![]() "The Living Legend" Sean McFly versus "The Cornerstone" Riley McManus w/ Jeffery Aroma
McFly is on the tail end of his career and Riley is in his peak. Why else would McFly and James agree to a career vs career match, after all? North American Heavyweight Championship "The Tiger" Alexander Vasquez versus Ox Mastadon w/ Lisa Bowen Vasquez is a credible threat, but Ox isn't going down just yet "Mr. Colorado" Ross Henry versus Mighty Cavanagh Ross "the Boss" Henry North American Tag Team Championship The Devil's Rejects w/ February Malaise versus The Cummos (c) 50-50 here, probably February interferes North American Women's Championship Missy Masterson versus Lucy Stone-McFly We get it, Lucy isn't losing this. Wonder if that "trade deal for a few appearances" info was a red herring and you've signed her up for good like the Keith siblings United States Championship Mountie Mann versus "The Return of the Monster" James Diaz (c) If I may, 'Asian Thumb Spike' is a pretty lame finisher for a big powerhouse Rematch from Oxford Invitational The Southern Stars versus The Canadian Blondes If it says Diaz, Findlay, Bulldozer or Harker on the tin, Historian is biased in favour of it ![]() KC Glenn versus Andrew Harper w/ Lisa Bowen Easy pick |

![]() ![]() Fire on the Mountain 5 Saturday Week 4, May 2021 Live at the Lowe Ballroom Aired on the Synergy Network & Southern States TV Commentators: Michael Riggs, Ricky Dale Johnson, Duke Hazard ![]() ![]() ![]() MR: Hello and welcome to Fire on the Mountain Five! For the first time, a monthly event in Continental Wrestling will be simulcast on our broadcast live! Thank you to our broadcast partners Synergy Network & Southern States TV for allowing us the opportunity. If this is the first big CWL show you’ve seen, you’re in for quite a treat. DH: You’re right they are! Sean McFly will finally get the beating of his life when he steps in the ring with The Cornerstone of CWL -- Riley McManus! I can’t wait to see Riley take the old warhorse behind the barn and put him out of his misery. RDJ: I wouldn’t be so sure, Duke. MR: McFly was originally slated to face Brandon James inside of a steel cage in a career versus career match to settle their feud once and for all. Brandon suffered an injury while appearing for OLLIE. I’ve been told that that match will be coming one week from tonight on Saturday Night Slammasters! RDJ: What a main event signed for the hottest wrestling television show in the country. MR: Tonight, we also have Ox Mastadon defending the North American Heavyweight Championship, James Diaz defending the United States Championship, Lucy Stone-McFly will face the newly arrived Missy Masterson for the Women’s Championship and so much more. But first? KC Glenn and Andrew Harper will due battle. ![]() Opening Match Singles Match Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() ![]() KC Glenn versus Andrew Harper w/ Lisa Bowen KC Glenn and Andrew Harper is the first of two big size mismatches on the night. Harper took control early on -- using his size and power to wear down KC. He hit KC with a big body slam that looked like it broke KC’s back. It got Harper the near fall. A big headbutt, forearm, and backbreaker. Another near fall. KC ducked a big clothesline and caught Andrew Harper with a big dropkick that staggered the big man. This launched a big comeback from KC who managed to hit his Tune Up The Sunshine Band [Superkick]. It dropped Andrew Harper and allowed KC to score the victory. KC Glenn defeated Andrew Harper in 13:01 by pinfall with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band. ![]() ![]() ![]() The cameras cut backstage where the door from the worker’s parking lot is pulled open. Clyde Puder walks into the building pulling his bag behind him. DH: Oh no, what is he doing here? MR: That’s former Heavyweight Champion Clyde Puder! It’s been a year since we’ve seen him. What could this mean? ![]() ![]() Tag Team Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Rematch from Oxford Invitational ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Southern Stars versus The Canadian Blondes In a rematch from the Oxford Invitational, two very experienced teams went toe to toe. The Southern Stars are multiple time NYCW Tag Team Champions while the Canadian Blondes are two time Mid Atlantic Champions and very experienced grapplers. This was a back and forth affair that showcased both teams being in sync and being tag teams to watch. At the Oxford Invitational, it was the Southern Stars who gained the victory but here at Fire on the Mountain, Ozzie Golden ducked what looked to be a big boot from Harker and hit a schoolboy roll up that got the Canadian Blondes the victory. The Canadian Blondes defeated The Southern Stars in 13:21 when Ozzie Golden defeated Animal Harker by pinfall with a quick roll up. ![]() ![]() Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() ![]() Mountie Mann versus "The Return of the Monster" James Diaz © Mountie Mann was making his debut here. The former North of the Border Wrestling standout had been unemployed for the last six months when his contract was not renewed. Just walking through the curtain, the crowd was all over his Royal Mounted Police personna. The experienced grappler had his work cut out for him with the 290lb United States Champion. Diaz dominated the match physically, imposing his will on the veteran Mountie Mann -- who showed himself to be a crafty veteran. He was able to gain control for a short amount of time before James Diaz debut his new powerbomb finisher -- Death by Diaz and got the victory. James Diaz defeated Mountie Mann in 8:17 by pinfall with a Death by Diaz. James Diaz makes defence number 2 of his CWL United States title. -Mountie & Diaz have no chemistry ![]() ![]() Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() ![]() Missy Masterson versus Lucy Stone-McFly Missy Masterson was making her CWL debut here -- having not been offered a contract extension by United States Pro Wrestling. The veteran grappler came out and took the young Stone-McFly to a lesson in grappling. She was highly motivated here and Stone-McFly was caught completely off guard with the barrage of strikes she was hit with. Masterson hit a beautiful superplex that got her a near fall. Stone-McFly fought back and showed the excellent pedigree of being part Stone part McFly. She blocked a drop kick attempt and when Masterson got to her feet, she got caught with Lucy’s version of her father’s famed Delorean Driver [Falcon Arrow]. Stone-McFly got the victory and retained the North American Women’s Championship. Lucy Stone-McFly defeated Missy Masterson in 12:51 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver. Lucy Stone-McFly makes defence number 4 of her CWL North American Women's title. ![]() ![]() Tag Team Match Forty Five Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Devil's Rejects w/ February Malaise vs. The Cummos (c) This was a highly anticipated bout -- The Devil’s Rejects were former two-time North American Tag Team Champions and former COTT World Tag Team Champions. They also won the 2020 Oxford Invitational. They are incredibly experienced and were the standout team from the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling. The Cummos were also graduates of the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling -- brothers from the Islands who won the Tag Team Championships from sure-fire Hall of Famers The Ring Generals. The Cummos showed off their trademark unorthodox offense. A hybrid of Japanese strong style, pure Island brawling, and just a little bit of daredevil offense. They kept the Rejects -- in particular Johnny -- off guard with it. They hit a beautiful brainbuster into a superkick that almost got a near fall. They also hit a flying body splash from Kurt followed by Luis -- the bigger of the brothers -- hitting a flying headbutt that also almost got a two count. Johnny was able to tag in Keith who came in like a house of fire and bought Johnny some time -- but Keith ate a double superkick and fell out of the ring -- but Johnny was able to tag himself in while Keith was falling. February Malaise hopped up on the apron and yelled at Luis to get his attention. Luis -- the legal man -- fell into the trap. While he was distracted, Johnny managed to hit a Reverse Implant DDT and then got his feet on the ropes, which referee Darren Smith was not able to see. The Devil’s Rejects are now three-time North American Tag Team Champions -- more than any other team in history. The Devil's Rejects defeated The Cummos in 12:44 when Johnny Anderson defeated Luis Cummo by pinfall while using the ropes for leverage. The Devil's Rejects win the CWL North American Tag Team titles. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() MF: Next month… Summer Spectacular… The Mission versus McManus & Aroma… Grudge match. If Ranger and I are still tag champs, we’ll put the titles on the line. We’ll give you a shot -- a shot to welcome you back to being able to challenge for championships. It won’t matter. We beat you at the Oxford Invitational and we will beat you again. R: We’re called The Mission -- because that is what we have. A mission. A mission to be the two best wrestlers in the world. Both as a tag team and as a singles. Everywhere we’ve gone, we’ve been tag team champions. Rhode Island Pro Wrestling. Three Times the COTT World Tag Champions. Now we are GWC World Tag Team Champion. Matty was RIPW Champion. It’s only a matter of time until we have cemented ourselves as the best, hands down. Riley and Jeffery… I sincerely hope you’re ready. ‘Cause we’re not on a mission… We are the Mission.” ![]() ![]() Special Attraction Singles Match Forty-Five Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() "Mr. Colorado" Ross Henry versus Mighty Cavanagh Ross Henry has had his problems with Mighty Cavanagh and Des Davids. Des Davids was not in the building; however, as he was appearing for OLLIE. Henry took advantage of this by taking the fight right to Mighty Cavanagh. Cavanagh fought back -- it was like two big bisons in a rut. Hard strikes, hard slams. This was a match that felt like it could have happened in Pride Glory Honor Wrestling. Cavanagh was a product of the Stone’s after all, and the first ever North of the Border Television Champion. That pedigree gives him a very solid base in both strikes and technical wrestling. Ross Henry was heavily motivated to prove that he’s the best wrestler in Continental Wrestling League. Cavanagh went for a big spinebuster but it was countered by a DDT from Henry. Henry followed that up with a big Earthquake Powerslam (Oklahoma Slam) for the victory. In a decent match, Ross Henry defeated Mighty Cavanagh in 13:53 by pinfall with an Earthquake Powerslam. ![]() ![]() Semi Main Event Singles Match Sixty Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "The Tiger" Alexander Vasquez versus Ox Mastadon w/ Lisa Bowen In the second size mismatch of the night, former World’s Junior Heavyweight Champion and former United States Champion, Alexander Vasquez went one on one with the almost five hundred pound Ox Mastadon. Ox has had a death grip on the North American Heavyweight Championship since October of 2020 when he defeated Logan Diaz for it. He has five successful defenses at this point and is looking for his sixth -- but he hasn’t ever faced someone with the speed of Vasquez. Vasquez came out of the gate fast -- with strikes designed to attack the base of Ox. He was not able to get Ox off of his feet. Alexander went for a springboard cross body that Ox countered into a ring-shaking slam. This created the opening that allowed Ox to really go to work. Ox was slow and deliberate and used his significant size advantage to punish Vasquez. He locked Vasquez in a bearhug that seemed to last for a full two minutes -- but Vasquez refused to submit and would not pass out. Vasquez fought out of it and went for a tornado DDT that Ox countered into another big slam. Right after the slam, Ox hit the Ten Ton Splash [Leaping Splash with a running start] and got the victory. Ox Mastadon defeated Alexander Vasquez in 13:56 by pinfall with a Ten Ton Splash. Ox Mastadon makes defence number 6 of his CWL North American Heavyweight title. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ox Mastadon stood in the ring and hoisted the North American Heavyweight Championship. “Long Haired Country Boy” by Travis Tritt blares over the speakers. The fans in the sold out Lowe Ballroom came alive with cheers as Clyde Puder pushed aside the curtain and walked onto the stage. Ox and Lisa’s eyes went wide as Clyde pulled a microphone out. ![]() “Ox. Someone told me you’re goin’ around here callin’ yourself the bull of the woods. You out here tellin’ people you the biggest and the baddest out. And Ox. You’re big. You’re bad. But I’m six feet ten inches tall and I cover the ground I walk on, ya understand what I’m sayin’? I been gone a little while. Had to go experience somethin’ new. But I’m back now and Ox, baybay, I want the North American Heavyweight Championship. You don’t gotta answer me tonight. Talk it over with Lisa. But next month is Summer Spectacular and I think it’d be spectacular for me to put my size fifteen right up yo’ backside.” Clyde dropped the microphone on the stage and exited behind the curtain while Ox and Lisa fumed in the ring. ![]() ![]() Main Event Singles Match Sixty Minute Time Limit ![]() ![]() ![]() "The Living Legend" Sean McFly versus "The Cornerstone" Riley McManus w/ Jeffery Aroma Sean McFly is not the worker he once was. He’s not the guy who could tear down the house and put on classic wrestling matches night in and night out. He’s approaching fifty. He’s suffered some injuries in the latter part of his career that have taken their toll on his body. Riley McManus is entering his prime. Riley came out vicious -- this is the third meeting of the two men. McFly won the first one (albeit by disqualification) and McManus won the second one after help from Jeffery Aroma. McManus came out of the gate vicious. A master of the Slingshot Suplex, Riley targeted the neck of McFly. A series of stiff elbows to the base of the neck and multiple neckbreakers had McFly writhing in pain. McManus went for the Slingshot Suplex, but after bouncing McFly up, McFly used the momentum to continue floating over, landing on his feet behind Riley. He hit a big DDT that bought him some time to recover. McFly unloaded a series of big punches that had McManus stumbling around the ring and finally hitting the mat. This got him a near fall. McFly looked to set up for the Delorean Driver (Falcon Arrow) but his neck could not support any weight of McManus and he dropped him down. McManus took the opening to hit another neckbreaker. McManus pulled McFly over to the corner for the Slingshot Suplex, but all of a sudden “Hail to the King” hits the speakers and Matty Faith came walking to the ring. Jeffery Aroma came around the ring to square off with one half of the GWC World Tag Team Champions. This distracted Riley, who started shouted at Faith. McFly suddenly sprung to life and hit the Delorean Driver. Senior official Darren Smith counted the three and McFly had the victory. In a decent match, Sean McFly defeated Riley McManus in 17:21 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver after a distraction from Matty Faith. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() MR: What a night of action here at Fire on the Mountain! We crowned new tag team champions as The Devil’s Rejects became North American Tag Team Champions for the third time -- though with a little help from February Malaise. Clyde Puder made a shocking return and a shocking challenge to Ox Mastadon. Lucy Stone-McFly and James Diaz successfully defended their championships and Sean McFly managed to get the victory over Riley McManus. DH: He cheated! The match should be thrown out! It was a travesty of justice. RDJ: Last time they met in a singles match, Jeffery Aroma helped secure Riley the victory -- I’d say this is the definition of justice! MR: That’s it for us tonight fans, but immediately following this broadcast is Saturday Night Slammasters! Matthew Keith will be in action against Cameron Vessey, Greg Keith will be in action and so much more! Overall ![]() |
