Hey Historian,

I'm sure it's somewhere in the archives, but I was curious who Father Grimm is?

Is this a regen? Original creation? Or a redressed CVerse worker?

Comments: I just recently started reading from the last couple of shows... too much to go all the way back to everything in time to make a prediction, but I'm going Bowen Services. As something within me says that Riley is going to turn on his team to join Bowen Services and his wife. The way you wrote that piece on her... damn did it give goosebumps.

Steel Cage Warfare
Riley McManus, Homegrown, and the Keith Brothers versus Bowen Services w/ Lisa Bowen
Comments: I'm going to say they pull it off. Bowen Services breaks up, but it let's Bowen find a couple other guys to work with and elevate as Spade, Campbell, Vessey and Rush don't need Bowen. Aroma might get sent to TWL to reinvent himself a bit. But this let's a new group kind of ascend into the feud with these guys.

GWC World Heavyweight Championship
“The Boss” Ross Henry versus Kozue Kawashima ©
Comments: Henry was pushing towards this moment, and while I thought he and Spade would eventually unify GWC and CWL belts, I see a Spade/Henry feud going over the GWC belt now.

United States Championship
“The Butcher” Alexander Vasquez versus “Lionheart” Funakoshi ©
Comments: I still think he is the next in line. I feel a little bad because Funakoshi got a hotshot to the title and has no feud really to fall back on, so I hope he doesn't get shuffled out.

GWC World Women’s Championship
Amber Allen versus Alicia Strong w/ Lisa Bowen ©
Comments: Strong gets to keep being the international face of female wrestling.

The Mission versus The Fallen w/ Father Grim
Comments: I think Matty showed his ability to headline as a singles star, so Ranger is hanging on by a thread. Fallen can transition into a fight with Homegrown.

North American Women’s Championship
Foxxy LaRue versus “The Franchise” Brooke Tyler ©
Comments: Tyler just got it, so she'll hang on. But build LaRue up some more and we can have a rematch in a few months...

“The Evolution” Primus Allen versus Torment w/ Father Grim
Comments: Not sure this happens at all, but Torment as a singles guy could be an interesting matchup for McManus as a quick initial feud.

Bonus Points: Who gets the fall in the Steel Cage Warfare?
Comments: Matthew Keith

Who gets beat in Steel Cage Warfare?
Comments: Ash Campbell -- This sets up a good Keith/Campbell feud moving forward.

Broadcasted OnDemand!

Commentators: Lee Bambino & Ricky Dale Johnson

LB: Hello and welcome to No Law or Order 8! We coming to you live from the Theatre of Dreams with almost ten thousand screaming fans on hand to witness what could be a history making night. I’m not alone though, in the broadcast booth with me is the Sheriff, Ricky Dale Johnson. Ricky, thanks for being here tonight.

RDJ: There is no place I’d rather be than right here for what should be a great night of professional wrestling. The GWC World Heavyweight Champion, Kozue Kawashima, is in the building preparing for his title defense against Ross Henry. Bowen Services has been sequestered all day as they prepare for a Steel Cage Warfare match with so much on the line.

LB: You’re right about that. Lisa Bowen’s group has put their future as a unit on the line tonight in order to secure future opportunities here in CWL. It’s a mighty big gamble from a woman who doesn’t gamble often. You have to wonder, does she have something up her sleeve?

RDJ: I don’t know what she could have up her sleeve that would make her feel comfortable putting her group’s future on the line in such a barbaric contest -- but maybe you’re right Lee.

Quote:

Father Grim and the monster known as Torment stand in the center of the ring. They have a match scheduled with Primus Allen to start the show off.

FG: Tonight the chosen one falls to the unleashed monster. The shark among men. The tormented soul that was promised the world and then had it snatched from him. He began the repossession process when he and his brothers became World Six Man Champions. Tonight he continues his own redemption journey. Tonight the Chosen One lives up to his name. He was Chosen for this Sacrifice.

Opening Match
Singles Match
Twenty Minute Time Limit

“The Evolution” Primus Allen versus Torment w/ Father Grim

Allen and Torment seemed tailor made to clash with one another. Torment is one of the few men on the planet who makes Allen look close to small -- and also allows Allen’s natural speed and explosiveness to be even more impressive. Allen got to show is impressive selling ability -- while Torment got to show off even more strength as he got to toss around Primus Allen. Allen did make a big come back and even got to hit Torment with a big vertical suplex that showed the incredible strength of the former two-time North American Heavyweight Champion.

The crowd really popped for the the suplex and Allen lifted Torment up and tried to get him up for the Running Powerslam -- but this time the weight of Torment caused Allen to collapse with Torment on top of him for a near fall. Torment then hit the Big Bite and was able to secure the victory in what was a very good opening contest.

Torment defeated Primus Allen in 10:30 by pinfall with a Big Bite.

Singles Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

Foxxy LaRue versus “The Franchise” Brooke Tyler ©

Foxxy LaRue, one of the former standout women of Queens of American Wrestling really brought it to the newly minted North American Women’s Champion, Brooke Tyler. It was a very solid contest and Tyler really moved around for Foxxy to make the challenger look extra dangerous. Brooke countered a suplex and took Foxxy down and locked her in a Brooke Breaker and that was it.

Brooke Tyler makes defence number 1 of her CWL North American Women's title.

Tag Team Match
Twenty Five Minute Time Limit

The Mission versus The Fallen w/ Father Grim

The second time Father Grim has been to the ring. This time for a tag team match with Hellion and Scythe teaming up to face The Mission. This was an excellent match between four men who have flourished outside of the SWF system. Matty Faith in particular showed what had made him the North American Heavyweight Champion last year -- the kind of big match performance that his father made commonplace. Matty just understood where to be and how to sell.

Scythe and Hellion continued to showcase good monster heel teamwork -- the kind of teamwork that propelled them to an Oxford Invitational victory last year. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as tonight belonged to The Mission when Matty Faith hit a beautiful Leap of Faith onto Hellion to secure the victory.

The Mission defeated The Fallen in 12:34 when Matty Faith defeated Hellion by pinfall with a Leap Of Faith.

Singles Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

Amber Allen versus Alicia Strong w/ Lisa Bowen ©

Amber Allen had the opportunity of a lifetime against Alicia Strong -- the reigning and defending World Women’s Champion. Strong has been the face of the GWC Women’s Division for several months -- coming into this match up with twelve straight successful defenses. The two women had a great match -- Amber Allen has gotten more and more popular in the United States which has really helped the crowd get into her more which just fuels her in ring performances. She brought everything she had to Alicia Strong, several times almost getting the fall but ultimately it was a Strong Arm Tactic from Alicia Strong that sealed the deal and got defense number 13 in the record books.

Alicia Strong defeated Amber Allen in 15:35 by pinfall with a Strong Arm Tactic. Alicia Strong makes defence number 13 of her GWC World Women's title.

Singles Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

“The Butcher” Alexander Vasquez versus “Lionheart” Funakoshi ©

A rematch from last month between two competitors who shouldn’t mesh like they do, but there is something about them that just fits together. Last month, Alexander Vasquez refused to let go of the Butcher’s Block. This month, the two men continued right where they left off last month. Funakoshi hit several devastating suplexes that landed Vasquez on his neck and looked like the turned him inside out.

Vasquez, for his part, hit several vicious strikes on Funakoshi that showed The Butcher was not going to be outdone -- and each strike landed exactly where Vasquez wanted to target -- the shoulder and neck of Funakoshi -- to soften the champion up for the Butcher’s Block. Vasquez attempted the Cleaver -- a springboard lariat, but Funakoshi ducked under it. Vasquez turned around, ate a kick to the gut and then a Butterfly Backbreaker.

Funakoshi defeated Alexander Vasquez in 17:11 by pinfall with a Butterfly Backbreaker. Funakoshi makes defence number 8 of his CWL United States title.

Quote:

RH: For months, I’ve been working for this moment. I’ve been working for the opportunity to challenge for the World’s Championship. I beat Gino Montero. I beat Jay Chord. I beat Marcelli Ricci. I beat Tommy Cornell and tonight… Tonight I have Kozue Kawashima, the World’s Heavyweight Champion. Tonight I have the biggest challenge of my career and tonight I will rise to the occasion. Tonight I will become World Heavyweight Champion. My word is my bond and you have my word.

“The Boss” Ross Henry versus Kozue Kawashima ©

In the second most anticipated bout of the evening, Ross Henry and the PGHW standout, and reigning World Champion, Kozue Kawashima brought it to one another. It was a slight clash in styles as Kawashima is a man who cut his teeth in the strong-style of Japan whereas Ross Henry is classic American style pro wrestling, but the former pro football player looked right at home trading stiff shots. If Henry’s career had seen him go to Japan instead of SWF, he might have developed into a premier gaijin worker.

Kawashima has been one of the dominant competitors in PGHW for the past two decades -- where he has been employed since 2001. He’s won a record nine Elite Series Tag Team Tournaments and three Glory Growns. The real leader of PGHW with the golden generation being gone. Ross Henry was equal to everything Kawashima threw at him. After absorbing a huge lariat, Henry delivered one of his own and hit a massive Earthquake Powerslam to secure the victory and the World Heavyweight Championship.

Ross Henry defeated Kozue Kawashima in 26:30 by pinfall with an Earthquake Powerslam. Ross Henry wins the GWC World Heavyweight title.

Riley McManus, Homegrown, and the Keith Brothers versus Bowen Services w/ Lisa Bowen

The match everyone came to see. They got to see the steel cage get put up the old fashioned way. It wasn’t above the ring to be lowered -- it had to get put up during a brief intermission (where the fans watching life were treated to a video package to really hype the match.

The match started with Greg Keith and Cameron Vessey started the match and they started off hot. They are natural opponents for each other and it really got showcased in this environment. This was a brutal match between ten fantastic wrestlers who really brought it. Each worker had the opportunity to shine in this. Bowen Services won the coin toss so they did have the advantage. It was a bloody match and it looked like team McManus had the match well in hand when suddenly The Diaz Cousins hopped the guard rail and knocked out the referee guarding the door. James ripped the door off the cage and he and Logan hit the ring and cleaned house on team McManus -- focusing primarily on Homegrown. Logan helped James hit each of Homegrown with a devastating Death by Diaz. After the vicous assault, Spencer Spade locked Clyde Puder in a camel clutch and he was forced to submit.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Bowen Services (Spencer Spade, Cameron Vessey, Franklin Rush, Ash Campbell and Jeffery Aroma) defeated Riley McManus, The Keith Brothers and Homegrown in a Cage Wars match in 27:49 when Spencer Spade defeated Clyde Puder by submission after interference from James Diaz. During the match we also had Logan Diaz run in and attack Yoder.

Franklin Rush was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

A heel turn for the Diaz cousins and a Kane-style "rip the cage door" spot to sweeten their slide to the dark side. Colour me intrigued, the way you've treated the Diaz family I never expected them to turn (kinda like CWL's version of John Cena or Bailey) but I should have known better reading the diary of a man who built up Riley McManus only to turn him heel and win both face and heel worker annual awards for it...
