with him, as security tries in vain to stop him. He tries to blatantly interfere to help Running Wolf win, but Shane Stones is in his way.

With all the commotion, no one spots DAN DALAY climbing into the ring, holding... Is that a Tomahawk? He nails Wolf over the head with the handle and leaves as Dice makes the cover and Shane Stones turns back around. 1... 2... 3.

DICE ELDERBERRY WINS (5:34)

IN-RING

JACK DECOLT is in the ring, CGC Canadian Title around his waist, microphone in hand.

JACK DECOLT
Tonight we crown the wiiner of the 2019 Ultimate Showdown Series,
but as one epic endurance contest ends, another is about to begin.
We are seven weeks away from CGC's next PPV spectacular; the
Last Man Standing Rumble. 30 men. Over the top rope rules. It's a
match you don't win without gas in the tank, friends at your back, and
an unquenchable thirst for victory. In 2018 I finished off the greatest
year of my career by winning the Last Man Standing Rumble and
nothing would make me happier than doing it again in 2019 only...
You may have noticed I haven't been wrestling much these days-

JACK BRUCE
Hellooooooooooooooooooo Vancouver! When I started my World
Tour, I promised that the Jack 'n'Rolla was gonna hit every city, town
and village in the Bruce-iverse, but some places are just so nice I
gotta visit them twice. WrestleFestival wasn't enough time for Jack
Bruce to spend in Canadian Golden Combat, so I'm back with a song
to sing and a dance to dance. There's ants in my pants, only... this is
no new song, ladies and gentlemen. This is an encore performance.
I'm here for you, Jack DeColt. Three months ago I beat you, yet there
you are with a title around your waist. The audacity, Jack. The sheer
audacity for you to sit there and call yourself a champion when you
know you're second best to the Cream of the Crop.

JACK DeCOLT
You beat me at WrestlieFestival, Bruce. I'll give you that. But you
had one advantage that I didn't; You were prepared. That match was
sprung on me with 24 hours notice, but you? You had been planning
that for a while. I could tell. You knew my every move, every counter.
I bet you spent night after sleepless night in that tour bus of yours,
studying me, figuring out a plan, obsessing. It's an honour, really. I
must have been living rent free in your head for weeks. You beat me
at WrestleFestival, but on an even playing field I'd kick your ass
any dayof the week.

JACK BRUCE
Is that so? How about you prove it, DeColt? You want to get back
on the dance floor with the Supreme Megastar of the Bruce-iverse?
That's exactly what I'm here for. And this time I want no excuses. I'm
not challenging you to a match tonight, or tomorrow night, or Sunday
night, or next week or even next month... Seven Weeks, Jack. CGC
Last Man Standing. Live on PPV. Is seven weeks enough time for you
to find your dancing shoes? Because I gotta be honest, you're not
looking like a spring chicken these days. The comfy commentary chair,
the grey hair, the moustache...

JACK DECOLT
You're no a young buck yourself. I could mention that headband you
have glued to your head to hide your receeding hairline, but I guess
I'll be the bigger man.

JACK BRUCE
That's not what your ex-wife said.

JACK DECOLT
That's how you want to play it, tough guy? You want to try and make
this personal? You're going to have to do better than an outdated
reference to my love life. For twenty years I've stood on the front
lines of this company, taking on every threat that's come my way.
I've been wounded, tortured, beaten to within an inch of my life,
and I'm still standing. I have nothing left to prove. To you or to
anyone. I could snap my fingers, retire right now, and I wouldn't
have a single regret.... but I really don't like you, Jack Bruce, so at
Last Man Standing it will be my pleasure to show you... WHO RULES!

DECOLTS RULE!

CGC WORLD TITLE MATCH

DIABLO DeVILLE VS ZEUS MAXMILLION

Jack DeColt
"Zeus sees the demon that lives in the CGC World Title as a kindred spirit, and has offered up this title shot in exchange for showing him the wonders of humanity. I hope he knows what he's doing. I trapped Diablo in the title for a reason."

Zeus tries to conduct himself as a noble champion, but Diablo sees no need for such things as handshakes or rope breaks, and defies the laws of physics with inhuman dives and rolls and springboards. Thrilled to meet such a worthy opponent in glorious combat, Zeus unloads with left hands and headbutts, but Diablo isn't looking for a fair fight. Biting, gouging, clawing at Zeus' flesh with sharpened fingernails, DeVille feed off of the champion's suffering, and the more the crowd boos, the stronger he gets. Zeus pleads the fans to cheer and clap and rejoice... which like acid to the demon prince's ears.

Pairing godlike strength with a mortal's courage, Zeus battles back. Big Backdrop! Spinebuster! He locks in the Olympian Clutch (Camel Clutch) but Diablo bites his fingers. Hellfire Kick (Backflip Kick)! 1... 2... Kick out! Phoenix Lariat! 1... 2... Zeus refuses to stay down. Diablo goes for Damnation (Top Rope Splash to Back) but in a feat of Godlike Strength Zeus catches him in mid air! Thunder Bolt (Sit Out Powerbomb)! 1... 2... 3!

ZEUS MAXMILLION RETAINS (17:09)

Zeus Maxmillion offers to shake the challenger's hand after a fine battle. Diablo refuses, but is reminded of the bargain that was struck. Diablo reluctantly and half-hearted shakes the Champion's hand.

IN-RING

SAYEED ALI
Faith. Baby. I know we've had some troubles lately, but I promise
you all that is going to change. We are just moments away from
me winning the Ultimate Showdown Series and all of our dreams
coming true.

FAITH
Troubles? You sold me for points last week. You were going to let Dirty
Dice Elderberry just take me.

SAYEED ALI
No, I wasn't. I was just pretending so he'd give me the points. I was
never actually going to let him take you.

FAITH
Like you were 'never going to' let Blockbuster BusterBomb me?

SAYEED ALI
Of course not. You're the most important thing in the world to
me. You gotta trust me. We belong together. I... I was going to
wait until after I get done with Bobby Thomas, but...

Sayeed gets down on one knee and presents Faith with a diamond ring.

SAYEED ALI
I know everyone here tonight thinks you aren't the prettiest,
and everyone in the back always says you're not the smartest,
but I love you. Will you marry me?

Faith is stunned... and delighted... and angry... and confused.

JENNY PLAYMATE
Are you kidding me? No! Faith. You know he's a jerk.

SAYEED ALI
I know I've made mistakes. Everyone has. Especially you. But I can
change. Things will be different when we're married.

Faith doesn't know what to say-

SHANE STONES
This is lovely and all, but we've got an Ultimate
Showdown Series to finish. Let's fight!

ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN SERIES FINAL

/w Faith (9) SAYEED ALI VS BOBBY THOMAS (10) /w Jenny
Jack DeColt "8 men. 8 weeks. 28 matches. It all comes down to this. Bobby Thomas can win the Three Wishes with a draw, but only a win will do for Sayeed."

Both men come out swinging. Ali's a phenomenal striker, but Bobby uses his speed and experience to wrestle rings around the street fighter. Sayeed flees outside where he's more comfortable, putting Faith in harm's way to steal an opening to hit the GBH Driver (Implant DDT) on the floor! He rolls inside, confident of a count out victory... but Bobby gets in at 9. Sayeed is furious and impatient and- Bobby nails him with a SUPER KICK! 1... 2... Faith puts Sayeed's foot on the ropes.

Now Bobby is furious. Jenny defends Faith, while pleading with her to stop putting up with this jerk. Ali takes advantage, shoving Bobby into Jenny, and then Faith into Bobby. He tries another GBH Driver (Implant DDT) but Bobby twists free and latches on to the arm, twisting and wrenching it without mercy. Fujiwara Armbar! Americana! Cross Armbreaker! Sayeed screams in pain and begs Faith to help him. He pleads! He yells! Faith picks up the engagement ring and... throws it on the ground! She stomps on it! Bobby wrenches the elbow... and Ali taps!

BOBBY THOMAS WINS (8:32)
(Sayeed Ali +0, Bobby Thomas +3)

BOBBY THOMAS WINS THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN SERIES

Bobby celebrates as Sayeed confronts Faith, yelling at her for not helping him. Jenny tries to step in but Faith's having none of it. She'll handle this. She kicks Ali in the nuts! He goes down and Faith takes his diamond engagement ring and shoves it in his trunks.

Oh Ultimate Showdown Series. I both love and hate you. It's a lot of fun to have a rigid everyone-fights-everyone format, as it gets people in the ring without spending a lot of brain power, but by the end of it I see the limitations, at least in CGC. You can't include the top stars, unless they win all the time, so ratings suffer. The 10-minute time limit, essential for all-important draws, hurts matches further. I think it's ultimately a midcard concept, that could have done with a stronger Zeus or Jack story running in the main events.

For this year's roster, I tried to pick 8 guys with diverse body types and styles who could deliver solid main events, but not really complain about losing to each other. I didn't think about the exile rule when I started, but figured it would be either Dice, Torque or Running Wolf, as they feel the least essential to my future plans. Around about the half way point I had two ideas. The first, is what we got, with Dan DaLay screwing Wolf with the Tomahawk. I would have gone with the other idea if contract negotiations with Hugh Ancrie went differently. I was fairly sure NOTBPW were going to poach him, and if so I would have doubled down on a bad night for Express Delivery; Lords of Vegas would have won the tag titles, Dice would have been exiled, and LaGrenier would be a singles act.

I didn't have a clear idea on who would win either, but when it came to breaking everyone's stories, I couldn't let Sayeed or Blockbuster get the victory. Sayeed has been quietly playing bad boyfriend in the background for too long, and I needed to actually tell the story. And Skip needed to turn, or him and Blockbuster would be playing the same beats forever. The world needed to be different coming out of the Ultimate Showdown Series than it was coming in, and I'd say for 6 or the 8 characters, that's true.

The fun doesn't stop here. This Sunday on Title Bout Wrestling...

Blockbuster & Express Delivery vs Jack DeColt, Skip Beau & The Great Trickerion
