Week 2, December 1996
Fleet Centre
ATT: 18,000
TV: 19.71

Quote:

The show opens up to the now familiar sight of Vincent K McMahon and the KLiQ standing in the centre of the ring.....the only slight variation on the last two weeks is the fact that Kevin Nash is once again back in the fold......unlike the rest of the group however, who are wearing those sweet black and white shirts, Big Sexy is wearing a Shawn Michaels shirt, while standing separate from the rest of the group, leaning up against the turnbuckles in the corner.

McMahon welcomes us to the show, before saying that while last weeks reunion between Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels didn't exactly go the way he planned.....it did at least happen......

".....so ladies and gentlemen, I give you.....your heros.....the number one merchandise sellers in the WWF.....and the reason you're all here tonight........The KLiQ......."

Shawn Michaels stands glaring at Kevin Nash for a moment, before whispering something in Vince's ear.....

".......let me rephrase that......Ladies and Gentlemen......I give you......the reason for the ratings......Shawn Michaels......and The KLiQ......"

Michaels smirks at Nash, before taking the microphone off Vince. He begins by first of all telling Kevin how nice it is to see him back......

"......and that's a great shirt you're wearing there.....it really suits you.....and I just want to say, no hard feelings buddy.....I know things got a little bit strained between us recently.....but when you're as close as us, that's bound to happen.......oh......and I've even got you a gift......since I know what a "Bad Ass" you are......and how much you like to fight.......I've got you a match tonight......in fact it's gonna happen right now.......when Big Daddy Cool, Big Sexy Kevin Nash......goes one on one with old mumblemouth himself, Ahmed Johnson......"

Nash smiles and asks Shawn if he means his In Your House World Title opponent Ahmed Johnson? Shawn pauses for a moment, before channeling his inner "Home Alone" and placing both hands on his face in shock, telling Nash that it never occurred to him, but yes.....what a coincidence.....that very same Ahmed Johnson.

Big Sexy has the same fake smile plastered across his face that the Heartbreak Kid has, telling Shawn that as long as Vince McMahon there keeps paying the big bucks, Kevin Nash has no problem kicking anyone's ass.......before staring Shawn in the eye, repeating "...anyone...."

".....ok then......glad we got that cleared up......and since I was kinda.......'indisposed' last week......how about that handshake.....pal?....."

Nash smiles and opens his arms wide, telling Shawn that he can do one better than that......

".....come here buddy....."

.....before wrapping his arms around Michaels in a big bear hug.....that was a little too tight and a little too long not to awkward......before letting go and ruffling the champs hair.

Vince McMahon finally breaks the tension, announcing that due to the Million Dollar Intercontinental Champion Rich Steiner abandoning the match last week.....and leaving the WWF Champion Shawn Michaels alone and possibly risking serious injury.....The Heartbreak Kid will have the opportunity to extract his revenge tonight......when it's Champion vs Champion.....non-title obviously......as Shawn Michaels faces Rich Steiner.......and since Shawn is THE main event.....it will be IN the main event......and since Ted DiBiase's men obviously can't conduct their business in a professional manner, it won't just be Steiner that suffers.......because Jeff Jarrett will be facing Psycho Sid at In Your House......because Vince McMahon always gets what he wants......

......but that's not all......because to ensure that we don't have any rude interruptions like last week.......McMahon has also hired extra security to keep Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Loose Cannon Brian Pillman OUT of the building......so Ahmed Johnson, get your ass out here so we can get this show started.

VS.

Ahmed Johnson has got the opportunity of a lifetime coming up in two weeks at In Your House......the last Pay Per View of the year and it could be the last Pay Per View of Shawn Michaels WWF Championship reign.....because if anyone can take that title from around his waist, it's the big man from Pearl River, Mississippi. Jim Ross channels his inner Tony Sciavone, claiming on commentary that this is possibly the biggest opening contest that we have witnessed here on Monday Night Raw.....it's not......but I appreciate the effort Jim.

Clearly realising that he is severely outnumbered here (since Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall have opted to remain at ringside) Ahmed has bought lumber out with him......big lumber......which he swings threateningly at HBK and The Bad Guy, warning them to keep out of his way. Nash may be back on the black and white express.....but the crowd still seem to like him, because both he and Ahmed get a good reception throughout this one.

The match tended to drift a little bit, because let's face it, it's Ahmed Johnson and Kevin Nash.....two hugely popular stars known for their power, not their technical prowess. We did see plenty of power too.....not many men can toss Ahmed Johnson around like Kevin Nash did.....and likewise, you don't see Nash lifted off his feet very often.....but there's obviously a bonus per bump ratio in that new contract, because Nash even takes a suplex in this one....in the end however, this was never going to go off without a hitch......

.......because as Ahmed goes for the seemingly impossible, hooking Nash into position for the Pearl River Plunge......Shawn Michaels comes bounding across the ring and almost takes his head off with some Sweet Chin Music.......right in front of the official.....who has no choice but to call for the bell.

Winner: Ahmed Johnson (via Disqualification)
Rating: B

Nash does not look happy about that result......and shouts at Michaels, asking him what he thinks he's doing.....but Michaels patronisingly pats the big man on the back.....telling him that he's just looking out for his buddy.......so why don't you return the favour......and stick this idiot with a Jacknife for your old pal HBK. Big Sexy still isn't happy, telling Shawn that he had this.....he didn't need his 'help'.......but reluctantly he picks up Ahmed anyway, signalling for the Powerbomb......

......which is when we have the surprise arrival of the Sons of Samoa.....as Rikishi and the massive Kokina make their way down the aisle....

.....the two Islanders have got a date with the WWF Tag Team Champions, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall at In Your House.....but it looks like they want to get up close and personal with their opponents early as they storm the ring, breaking up the attack before it begins and giving Ahmed the opportunity to grab a hold of his wood, which he swings wildly around the ring as Hall, Nash and Michaels scatter.....giving us all in all a pretty wild opening to tonight's show as we go to commercial.

VS.

It's time for the Light Heavyweights....and a relative newcomer to the division....at least here on Monday Night Raw anyway....because young Billy Kidman has been plying his trade on Superstars for a few months now.....but it's prime time tonight and his chance to make an impression.

His high flying moves certainly do that, as he faces off against the more grounded offence of Brian Christopher.....and he very nearly picks up an upset victory over the surprisingly well seasoned young veteran....(there's an oxymoron for you).....but in the end it's Christopher who picks up the victory, after hitting a full Nelson facebuster for the three count.

Winner: Brian Christopher

To the back we go, where Dok Hendrix is standing by with the Nation of Domination, ahead of their upcoming clash with the team of Jeff Hardy and Road Warrior Hawk. Dok asks Faarooq how he feels about this upcoming match, but Faarooq has got other things on his mind.....he asks Hendrix, what's he got to do? What's he got to do to get a fair shot around here? He says that the Sons of Samoa.....who the Nation BEAT at Survivor Series.....are suddenly getting a shot at the Tag Team Titles......a brother FINALLY gets a shot at the World Wrestling Federation Championship.....and they pick the only brother they know will lose, NOT Faarooq, because Faarooq would win and that would spoil their plans.....and as for tonight.....tonight the Nation aren't even facing a real team.....just some hybrid mismatch of two other low rent teams.....and this is exactly the problem with the WWF.....Scott Steiner wasn't seen for months......he goes out, bleaches his hair.....and becomes the little blonde haired white boy......and the Sucka gets an Intercontinental Title Shot......where's Faarooq's shot......where's the Nations shot?

The Rock is up next, telling Hendrix that ".....I don't care how you say it....I don't care which way you look at it.....there's a conspiracy within the World Wrestling Federation, to keep the Nation of Domination down, and The Rock says it stops NOW......see The Rock is the hottest young superstar this business has ever seen.....young, devastatingly handsome....charisma out the caboose.....and it doesn't matter what any other jabroni in any wrestling company in the world wants to call himself, because the Rock is without a doubt the complete and total package....."

Rock says that he and Faarooq are going to deal with Hawk and Jeff, the super friends, tonight....and then one way or another, The Nation of Domination are going to start to get some respect around here.....by any means necessary.

VS.

It's tag team action now.....and we have two teams here that are BOTH teaming up for the first time....because while Hawk and Jeff Hardy have been on the same side in numerous eight Man matches, they have always had their partners in the corner too for that comfort blanket.....not to mention the fact that these two men will be on OPPOSITE teams in two weeks time at In Your House, when the Hardy Boys look to graduate from the Road Warrior School of Very Hard Knocks, when they face the Legion of Doom.

It's the first time teaming up for Faarooq and The Rock too, although these two at least have the same goal ultimately....to bring respect.....and gold.....to the Nation of Domination....and with Ahmed Johnson and The Sons of Samoa challenging for Championships at In Your House, Rick Rude points out that the Nation may just have a point, because it does appear as though they are being deliberately pushed aside when it comes to handing out title shots.

As for the match, it was decent enough.....chaotic (what with Animal, Matt Hardy, Kama, Nelson and Scorpio all being at ringside).....but decent none the less....but in the end it was miscommunication that brought about the finish.....because on the urging of Hawk, Jeff Hardy (who's not exactly known for his feats of strength) rather unsteadily hoisted The Rock up on his shoulders for what looked to be a Doomsday Device attempt.....but Kama reached into the ring to grab the ankle of Hardy just as Hawk flew.....Hardy lost his footing and his balance, dropping the Rock, as Hawk crashed into nothing but canvas......and one Rock Bottom later, the Nation pick up the victory, before heading to the back in celebration, while the Hardys and The Legion of Doom have a disagreement in the ring about who was to blame for the loss.

Winner(s): The Nation of Domination

It's promo time again.....and the crowd explodes as the screeching guitar signals the arrival of the Hart Foundation making their way down the aisle. The trio climb into the ring, and for the Hitman and Owen, it's the first time we have seen them since they were arguably screwed out of any future Championship opportunities against the KLiQ back at the Survivor Series.....and by the owner of the company Vince McMahon none the less. Bret takes a microphone and it seems that he wants to address exactly that. He says that he's had a lot of great moments in his career.....signing with the WWF back in late 1984.....winning the WWF Tag Team Titles (twice) with Jim Neidhart.....winning his first Intercontinental Championship against Mr. Perfect.....and his second against the great Rowdy Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania VIII.....winning the King of the Ring tournament.....but they all paled in comparison to the day he defeated Ric Flair for his very first World Wrestling Federation Championship.....

.....he says that all his life he has strived to be the very best......the best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be.....but to BE the best, you have to be able to wear the Championship that says you're the best....be that the best singles wrestler.....OR the best Tag Team wrestler.....and Bret says that thanks to the man that bought him to the WWF.....thanks to the man that he thought of as a father figure.....a friend.....thanks to Vince McMahon.....as long as the KLiQ holds the top two titles in professional wrestling, he can never do that again.....Bret says he feels like he got screwed.....screwed by the KLiQ.....and screwed by the owner of the WWF, Vincent Kennedy McMahon......

......and while the KLiQ could lose those titles any day.....they could also NOT lose them....he says there's a long list of great wrestlers that have tried and failed to wrench that World Title away from Shawn Michaels.....himself included......and while Owen is young enough and happy enough to still be able to challenge for the Intercontinental Championship......it's World or nothing for The Hitman......and if he can't compete for the WWF Title and be the best singles wrestler......if he can't compete for the WWF Tag Titles with his brother and be the best Tag Team wrestler...........well then, he really doesn't know if he has any future left here in the World Wrestling Federation.....

He says he gave twelve years of his life to the WWF to prove he's the best....and he's at a stage in his career where he doesn't have time to wait around for the KLiQ to lose.....only to no doubt have Vince McMahon screw him again.....so for now.....while he wishes Owen and Davey all the luck in the world......for now.........he's going home.

After that blockbuster announcement it's back to the action.....and a match that has come about following the events of last week, where Chris Candido threw the towel in for young Rey Mysterio in his match against the Big Red Monster Kane.....and apparently Kane didn't take too kindly to his fun being prematurely ended last week.....and tonight he is going to take that frustration out on Mysterio's In Your House Light Heavyweight Title Challenger....Chris Candido.....

....and to be honest, this match goes much the same way last weeks match went.....with Candido being completely outmatched by the Monster. Candido has had good success in recent weeks against the likes of the KLiQ.....even ridding the WWF of Hunter Hearst Helmsley.....but Kane is a very different kettle of fish.....and he gives Candido the biggest beating of his career.....

.......so much so, that in a mirror image of last week, Rey Mysterio comes running down the aisle, where he tosses a towel in the ring in an effort to put Candido out of his misery.....and again, even though Rey has no capacity to stop the match....the referee concedes that Candido has suffered enough, and calls this one off....and for two weeks in a row, both Champion and Challenger have now saved the other from certain injury ahead of their Title match at In Your House.

Winner: Kane (by stoppage)

It's that time again folks......time for Sherlock Snow to crack open the casebook....as he makes his way down the aisle and into the ring (still in full Deerstalker and Pipe get up....along with Doctor Head) where he tells the crowd that he's sure they're wondering why he gathered them all here today......well it's time for the final instalment of "The Loved One".....and while it's been wonderful coming out here week after week.....and even though Head never shuts up....it is becoming rather lonely.....

".....so Mankind.....why don't you join the party....because I'm sure you're going to want to see this......"

.....and the deranged one does indeed come out......to a definite chant of "Dude Love" from the crowd, before climbing into the ring with Sherlock Snow. Snow asks him if he heard the people just then.......they don't want "Jack".....they don't want Mankind to have to suffer for others anymore.......he points to the video screen, before telling Mankind.....

".....they want the Dude....."

The screen flickers to life, and in that same grainy home movie we see The Masked Debater.....but now he's sporting a new look....he wears his torn and tattered pajama top proudly, sports a new pair of sunglasses, long hair wrapped in a bandanna, and a goatee....coming out with the Grand Lizard, where he cuts basically the first promo of his life. He announces that he is going to rise to the top....the tippy top....and win the ultimate prize, the World Wrestling Federation title.

And so we are treated to snippets of "Matches".....categorising the Dudes rise through the rankings, (along with shots of magazines with Micks face glued to the covers) until it's finally time for his big title match against the World Wrestling Federation Champion, Ishmala. Dude Love finally does it....he defeats Ishmala and if finally crowned the WWF Champion.....but that's not where the story ends....no, no, no.....

Because next the Dude has to defend that title.....and his challenger....is Big Dick Zuck.....and after a long match, the Dude sets Zuck up on top of a mattress....and climbs to the roof of the nearby house.......before striking a Superfly Jimmy Snuka pose......and leaping for the big finish.........except Big Dick moves out of the way....and the Dude lands hard. With no one home, the Dude is stunned, which gives Big Dick the chance to apply his finishing maneuver, the dreaded Sodomizer......and a humiliated Dude Love runs off, never to be seen again.

The screen fades out and both Sherlock Snow and Mankind have a smile on their face....Snow tells Mankind that he could see the joy in that young man's eyes.....the passion.....the desire....the 'Real' Mick Foley.....before the Raven's of the world ground him down.....he tells Mankind that he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone.....other than himself......

"......but you know....there's one thing that bothered me about the Dude's story.......there was no closure......The Dude lost, sure.....but everyone loses......it's all about the comeback......it's all about the rematch.......it's time......for the Dude to come out of hiding......and regain that WWF Championship......."

....and much like Raven has in recent weeks, Snow pulls out a shirt that he had kept tucked under his outfit.......but it's not the one Raven wants him to wear.....this is a colourful tie-dye shirt.....which Mankind hesitatingly accepts, staring down at it as the crowd chant for 'Dude Love'........

.....which is when Raven comes marching down to the ring......snatching the shirt from Mankinds hand, before backhanding Al Snow right across the face, telling him that he thought he had made himself clear.....this stops NOW. HE turns back to Mankind, who is looking down at the tie-dye shirt with a smile on his face.......and slaps the taste out of his mouth too, declaiming that.....

".....you stand there smiling.....reminiscing about your wasted youth.....while a demon stalks my soul? I've given you everything you ever wanted Mick......a home......a family.......acceptance.....a sense of belonging......and this is how you repay me? I've given my body to save yours......I've given you everything......and what do I get in return? What about me.......WHAT ABOUT RAVEN?......

......the devil himself wants to dance on my grave.....but instead of giving me Jack, you're out here with him
(pointing at Snow) and contemplating this? (holding up the tie-dye shirt) maybe you don't fully comprehend the seriousness of this situation......or maybe I need to increase the intensity......because everything that happens from here on out.....are because of YOU.....Quote the Raven......Nevermore....."

The Undertaker is out....and looking for a fight......which is probably why he has left Paul Bearer in the back, considering their are eight Flock members at ringside.....and if it's a fight he wants, it's a fight he's going to get.....as Raven hand picks Bill DeMott as the sacrificial lamb....and sacrificial lamb he was......because while DeMott is a big man, and does manage to garner some offence against the Deadman.....he's no match for a Deadman on a Mission.....and eventually gets out away with the Tombstone Piledriver.

Winner: The Undertaker

The bell rings and instantly orders the Flock into the ring....apart from Snow and Mankind who are forced to watch the carnage unfold. Doink, Daniels and the Dogs of War pounce on the Undertaker.....who is briefly overwhelmed......but as we said earlier, this is a Deadman on a Mission....and slowly but surely he begins to fight off his attackers.....hitting both Doink and Daniels with a chokeslam, before clotheslining Wrath and Crush over the top rope and to the outside.......before turning around.......straight into a brutal steel chair shot from Raven.

The Undertaker drops to the mat and Raven lays into him with a series of shots across the back with the Cold metal.....then tosses it to the mat, dropping to his knees beside the Deadman, muttering "......make me feel your pain......" over and over at his In Your House opponent......before dragging the Undertaker to his feet by the hair.......and driving him skull first into the steel chair with the Evenflow DDT. He kneels over the chest of the Deadman with his arms outstretched, until Daniels hands him a microphone.....

".......bring me the reckoning Undertaker......bring me Jack.....bring me your fury......prices need to be paid for indiscretions.....but what cost will it have on your soul.....Quote the Raven, Nevermore......"

We head to the back where Dok Hendrix is standing by with Ted DiBiase and his Million Dollar Corporation.....Dok asks Deebs how he feels about Vince McMahons announcement.....first that Rich Steiner will be facing Shawn Michaels next......and secondly that as punishment for Steiners behaviour last week, at In Your House, Jeff Jarrett will be squaring off against Psycho Sid.....

".....Punishment? You think that's punishment little man? The way we see it, Rich Steiner taking out Shawn Michaels tonight just puts him next in line for a World Title shot......and as for Psycho Sid.....Jeff Jarrett has been embarrassing that big lumbering idiot for weeks now, do you really think that In Your House is going to be any different?

Jeff Jarrett is going to show the world that Sid is nothing more than a big man with no substance......and Rich Steiner here......he's going to show everybody, who the true Alpha Dog in the Steiner Brothers is....."

Steiner and Jarrett both reiterate DiBiase's statement.....claiming that In Your House will be a clean sweep for the Million Dollar Corporation, before the group leave, because it's main event time next.

Rating: B+

VS.

It's time for the main event of the evening.....Champion vs Champion.....Shawn Michaels vs Rich Steiner.....although it's a somewhat odd combination of opponents.....because neither man is particularly well liked by the crowd.....although these two do have somewhat of an unresolved history.....because when Scott Steiner was challenging for the WWF Championship back in June/July time, it was Rich Steiner that took the brunt of the punishment, as the KLiQ looked to make an example of the elder Steiner.

Because of the heel/heel combination.....and because of the fact that neither man is going to work as the baby face in peril here, it's a pretty even back and forth match up....Michaels might be the World Champion, but Rich proves here that Scott isn't the only Steiner that can throw the Champ about.....although the whole match grinds to a halt as the video screen flickers to life......

......and we see Stone Cold Steve Austin and Brian Pillman somewhere in the arena, stepping over a pile of unconscious security guards.....they notice the camera and Austin informs the viewers that......

".....all the security guards in the world ain't gonna do squat if we want to get in the building son.....and I can tell you this......I ain't no Bret Hart, and neither is Brian Pillman......and we ain't gonna take out ball and go home just because Shawn Michaels is the WWF Champion.....the way I see it, we got two outcomes here......either Shawn Michaels picks himself up a little injury and has to give up the belt.......or maybe someone goes out of their way to make sure that the Boy Toy loses that title.....to say.....Ahmed Johnson? And whichever way you look at it, one way or another, Stone Cold Steve Austin is going to be the World Champion, and that's the bottom line......now get that camera out of my face before I whip your ass too....."

And with that the pair push past the cameraman and continue their walk into the building.....presumably heading for the ring. Back out at Ringside, Vince McMahon has made is way out with a worried look on his face and the rest of the KLiQ and a sea of security guards in tow......meanwhile in the ring, Rich Steiner has decided enough is enough......and he collects his title from the timekeeper before heading up the aisle......he's outta here.

Winner: Shawn Michaels (via Count-Out)
Rating: B

Quote:

Vince organised a line of defence at the bottom of the ramp way, Michaels is stood safely in the ring while Nash, Hall, Waltman and Credible stand on the floor.....with a number of security guards behind them.....watching Rich Steiner and Ted DiBiase exit up the aisle......suddenly a figure comes running out from the back......with a steel pipe in hand......

......as Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner, nails brother Rich in the back of the head.....Scott bends over and picks up his brothers dropped Intercontinental Championship, draping it over his over his massive shoulder.....before pointing the steel pipe squarely at Shawn Michaels. McMahon orders his minions to get Steiner out of there, while the KLiQ hold the line......but one by one the poor security guards get nailed with the metal pipe....until there's no one left but Steiner and the KLiQ.......

......which is when Steve Austin and Brian Pillman hop the rail behind all the action.....Pillman picks up a steel chair and then slides into the ring, where Austin is already waiting to spin Michaels around and drops him flat in the middle of the mat with the Stone Cold Stunner, then dropping down on top of him to talk trash right in his unconscious face.

The KLiQ turn to stop the assault in the ring, but Pillman quickly places Shawn Michaels ankle inside the folding chair.....threatening to break the World Champions leg unless they back off.....as Stone Cold picks up a microphone.....

"......now then, seems to me like we've got a little bit of a Mexican stand off......everybody knows that Stone Cold Steve Austin is a real man.....and he ain't gonna take his ball and go home like the so called Hitman, Bret Hart.....you say I can't have another shot at that World Title as long as Shawn Michaels has it around his scrawny little waist......I say, if we snap his damn ankle like a twig, he ain't gonna be in any condition to be the Champion......so it goes like this......I'm a fair man.....a reasonable man......I'm an agreeable fella.......so how about this......there's a little Pay Per View coming up called the Royal Rumble......and since I've never asked for a damn thing my whole life.....and I've earned everything I've got the hard way......how-about you put me and Brian in the Royal Rumble match......"

Vince starts yelling no, that's not happening, but Austin talks right over him.....telling him either he puts him and Pillman in the match, or the Sexy Boy here gets a broken ankle......and by the looks of it Scott Steiner is going to break some more bones with that lead pipe down there. Michaels eventually screams at Vince to just give them the damn match, clearly he doesn't want a broken ankle......and eventually the owner of the WWF accepts the demands and the show comes to a close on a very tense scene.

The biggest news to come out of Monday Night Raw, was the enormous rating we got.....a definite record breaker for us, and at a 19.71 it was almost a full point up on last week......I'm just sorry we didn't present a better show for those additional viewers.....I knew that the segments were going to be what carried the show this week, I just didn't except them to do so well......Raven for example has really shone when he's been out there on the microphone....he was a good talker when we signed him, but he's really progressed in a short length of time and he and the Undertaker have shone in all their segments together.

For their first time teaming together Faarooq and The Rock had excellent chemistry in their against Hawk and Jeff Hardy, The Rock is really relishing his new heel persona, and Jerry Lawlers tutelage is certainly a benefit to him.

We had a number of Pay Rise requests this week, the biggest of which came from Kane, who wanted a $20,000 a month rise.....to be fair he's still on Jobber to the Stars Issac Yankem's contract, but he's really stepped up his game, and where Issac was a midcarder at best, Kane has already broken into the main event......even so I still only paid him 75% of what he wanted, he was happy with that though.

WCW made a number of signings this week....it looks as though they are trying to bolster their Tag Team division, which currently consists of such strange combinations as Dave Finlay and Rocco Rock......and the current Champions, Marcus Bagwell and Headshrinker Samu......in fact their only real team was Harlem Heat.....this week however they have signed The Amazing French Canadians, the former Beverly Brothers Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom as well as a team from ECW called The Pit Bulls. They also signed a decent looking prospect in Mike Awesome, who's been competing in Japan as The Gladiator. Mike is a big lad with decent ring skills.....although he's also related to the Hulkster, so that might have had something to do with the signing too.

Outside of the US, New Japan Pro Wrestling have made Masahiro Chono the figurehead of the company, its a good choice to be fair, Chono is the back bone of that promotion.

Week 3, December 1996
The Pit
ATT: 18,000
TV: 19.69

Quote:

We are just six days away from the final WWF Pay Per View of 1996, but tonight's show opens with a quick recap of the closing scenes of LAST weeks show.....which interestingly enough could have ramifications on the first WWF Pay Per View of 1997, as Vince McMahon was (reluctantly) forced to enter Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Loose Cannon Brian Pillman into the Royal Rumble match.....where (despite the stipulation that unfolded at Survivor Series) should either man win, they will be eligible to Challenge for the WWF Championship at Wrestlemania.....whether Shawn Michaels is the Champion or not.

The promo comes to an end and we go live to the arena, where the owner of the WWF himself, Vince McMahon is power matching his way down the aisle. He climbs into the ring and there's no KLiQ with him tonight.....tonight the Boss is taking the spotlight. He tells the crowd to first of all shut up and let him speak....before saying that last week, Steve Austin and Brian Pillman showed the world exactly what sort of men they are.....men that renege on a deal.....men that do not honour their word.....men who try to back out of stipulations that are levied upon them.......

".....well Vincent Kennedy McMahon is not such a man.....Vincent Kennedy McMahon is an honourable man, and unlike Steve Austin and Brian Pillman, his word is his bond......so yes.....at the 1997 Royal Rumble, both Brian Pillman and Stone Cold Steve Austin.....WILL be in the Royal Rumble match.....and should either man win, they WILL go on to Wrestlemania, where they will Challenge for the WWF Championship.....even if Shawn Michaels still holds that prestigious prize....."

There's a big pop from the crowd at that announcement.....but Vince isn't finished......because he says none of that matters......because neither Austin nor Pillman are going to be walking out of the Royal Rumble.....and the reason for that is simple.......there will be no need for them to choose their random entry numbers.......because Stone Cold Steve Austin will be entering the Royal Rumble match at Number one.......and the Loose Cannon Brian Pillman.....well, surprise, surprise.....is going to be walking in at Number two.....not only that, both men have been barred from the arena tonight AND Sunday night.....and unlike last week, should they violate that order, not only will they lose their Royal Rumble spots, they will also be fired.....and that ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you cross the boss.....

"......and there's one more person who needs to realise exactly what happens when you cross the boss.....and that man's name is Scott Steiner......who just last week, walked down that aisle with a big metal pipe in his hand, waving it around the place like he was trying to compensate for something.......maybe Big Poppa Pump isn't so big where it matters....."

He tells Steiner that instead of worrying about Shawn Michaels and the WWF Title, he should be concentrating on Titles that are at his level......like the Intercontinental Title shot he has on Sunday.....

"......because Steiner, if I WANTED you to be the Champion of the World Wrestling Federation, I wouldn't have gone to so much trouble to ensure that your so called Championship "victory" against Shawn Michaels was stricken from the record books.....and because of your insubordination these last few weeks, tonight, you've got a little warm up match ahead of In Your House........against the Big Red Monster.....Kane....."

VS.

Our first match of the evening sees young Chris Jericho going up against Billy Gunn. Both of these two have all the talent in the world, and should have big futures ahead of them here in the WWF.....but while Jericho is happy to go it alone, Gunn is not averse to having a little help along the way, which is why he employed the services of Mr. Perfect to act as his executive consultant....a job that saw him perform so perfectly (obviously) that he appears to have extended his clientele to one Jesse James now as well....and both men accompany Billy Gunn to the ring here tonight.

Chris Jericho is good......very good....in fact you could argue that the youngster is a future WWF Champion in the making.....and he could probably beat Billy Gunn in a straight one on one match.....he could possibly beat him with Mr. Perfect in his corner......but Perfect and James? That's a big ask.....especially when Perfect used every trick in the book to monopolise the attention of the official, meaning that Jericho often found himself fighting two men.....which is exactly how this one ended.....with James nailing Jericho in the back of the head with a stiff kick as Jericho was attempting to set up the Liontamer....that was all Gunn needed to connect with the Famouser for the three count and a huge victory.

Winner: Billy Gunn
Rating: B-

Quote:

The match is over, but it looks like Perfect's Posse haven't finished with Jericho, as all three men hit the ring to put the boots to the youngster after the bell. They stomp Lionheart down for a while, before James picks him up to deliver a Pumphandle Slam, before Perfect drags Jericho into position for another Billy Gunn Famouser. Before he can hit it however......

......Lance Storm of all people comes tearing down the aisleway with a steel chair in hand. Remarkably he swings the chair wildly, sending Perfect, Gunn and James running to the outside. Storm then stands, chair in hand over Jericho's battered body, protecting him from further attack until the young man can finally stand up of his own accord.....

.......and that's when Lance Storm levels him with a hard chair shot to the head......

.....he kneels down beside Jericho, asking him if he really thought for a second that he was out here to help him? He says that the only reason he's out here, is to let Chris know that unlike Billy Gunn, Lance Storm won't need any help to defeat Jericho at In Your House.....and his little Liontamer won't be any help to him....because (since he broke his ass the last time he hit his Piledriver) Storm has a move of his own.....and since he's twice the man Jericho is, he only needs half the move to defeat him......

.....he hooks Jericho by the ankle and turns him over into a Single Leg Boston Crab which has Lionheart screaming in agony until a number of officials finally manage to pry Storm off his In Your House opponent.

Young Billy Kidman had a good showing last week on Raw, just coming up short in his match with Brian Christopher, but the newcomer is clearly destined for big things here in the Light Heavyweight division, but he has another big test tonight against the very talented Chavo Guerrero.

Both of these competitors have youth on their side, so this is a fast paced match up, with plenty of high flying offence.....although it was ultimately that high flying offence that cost Chavo the match.....because as he tried to hit with a top rope dropkick, Kidman was able to counter before it connected, driving Guerrero into the mat with a Sit Out Spinebuster for the one, two, three.

Winner: Billy Kidman

We go backstage following that assault, where we find Raven stood in the centre of a dim room surrounded by the members of the Flock. He looks each man in the eye one by one, saving Al Snow and Mankind for last.....with Mankind receiving the longest look of them all.....before he begins to speak.....

".....no matter how much you give in this world, for some people it's never enough......you can serve them the heavens and the earth on a silver platter.....you can suffer for them.....sacrifice for them.......risk your very soul for them.....and yet when the time comes to return the favour, they vanish in a puff of smoke......and all their promises of loyalty and love are replaced by lies and betrayal......Saints with the lips of a Sinner.....Angels with the Demons kiss.....

.....I ask for so little in this life.....I give so much......but instead of giving me what I need......YOU Mankind chose to entertain the ramblings of a fool above the advice of a genius......"Dude Love" is nothing more than the folly of a child......"Dude Love" is the plaything that entertains before the realities of life take over......."Dude Love" is NOT the man that will lead Mick Foley to glory......but then maybe glory is not what you truly desire......because I know.....and you know....."Jack" could carve a path of pain and destruction through the WWF like no other....."Jack" could see you lay claim to the WWF Championship......"Jack" could lead you to glory as easily as he leads others to suffering......but because YOU won't embrace the dark, now all around you must suffer......why can't you see that without the darkness, the stars wouldn't shine so bright.....and Jack could shine the brightest of them all.....my star of the north....."

Raven reaches behind him and once again pulls out the same shirt he has been desperately trying to get Mankind to take for weeks now.....before forcing it into his hand, telling him very well.....if he won't do it for Raven.....then do it for your newfound friend Al Snow......because Al has a match next......and he's going out there alone.......against the Undertaker. Mankind shakes his head, telling Raven to reconsider.....Al Snow is a lot of things.....

"......but he's not like us.....he's not equipped to deal with the levels of evil that the Deadman can bring....he's....."

......he's not like ME.......but he's exactly like YOU......a scared little boy.....only where you want to hide behind masks and tie-dye shirts......he hides behind a mask of madness and a mannequin head.......he WILL face the Undertaker......he WILL suffer.......YOU could alleviate that suffering......whether you do so or not.....is down to you.......Quote the Raven......Nevermore......."

VS.

So after dismantling Bill DeMott last week, tonight it's Al Snow's turn to face the Reaper......except tonight, Snow doesn't have the Flock at ringside.....and The Undertaker is in an even worse mood tonight following the vicious assault of Raven after last weeks victory. Snow gives it the good old fashioned college try....he really does......but he's absolutely no match for The Undertaker tonight......and a Chokeslam is all it takes to put the eccentric Al Snow down for the three count.

Winner: The Undertaker
Rating: B

Quote:

The Undertaker may have picked up the victory.....but it has done nothing to quench the thirst for violence that is coursing through his body. He picks up Snow and delivers another hard Chokeslam, screaming Raven's name as he does so, demanding that the man behind the macabre make his way out.....

......which he does......along with Mankind, who is still clutching the shirt in his hand. Mankind goes to make his way down the aisle.....but Raven stops him....telling him that this is no concern of Mankind's......only Jack can deal with this. Mankind looks down at the shirt in his hand, and appears to be seriously contemplating his next move.....but from the ring Al Snow begs him not to do it......telling Mankind that he doesn't need Jack......and Snow would rather suffer at the hands of The Undertaker, than see Dude Love die at the hand of Jack......and so reluctantly Mankind stands back and watches as the Undertaker pick poor Al up.....and drives his skull into the mat with a Tombstone Piledriver.

The Undertaker drops to one knee, inviting Raven to join him in the ring.....but Raven simply turns to Mankind, telling him that all of this is on HIS hands.....before slowly turning and walking to the back, without even acknowledging the presence of The Deadman.

Time for a little bit of Tag Team action now, as the Hardys take on the Texas Long Riders. The two Texans haven't been on TV much since an injury to Barry Windham bought their momentum to a screeching halt, and there hasn't been a great deal for them to do since his recovery. The Hardys on the other hand have seen plenty of screen time....and are just six days away from possibly the biggest match of their young careers, when they face of against their mentors the Legion of Doom. Speaking of Hawk and Animal, they are out with their protégés tonight, determined to deliver one last lesson before their In Your House showdown.

Unfortunately their presence causes to be more of a distraction than a help, because as the Hardys are busy trying to wrestle their own match, they have the advice from the LoD ringing in their ears throughout the match, as Hawk and Animal bark instructions from the floor. This eventually leads to Matt Hardy turning his attention away from the match to inform the Road Warriors that they've got this.......however.....they don't 'got this'......because as Hardy has his back turned, Windham rolls the youngster up from behind....and hooks a handful of tights for good measure to capture a much needed victory for the Long Riders.

Winner(s): The Texas Long Riders
Rating: B

Quote:

Understandably the Hardys are less than amused at the way they lost this one.....and are quick to (rightfully) point the finger of blame in The Legion of Dooms direction. Hawk and Animal aren't as quick to accept the blame however.....stating that if Matt and Jeff plan on defeating them at In Your House, then they had better not be so easily distracted....before a shoving match finally breaks out.....and just six days before they clash, this friendly little teacher/student match has got a lot more intense.

It's time to head to the back now, where Dok Hendrix is standing by with the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship, Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner. Dok asks Scotty about both Vince McMahons comments from earlier in the night, as well as word on his opponent tonight Kane...AND his In Your House opponent.....his own brother, Rich Steiner....

Scott pauses for a moment to stare Hendrix out, before bringing his lead pipe up and resting it against his massive shoulder....

"........FIRST OF ALL....YOU SEE THIS DOK?....NO MATTER WHAT VINCE MCMAHON THINKS, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF BIG POPPA PUMPS FREAKS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY THAT WILL TELL YOU, THAT THIS AIN'T THE ONLY PIPE THAT SCOTT STEINER LAYS DOWN ON A DAILY BASIS.....AND THEY'LL ALL TELL YOU THE SAME THING TOO.....BIG POPPA PUMP IS BIG ALL OVER.........................I'M TALKING ABOUT MY PENIS DOK........"

"........yes.....I think we all caught that.....all over the country you say?....."

"......I'M THINKING OF BRANCHING OUT NEXT YEAR.....TAKING THE BIG BAD BOOTY DADDY ON AN INTERNATIONAL TOUR......"

".......do you hear the things that come out of your mouth at the same time that we do? Or do you actually think about what you're going to say before you speak?....."

"......WHAT?..........."

".......never mind........"

".......AS FAR AS TONIGHT GOES, IF BEATING UP THAT BIG RED FREAK KANE IS SUPPOSED TO BE PUNISHMENT, THEN VINCE MCMAHON IS EVEN STUPIDER THAN HE LOOKS.....I'LL BREAK THE MONSTER IN HALF......THEN I'LL GO ON TO IN YOUR HOUSE.....AND KICK MY BROTHERS ASS, JUST LIKE I DID EVERY DAY WHEN WE WERE KIDS.....I'LL TAKE HIS DIGNITY, HIS MANHOOD.....AND HIS TITLE......THEN I'M GONNA GO ON TO THE ROYAL RUMBLE, JUST SO I CAN GO ON TO WRESTLEMANIA......AND SHOVE VINCE MCMAHONS HAND PICKED CHAMPION UP HIS ASS, BECAUSE I NEVER SHOULD HAVE LOST THE BELT IN THE FIRST PLACE......"

Alright Scott you've started to ramble now.....but we get the point......it's a good job that what Scott Steiner lacks in cohesive sentences, he more than makes up for in intensity.....and he's up next, so he turns and heads in the direction of the ring.....

.......which is when the KLiQ pounce.....clearly unhappy with Steiners actions last week....as well (you would assume) as Big Poppa Pumps insistence that once he's done with his brother, he's coming for Shawn Michaels and the WWF Championship, the pack of dogs beat the snot out of Steiner, bouncing his skull off the wall for good measure.....although to be fair Shawn Michaels doesn't do much of the dirty work, he's too busy directing traffic in the background.....he does put the final nail in a Steiners coffin however, laying him out with a Sweet Chin Music, before declaiming that Steiner should listen to Vince McMahon, and concentrate on the Intercontinental Championship....because the Heartbreak Kid and the WWF Title, are just out of his league.

Rating: A*

Quote:

VS.

You've got to admire the guts of Scott Steiner.....if not slightly question his brains.....The Big Bad Booty Daddy are only one brief commercial break removed from a vicious assault at the hands of the KLiQ, and yet here he is, slowly making his way down the aisle to square off with arguably one of the most dangerous men in the WWF, Kane.

Steiner may have been better served in sitting this one out considering his big title opportunity against Rich Steiner coming up in just six days.....that's just not the way Scott Steiner operates however, and he goes right for the Monster.....he does a good job out there holding his own against Kane, but he's clearly unsteady on his feet and feeling the affects of the beating.....and as if that wasn't enough, his night goes from bad to worse......

.....when Rich Steiner makes his way down the aisle......and with Jim Cornette holding the attention of the official, Rich picks up Scotty's lead pipe and nails his brother right in the back of his already punished head. Big Poppa Pump is out like a light.....but Kane being Kane, he still feels the need to destroy Steiner with a big Tombstone Piledriver, as Kane's path of destruction continues.

Winner: Kane
Rating: B+

Quote:

Happy to have punished someone, Kane heads to the back, leaving an unconscious Scott Steiner at the mercy of Big Brother Rich. The Intercontinental Champion still has the lead pipe in his grip and he stalks menacingly around the ring, waiting for Big Poppa Pump to get back to his feet. Scotty does eventually get back to a vertical base (with the help of the ring ropes), but Rich is waiting, wielding the pipe like a baseball bat as he drives it into his brothers mid-section, doubling him over.....before smashing it down on the upper back area of Scott Steiner's huge frame.

Big Poppa Pump has NOT had a good night, and Vince McMahon has got to have a big smile on his face in the back, knowing that he's at least partially to blame for Steiner's downfall tonight....while Jim Ross remarks that Scott Steiner will be hoping to have a better evening come Sunday Night if he plans on capturing his first "official" singles title here in the World Wrestling Federation.....the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

Rating: A

VS.

It's time for the main event of the evening.....and while Ahmed Johnson can now officially be classed as a main event player, the Sons of Samoa must be risking nose bleeds finding themselves so high on the card. It was a bit of a gamble putting this main event together, especially after last weeks disappointing main event between Michaels and Rich Steiner.....fortunately the face side of this contest really stepped their game up, which made for a surprisingly good......very good actually.....television main event.

If Johnson, Rikishi and Kokina could pick up the victory here tonight it would have sent them into Sunday night on a huge wave of momentum....unfortunately, defeating the KLiQ has always been easier said than done....especially when you take into account Sunny, Sean Waltman and Justin Credible on the outside sticking their noses in......not to mention the fact that Vince McMahon had decided to join the commentary table for the main event, to ensure that Steve Austin and Brian Pillman do not step one foot inside the arena this evening.

Unsurprisingly it was those outside factors that influenced the outcome of the match.....because after Shawn Michaels had spent the majority of the match on the apron directing traffic to Scott Hall and Kevin Nash (who's face must be hurting from wearing that fake smile daily)....Ahmed Johnson was able to make the hot Tag into the match and clear house on the KLiQ members......at least until Waltman and Credible were able to distract the attention of the official, long enough for Nash to nail Ahmed in the back of the skull with his WWF Tag Team Title. Michaels is quick to capitalise on Kevin Nash's hard work, shoving Big Sexy to one side so that he can make the cover.....and three seconds later, the KLiQ have the victory in the bag.

Winner(s): The KLiQ
Rating: B+

Quote:

The Sons of Samoa rush into the ring to try and break up the pin, but they're too late.....they are just in time however, for a big five on two beatdown courtesy of the KLiQ. Ahmed tries to fight back to his feet in order to help out his team mates....but the numbers game soon overwhelms him as well.....and it looks like things are going to be going from bad to worse for the KLiQ's In Your House title Challengers.....at least until the video screen at the top of the entrance ramp flickers into life......

........to reveal Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Loose Cannon Brian Pillman......actually we can only see Brian Pillman, as his face and wide crazy eyes take up most of the shot....but we can hear Austin in the background. The beat down comes to a halt as everyone turns to see what The former WWF Tag Team Champions are planning today......which is about the same time that Vince McMahon slams the headset down, picks up a microphone.....and screams that he gave explicit orders that neither Austin or Pillman were to step foot inside the arena.....and since they are violating a direct order again, then they leave him no choice but to declare that.....

".......Steve Austin.....Brian Pillman......you're fir.........

".........Woah, woah, woah.....not so fast........."

....Pillman's uniquely raspy voice cuts the Boss off, as the camera pans back to reveal the pairs location.....which appears to be the parking lot outside the arena. Pillman says that they followed McMahons orders to the letter.....they haven't put one foot INSIDE the arena.....although it's been tough convincing Steve Austin not to storm in there and whip everyone's ass.....in fact, I had to get him a little plaything to keep him amused.....although he seems to have gotten a little......carried away......

Pillman grabs the camera by the lens and turns it so that the shot lands on what appears to be a huge monster truck........which in turn is parked on top of a mangled police cruiser......with Stone Cold Steve Austin sat atop the whole thing.....beer in his hand, throwing out threats and insults to......well......no one.....there's no one else there......Austin just likes cursing out the world clearly....

Pillman grabs hold of the camera again, before asking Vince McMahon if that's his Limousine over there as he brings McMahons personal ride into shot. McMahon answers in the affirmative, just as Stone Cold tosses an empty beer can, climbs back inside the truck and starts it up. Pillman says he thought it was......and if that's the case, Vince probably isn't going to want to watch this......Pillman turns the camera back on himself, wincing as we hear the sound of a monster trucks engine roar.....followed by and almighty crunching sound as Brian shakes his head.....

"......you see, Steve......he gets kind of antsy when he's got nothing to do Vince.....and I can only keep him occupied for so long.....(Pillman gives another big wince as another crunching sound echoes behind him).....but as you can hear.....(CRUNCH).....he gets bored quickly.....you should probably reconsider that whole banned from the arenas rule......(CRUNCH......CRUNCH)......oh, that's not good.....I gotta go Vince.....think about it......"

With that the screen fades to black as McMahon screams at security and The KLiQ to get out to the parking lot and stop that maniac......The KLiQ are a little bit pre-occupied however.....because during all the commotion Ahmed Johnson, Rikishi and Kokina have regained their senses.....tossed Waltman and Credible from the ring.....and are currently dismantling Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.....eventually sending the Tag Champs flying, leaving Ahmed Johnson to hit the Pearl River Plunge on the Heartbreak Kid......and Vince McMahon has no choice but to look on at the sight of Ahmed Johnson and The Son's of Samoa standing in the centre of the ring.....each man holding high the respective title that they will be challenging for on Sunday Night as the show comes to a close.

The main news story this week was the arrival of the former Hunter Hearst Helmsley down south in WCW. Apparently he will be going by Jean Paul Levesque for now (since they can't exactly use either Hunter or Triple H).....whatever he's called he's obviously still the same d*ck to deal with there as he was here.....because he hadn't even made his on screen debut and he was already p*ssing people off in the back talking about the huge contract he signed....I'm just glad he's not my problem anymore......although he must be happy to finally get that Main Event push that he never warranted here.....guess that's. what happens when you move to the number two promotion Trips, suddenly you're a bigger deal than you deserve to be.

Hunters attitude wasn't the only headache they had down there this week.....Chris Adams turned up for Nitro so drunk they had to send him home......then told him to stay home, because he got his pink slip.

It looks like the Mega Powers have exploded again.....as Hulk Hogan spent the first half of the week turning half the locker room against Randy Savage.....while the Macho Man spent the second half of the week turning the other half against Hogan.....good luck controlling those ego's Bischoff......I bet Savage is regretting not signing for the good guys now a few months back when we tried to get his signature.

In more bad news they also had to put their B-Show "War Room" out to pasture....the contract was up for renewal and nobody would touch it with a ten foot pole due to the stigma still surrounding the company....not that it's too much of a loss, but it is just one more negative news item in a week riddled with them.

It wasn't all bad for WCW however......Stevie Ray called Marcus Bagwell a Fruit Booty......I don't know what a Fruit Booty is but the fans certainly liked it.....expect Stevie Ray to be using it a lot from here on in......that is all

OOC: Ok.....so I'm going to be running a Pay Per View prediction contest, starting with this months In Your House.....The Royal Rumble.....and February's In Your House.....with the winner choosing a new lower card Championship, as well as the inaugural Champion (who will probably be crowned at Wrestlemania) so feel free to get your picks in.

Oh and on a side note, since I don't really understand the mechanics of the game, has anyone got any idea why the game would suddenly decide that Bret Hart should be auto pushed at an Upper Midcard level? Not that it matters really, I'm still pushing him as a main eventer.....just seems a bit odd when he's more popular now than when I started the game (A's across the board) his momentum is positive, he's super happy and can still churn out A rated matches effortlessly? Just seems a bit odd if anyone could shed some light on that it would be appreciated.

If his popularity is relatively lower than a certain percentage of the roster he’ll be pushed to upper mid card
