Default Impact New York - Character, That's What Matters

Thanks to Kamchatka for the logos, all the wonderful people of the alt thread for the... alts, Self, Nevermore and Eisen-Verse for the great diaries and inspiration, and of course Adam Ryland for the game and - more importantly - the universe it inhabits.

As for this diary... I'll unveil the roster as the weeks go on, rather than all in one go. This will be set as if the promotion has just formed, and i will be avoiding any obstacles to me presenting the story as I wish it to be. This is effectively a diary played in god-mode, for the purposes of storytelling. But don't you worry - there'll be no Gino Montero, Tommy Cornell, or Sean McFly's. A* events will be somewhat unlikely.

There are no faces or heels here, only characters who you can like or dislike as you wish. Accordingly, if and when predictions are made (which will only be put up at PPVs due to my hatred of diary threads turning into "Hey let's all just predict and not actually give any feedback!"), I would like you to pick based on who you like and want to win, not who you think will win. All feedback, of course, is welcome. Positive or otherwise. I am also more than willing to discuss anything posted henceforth via PM if you wish to be in-depth.

As for my booking and by extension writing... I will heavily make use of politics, stereotypes, race, religion, and pretty much anything able of causing dispute. For instance, I will have black characters who actually acknowledge the fact that they are, indeed, black. Shocking, I know. If you're offended by anything, well, just remember that it's only writing.

TV Shows are up every Wednesday, though i'm tempted to put the first one up sooner (ie. now) to show you what to expect. I'll consider it.

I think i've said enough for a preamble by now. Enjoy the diary.

Travis Hoffman, Owner of Impact New York

Charismatic 'til the end, Travis Hoffman has a mind for the business as well as a mouth for it. Known for his love of big characters and high risk moves, expect plenty of spot monkeys with microphones when watching a promotion of his run a show. Despite the somewhat assorted plethora he offers, is still a solid and reliable booker as well as a colour commentator.

Sheer impatience has lead to me putting this up now. As such, all future INY Weekly's will be up on Saturdays from hereafter. Despite them taking place on a Wednesday in game. Frustratingly enough, I want to post the next few shows as well due to being so eager to show where everything goes, but i'll hold it in. Deep breaths. I'm calm...

Also, not too sure about the layout. Wondering if it needs a bit of colour here or there. Ah well, as long as it's readable.

Show 1, Week 1, January 2008

It's Wednesday.

It's the INY Arena.

It's...

Impact Weekly!

Jerry Eisen

"Hello fans and welcome, to the first ever edition of Impact Weekly!"

Travis Hoffman

"The first of many, undoubtedly!"

JE

"Tonight, we prepare to lay the groundwork for the first PPV, Revolution Begins, at the end of the month. We want to make sure everyone who can see the show has a reason to see the show, and as such INY management have been working hard to make sure they can give every single one a reason to watch."

TH

"Day and night I hear Jerry!"

JE

"Starting tonight, and continuing over the coming weeks, we will have qualifying matches for both the INY World and INY Tag Team titles, with the winners of the qualifiers facing off in four-way matches at Revolution Begins. Also, next week we have been promised that an announcement will be made concerning a third title belt, but until then, we've got the title qualifiers to wet our appetites!"

TH

"Not only that, but as is the nature of any competitive sport, i'm sure that plenty of rivalries will be sparked in the coming weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of those come to an early head at Revolution Begins."

JE

"I'm sure you're right there Travis. Coming up first, a man who will be competing later tonight against Ray Diaz in a INY World Title qualifier has told us he wishes to come to the ring to start the show with a few words. He's earnt a lot of respect over the years, so we felt no need to stop him. That man, is Whistler!"

Right on cue, Whistler strides down to the ring, flagpole over his shoulder, and as soon as he's through the ropes he's swinging it from side to side, showcasing 'Old Glory'. He takes a microphone from the ring announcer, and begins to speak.

Whistler

"Good evening New York! If there's any city that represents the American dream, and follows it so faithfully, it's New York! I know that each and every one of you fans here tonight is with me on this, and so tonight on this very first Impact broadcast, let's cheer, let's sing, let's wear our hearts on our sleeves in the name of this beautiful country!"

"God bless America, and enjoy the show!"

Having said his piece, he climbs from the ring, and walks to the back...

JE

"Having had Whistler welcome us to the show, it's time for some action! Coming up, the first match in INY history, it's a showcase for two INY stars to show us what they're made of! It's Matt Sparrow up against Primal Rage!"

Quote:
Matt Sparrow vs. Primal Rage

The match unfolds as the typical acrobat vs. powerhouse matches often do, with plenty of back-and-forth action to prevent the crowd from losing the buzz they've started the show with. In the end, Matt Sparrow comes away with the victory, becoming the first winner of an INY match ever.
TH

"The first ever INY match there, and that's the kind of non-stop action we expect to see from all our matches. Well done to Matt Sparrow on getting the win there."

JE

"I hear one of our competitors is waiting backstage with a thing or two on his mind that he wishes to express. We're all about letting people say what they feel here at INY, we've got a camera on him, so take it away Citizen X!"

Citizen X

"I won't give you some smarmy bullsh*t speech about how I love America, or how I love the fans, or how I love idiots with facepaint prancing around the place, completely ignoring the incessant corporate influence that they're consistently helping by continuing their ridiculous antics!"

"And you may think, 'Hey X, surely you're just helping that too by being here, working here, fighting here'. If i was in your position i'd be saying the same damn thing, don't think otherwise, but me being here does far more good than it does harm!"

"By being here, I get a platform. And sure, I have to fight for the entertainment of a few suits to do so, but it's sure as hell worth it so I get this camera, I get this airtime, I get this attention! And you know what? In that ring, I get to beat the sh*t out of exactly the kinds of people who i'm against, and so for me that's a bonus! I get to assault the corporate whores, the ignorant upper class, the naive patriots! I get to fight for what I believe in, I get to fight for what's right! Does that make me a sell-out? F*ck no! That makes me a martyr!

"I! AM! ANARCHY! And I am intent on proving that to anyone who feels otherwise! You've been listening to Citizen X, the revolution starts now!"

Quote:
Eastern Explosion (Chuichi Sanda & Kinji Akamatsu) vs. The Chaos Demons (Chaos Demon #1 & Chaos Demon #2)

It's the first of the INY Tag Team Titles qualifiers, and from the very start Eastern Explosion are outmatched. Despite the intensity of Chuichi Sanda and Kinji Akamatsu, the inexperience of the latter shows gravely as the Chaos Demons simply overpower their way to victory.

Crime Wave come down to the ring, looking c*cky as ever despite both of them being relatively small (especially compared to the winners of the last match). Switchblade, cigarette in hand, looks to be the one doing the talking in his surreal Aussie-yet-street accent, with D.O.A. spending more time standing around than actually contributing anything.

Switchblade

"Look mates, I ain't got no beef with any of you lot right, but some mans, especially the backstage mandems, just gotta be told a'ight? I'm just proper fed up of some other crew coming out here, bigging themselves up, getting all the respect and that, before we've even said our piece yeah? And..."

He's cut off by a high pitched scream, before a thumping bassline and rap track starts blaring out of the Arena PA system.

Standing at the top of the entrance way are Trauma, Java and Sayeed, arms crossed above their heads, before they head towards the ring. Crime Wave, their once bravado demeanour having completely left them, are in a state of panic.

The three men hit the ring, as D.O.A. and Switchblade are frozen in place. It's only a matter of seconds before they're clubbed to the ground, the defeaning music still blaring out accompanied by Sayeed shouting along with the lyrics as Trauma and Java, freshly armed with chairs 'borrowed' from the front row, continue their beat down of the would-be thugs. Trauma and Java now haul D.O.A. to his feet, as Sayeed is searching underneath the ring for something.

He returns through the ropes, with a guitar in his hands. He measures up the barely-concious D.O.A... and smashes the guitar over his head, the instrument exploding in a burst of woodchips and dust. Sayeed hastily snatches a microphone.

Sayeed

"We are the Kings of New York, and this is our house!"

They slowly make their way to the back, having accomplished making an impression on the fans, the locker room, and most certainly the unconcious Crime Wave.

Backstage, Elijah Harris watches what just unfolded. He sighs...

Elsewhere, Whistler is warming up for his match - and Matt Sparrow walks in, having recovered from his.

Whistler

"Good job on the win kid, Uncle Sam'll be proud of ya! God's on our side in this life!"

Sparrow

"Er, thanks, Whistler... Look, I kinda came here to talk to you about that in fact. Don't you think you maybe overdo it a bit? It's always 'America this', or 'God that', and hey, i'm not disrespecting you as a proud and faithful man, but don't you see how maybe it alienates others?"

Whistler

"Alienates!? Listen, I am a man of family, a man of the flag, and a man of my country. I fought for it, and with god as my witness i'll die for it. It's punks like you who need to learn respect!"

"Don't you dare come in here, telling me that! Who am I going to 'alienate' son, those dirty Mexicans? Some stinkin' A-rabs? I've only got time for America boy, and America don't get alienated! Now get out!"

Sparrow is somewhat taken aback at this angry response, but swiftly takes his advice and leaves. Whistler sits and watches him, snarl on his face, and shakes his head.

Whistler

"Worse than the damned 60's..."

JE

"It's time for our main event! The winner of this match will go on to compete in the INY World Title match at Revolution Begins, and with a shot at the gold at stake, i'm sure our competitors will be willing to fight tooth and nail for the win! So here we go: 'All-American' Whistler up against 'The Monster', Ray Diaz!"

Quote:
Whistler vs. Ray Diaz

We get our first extended competitive match as Whistler and Diaz push each other to the limit for 16 minutes, with the veteran showing he's still got it even at 46 by surprising frequent gaijin Diaz with some hard hitting moves throughout the match. Eventually he lands yet another, and it's too much for Diaz to take, giving the aging patriot a shot at the title.
JE

"Whistler gets a chance to claim the INY World Title at Revolution Begins! I've been Jerry Eisen alongside Travis Hoffman, thank you and goodnight!"

Wow, I actually made it all week...

Show 2, Week 2, January 2008

It's Wednesday.

It's the INY Arena.

It's...

Impact Weekly!

Jerry Eisen

"Hello fans and welcome, to Impact Weekly!"

Travis Hoffman

"I'm Travis Hoffman alongside Jerry Eisen, it's time for a show!"

JE

"And in fact, we're kicking off straight away! It's a INY Tag Team Titles qualifer, the winner of this match will be joining The Chaos Demons, who won last week, and two other teams in a four-way match for the INY Tag Team Titles at Revolution Begins! Let's get underway!"

Quote:
The Gilbert Brothers (Jesse Gilbert & Joe Gilbert) vs. Crime Wave (D.O.A. & Switchblade

Much like last week, it's Crime Wave taking a beating as the hockey lovers from Canada tear right through them. In what was perhaps overkill, halfway through the match...

Little Bill Gilbert ran in and took D.O.A. out with a chair shot behind referee Michael Bull's back, making the finish academic as Switchblade gave up the fall.
They aren't finished yet though. Jesse and Joe signal to Little Bill, who promptly hops under the ring, returning to hand them...

Two hockey sticks! Switchblade staggers to his feet just at the wrong time, as he gets sandwiched by the sticks! Little Bill hops into the ring and adds insult to injury, placing a puck in Switchblade's drooling mouth. The Gilberts then head to the back, triumphant.

They cross paths with Bart Biggz at the entrance way, though neither pay much attention to each other. Biggz doesn't spare much time for theatrics, instead making short work of getting to the ring and grabbing a microphone.

Biggz

"When we started off, we were the new kids in town. We were the cool ones, the quick movers, the... exciting new team. And everything looked great! And me and Brett, things couldn't have been better."

"But as his star rose... mine lagged behind. All of a sudden, Brett was the cool one, the quick mover, the exciting new guy. I was the dull one, I was old news! Everyone cared about Brett, what Brett did, what he was going to do when he'd cut off the dead weight that was HIS BROTHER!"

"And Brett didn't defend me. He just made the noises that they wanted to hear, because he wanted them instead of me. He wanted that fame and glory for himself, not for me! Not for the family! But for himself."

"But I clung on anyway, I held on as much as i could... and then we were both boring! Neither of us were cool, or quick, or exciting! Brett didn't realise that things just changed like that, he blamed me! He thought I held him down too long! He thought that i was nothing compared to a star like him!"

"WELL NOT ANYMORE BRETT! I'm here in New York, where are you? Stuck in some sh*tty rehab centre, trying to fix what you ruined! Couldn't take the star's life could you Brett? You may have cast your shadow over me, but the shadow cast over you by the people more deserving was far larger! Too much for you to overcome!"

"And guess what Brett? I'm improving! I'm getting better! I'm going to cast off your shadow! I'm going to be THE Biggz, you'll be an afterthought! The answer to a trivia question! "Who was the lesser known Biggz brother?" It's you Brett! It's going to be you!"

He drops the microphone to the floor, rolls out of the ring, and heads to the back. His frustrations vented, for now.

JE

"Bart Biggz saying his piece there, and he'll be competing for a chance at the INY World Title in a qualifier later tonight."

TH

"And some solo gold round his waist would certainly be a step to proving himself as 'the better Biggz'."

JE

"Talking of proving yourself, two INY stars will be looking to do just that, coming right up! Jim Force vs. Ash Campbell!"

Quote:
Jim Force vs. Ash Campbell

This is a very different Jim Force to what we're used to seeing. Gone are the exaggerated mannerisms, the wild-eyed stare, and most noticably, the face paint. This is a far more serious, far more effective Jim Force. And it's a Jim Force than picks up the win, steamrolling through the son of Nemesis.

Not long after the bell has rung, Honest Frank steps out of the entrance area.

Honest Frank

"Jim, Jim, Jim! What are you doing!? Where's the old Jim? Where's the rope-shaking, crowd-exciting, feeler of the FOOOOOR..."

Jim Force

"Forget it Frank, i'm not that guy anymore. I'm Kevin Jefferson! The only reason I even use the Force name is because i've been associated with it for so long! INY gave me somewhere to come to, to showcase my wrestling skills for what they are - not to cover me in paint and get me to scream inane slogans!"

Frank

"But Jim! That was part of you, and it was a succesful part too! Hell, I nearly started up a church for you! Just think, think how much attention that got you, how much attention that could get INY! And if you're not getting that attention for INY, then you're taking it away. Taking that spotlight away from the people who deserve it here. People, to be frank - and i am Frank! - like me."

Force

"People like you? People like you who want me to sell myself out as a cash cow! People who want me to run around screaming the same ridiculous slogans! Well you know what? I don't want to 'FEEL THE FOOOOOOOORCE!' anymore! I don't want to be known for that, loved for that... I want to be known and loved for who I am!"

Frank

"Loved? Jesus Jim, no need to go all heartfelt on me! We're talking about money here. Money which could be going my way!"

Force

"I'm more than happy to stop it going your way Frank. Meet me in the ring at Revolution Begins, and i'll make sure the winner's purse is more than worth the effort - money that I can earn as Kevin Jefferson. I'll prove it doesn't take any amount of Forechlorians to make money, for me or for suits like you!"

Frank

"You're on Jim, may the best man win. And to be frank - and i am Frank! - that man will be me."

TH

"Looks like we've got our first grudge match for Revolution Begins!"

JE

"And just as promised last week, we've also got an announcement regarding a third title. If you'll excuse me..."

Jerry Eisen awkwardly clambers into the ring, clearly unaccumstomed to even going through the ropes. He eventually steadies himself, and clears his throat...

Jerry Eisen

"Ladies and gentlemen! For those of you watching last week, you might remember that I mentioned an announcement would be made this week. Well, it's now time for that, though i'll need some help... Please welcome, the 'Arizona Assassin' and a true 'Hardcore Legend', Genghis Rahn!"

Rahn makes his way down to the ring, a deadly serious stare on his face, as per usual.

Eisen

"...And a fellow 'Hardcore Legend', the 'Icon of Insanity', Henry Lee!"

Lee appears, as expected, at the entrance way. Before he can soak in any atmosphere however, Rahn snatches the microphone from Jerry Eisen, and stares at Lee.

Genghis Rahn

"Stop right there!"

He turns back to Eisen.

Rahn

"You! You told me I was a 'Hardcore Legend', and you were damned right, but him? His legacy pales in significance to mine! My title reigns, my blood spilled, my body broken! I have done it all, and all with more vigour and intensity than he could ever dream of! If he thinks hanging around with some idiots in a bingo hall, or working for some crazy old bastard off of Japanese game shows makes him any kind of legend, then he's sadly mistaken! I am the legend of this ring, of this building, of this city! And i'll fight anyone, anytime, anywhere to prove it!"

Henry Lee

"Then fight me."

Rahn goes to dive out of the ring and rush up the ramp, but Lee speaks again, grin on his face, before he gets too far.

Lee

"Whoa, Genghis, I'd gladly tear down the house with you right now, but don't you want to let Jerry finish first?"

Jerry nods in appreciation, as Genghis aggressively thrusts the microphone into Jerry's hand and bellows for him to talk. Eisen, clearly somewhat intimidated, takes a moment to remember where he was...

Eisen

"Well, you two aren't too far from what I was going to say in fact. Both of you have unquestionable reputations, but such is the nature of this sport that one of you must be better than the other. Well, at Revolution Begins, we'll find out! And not only pride will be on the line, but so will the INY Warzone Title! Now usually, the Warzone champion will get to decide the stipulation, but the matchmaking committee have taken the liberty of deciding for you both. You've built your reputations on getting up every time you've been knocked down, but that will be put to the test! In just a few weeks, at Revolution Begins, you will face off in a Last Man Standing match!"

Genghis nods, and snatches the microphone back.

Rahn

"Lee, that's gonna be a hell of a war. I'll give you some time to enjoy walking - you won't be able to after we meet in this ring. I'll see you soon."

A suprisingly docile response from Rahn, who heads out of the ring, and amazingly right past Lee without striking out at him. Eisen heads back to the announcers table, and business as usual resumes, just in time for the main event.

Quote:
Bart Biggz vs. Sgt. Bubba Lee West

The Sgt. is one of the toughest challenges that Biggz has ever faced in his career, with West shouting and screaming at him to "get up, maggot" at the slightest setback, which contributes to both a pyschological impact as well as tinnitus. Many times it looks as if the militarist will pick up the win, but Biggz keeps fighting back - at one point even exclaiming "Brett wouldn't have kicked out of that!". This seems enough to spur him on, and it eventually proves to be decisive as he picks up the win.
JE

"Whistler and Bart Biggz are in the INY World Title match, who else will make it in? Find out another, next time on Impact Weekly!"

And the beat goes on, and the beat goes on, and the beat goes on...

Show 3, Week 3, January 2008

It's Wednesday.

It's the INY Arena.

It's...

Impact Weekly!

Jerry Eisen

"Hello fans and welcome, to Impact Weekly!"

Travis Hoffman

"I'm Travis Hoffman alongside Jerry Eisen, it's time for a show!"

JE

"And what a show is lined up tonight! In our main event, we'll see the 3rd INY World Title qualifier as Travis Century takes on Frankie Perez. That match will be for a spot in the INY World Title match at Revolution Begins alongside Whistler, Bart Biggz and one more as-yet undetermined opponent."

"But before they face off tonight, both men have asked for the time to introduce themselves to our audience. And to open the show, it'll be Travis Century!"

Out he walks, eyes wide and arms aloft, solidifying himself as the centre of attention in the INY Arena. He strides to the ring, not shifting from his rigid pose, transfixed by the moment. He finally averts his gaze to enter the ring, at which point he takes in the view of the fans on all 4 sides. He stops, stares, and after what seems like an eternity, finally begins to speak.

Travis Century

"Welcome, my flock, to salvationnnnnnnn!"

He pushes his fist out in front of himself to emphasise his point, and the gestures don't stop here. Throughout his speech, his arms and indeed entire frame will gesticulate wildly.

Century

"I shall guide you, one and all, to a better way! The way, the route, the path of Jeeeesussssss! Oh my lord i shall! The righteous knowledge i shall convey unto you all! Can i get an amen!"

Alas, no amen is forthcoming.

Century

"With the lorddddd as my witness, I shall take his faithful crusade into my own hands! I shall fight the good fight! I shall strike down the sinners in the name of Jeeeeeesussssss!"

He coughs, then spins in a wild arc.

Century

"But I am no crazed preacher! Do not believe the lies you shall be told about that, for I have complete and clear clarity of mind! I shall save your souls, but it is no thankless task. You shall be thankful, you shall be grateful, you shall hold me in great charity, for if you do not, with the lorddddd as my witness, I shall strike you down where you stand! This Century has no time for sinners!"

He throws his hands into the air again, before heading backstage.

Quote:
Free Love vs. Danny Patterson & Primal Rage

The thrown together combination of Danny Patterson and Primal Rage makes their status apparent from the start, as they just fail to understand the ins-and-outs of each others gameplan anywhere near enough as a well-versed team. Despite the laid-back appearance and mannerisms, James Prudence and Fuzzy Freeman do, and that gets them a spot in the INY Tag Team Titles match at Revolution Begins.

We cut to backstage, where the Kings of New York are standing ensemble in front of a large INY-branded backdrop of the city skyline. From the start, it's been apparent that Sayeed is the spokesperson, if not ringleader, of the group.

Sayeed

"A few weeks ago, we said that this here city was our house. We ain't trippin' when we say that, that's cold hard fact, straight-up truth. And we ain't gonna back down from that, we gonna step up to every single task that's in front of us. 'Cause we may be the Kings of New York, but we put it the dirty work too, ya hear?"

No sooner has he finished, than the whole stable has been jumped, bludgeoned from behind by a steel chair and crowbar. The camera pans up from the victims...

And over their bodies stand Hardcore Killah, Slim V and Carl Batch. Thug Life have hit INY. Batch doesn't waste any time in getting up close to the camera and starting one of his typical motormouthed hustles.

Carl Batch

"Listen up suckas, one and all! These here fools thought they could march in here, wave their dicks around and tell us how we were all part of their house! Well f*ck that! Ain't nobody telling Carl Batch, ain't nobody telling Slim V, ain't nobody telling the straight-up badass Hardcore Killah that we don't run this place, 'cause they gonna get a beatdown, sucka! We gonna choke you out quicker than Nicole Brown! I don't care whether you ma brother or white folk, we jump on you quicker than pigs on Rodney King! And that's a f*ckin' pledge, see yo' ass later New York!"

Having said what he wanted to, Batch shoves the camera out of the way as he and his charges head off.

Not far away, but going in the other direction towards the entrance ramp, is Elijah Harris. He shakes his head...

Quote:
Elijah Harris vs. Chuichi Sanda

Despite the intensity, the hard work, the reputation of the man he's against, Elijah Harris clearly has something on his mind here and as such, he makes relatively short work of Sanda considering the calibre of opponent. He gets the pinfall in just over 6 minutes, an impressive performance.

Backstage, Aristocrat stands in his locker room, which could be better described as looking like a 5-star hotel suite, in front of a full-length mirror, glass of brandy being swilled in his right hand, as he adjusts his tie with his left. He takes a swig of his chosen tipple and exhales deeply.

Aristocrat

"It's the small pleasures in life that count."

His relaxation doesn't last long, as his door bursts open to reveal...

An already exasperated Citizen X, who is unlikely to be here for tea and a sit down.

Citizen X

"This! You stand here, living like a king in your over-pampered, over-priced, over-priveliged dressing room, whilst millions starve! Do you have no remorse? No guilt? Not even pity for these poor people? They want far more than your pity, and before i'm done they're going to get it, but the least you could do is feign compassion! I'm not even sure which is worse - b*llsh*tting that you do care, or taking pride in that you don't!"

Somewhat taken aback by the interruption, Aristocrat doesn't have time to compose himself.

Aristocrat

"You barge in here and regale me with stories of the great suffering? People like you are the problem! All you can find the time to do is acquiese and moan about these tales of supposed hardship, rather than working to better your situation, to better yourself! I feel no guilt nor should i have any need to! I am in my world, I am happy where I am, so i bare no concern for the likes of you!"

The furious Citizen doesn't hesitate - he aims a punch straight at his jaw, and seconds later Aristocrat is on the floor, caught flush by the instinctive shot.

Citizen X

"Violence is not the answer, it is a question. The answer is yes! I know with people like you some kind of monetary promise is needed to get you to take part, and as such, i'll see you at Revolution Begins. We can have all the attention in the world, and they will all bare witness to me showing you that not only do i have the moral highground, but the physical as well!"

Somewhere else in the building stands Frankie Perez, in a darkened room. No glitzy dressing room or showy backdrop here, just a man and his thoughts. And a camera crew.

Frankie Perez

"Many of you would be misTAKEN!"

He stops abruptly after bellowing out of the end of the word, seemingly unintentionally. He closes his eyes, mutters something to himself, then carries on.

Perez

"You would be mis... mistaken, To think of me as a nobody. I may have done my wo....wor... work on the west coast, but i have done enough to earn a shot here on the east coast. And that chance takes me toNIGHT!"

He cringes this time, pounding his fist against his head. He's a troubled man.

Perez

"Tonight, i get to compete for a spot in the INY World Title match! And it is a chance that i will not..."

He trails off, as his eyes glaze over. This time, it doesn't look like he'll be finishing his sentence. Suddenly, he lurches forward, grabs the camera with both hands and begins to scream into it.

Perez

"KILL SWITCH IS HERE! VIOLENCE AHEAD! KILL SWITCH IS HERE!"

He pushes the camera away, and both the cameraman and sound guy quickly rush out of the room. Perez isn't far behind though, charging after them down the hallway. Eventually he takes a different turning though, and he's out on the entrance ramp. Just in time.

Quote:
Frankie Perez vs. Travis Century

Perez is an absolute machine in this match, battering Century with stiff chops and kicks that make every fan in attendance wince. It seems like there's no way back for Travis, but he keeps on fighting nonetheless. Eventually Perez makes a mistake, Century ducking a kick on the outside which subsequently slams into the ring post. Following this, Perez can barely walk, and Century picks up the win with relative ease thereafter.
JE

"Travis Century joins Whistler and Bart Biggz in the INY World Title match at Revolution Begins! Elijah Harris and Stevie Grayson will compete for the final spot next week, see you then! Thank you and goodnight!"

Ooooh, nearly a whole month gone. That's staying power that. Have I jinxed it now?

Show 4, Week 4, January 2008

It's Wednesday.

It's the INY Arena.

It's...

Impact Weekly!

Jerry Eisen

"Hello fans and welcome, to Impact Weekly!"

Travis Hoffman

"I'm Travis Hoffman alongside Jerry Eisen, it's time for a show!"

JE

"It's the run-in to Revolution Begins, and there's plenty of action lined up before saturday's showcase! We've still to decide the final competitors for the INY World and INY Tag Team title matches, and all the glory that the gold entails."

TH

"And we'll be finding out one of those right away - it's time for Thug Life to face Damned Youth for that final Tag Team Titles match spot."

Quote:
Thug Life (Slim V & Hardcore Killah) vs. Damned Youth (Filth Sylvain & Clash Rotten)

In a typically wrestling 'battle of the stereotypes', it's rap vs. punk. As is also typically wrestling, it's the genre featuring guitars that gets the victory, as Damned Youth get the pinfall win.
JE

"So, we now know the four teams from which one shall come out of saturday night with the INY Tag Team titles. It'll be The Chaos Demons vs. The Gilbert Brothers vs. Free Love vs. Damned Youth, at Revolution Begins."

Just as Damned Youth head through the curtain, with Thug Life just getting to their feet in the ring, a high-pitched scream echoes out across the arena...

And the bassline kicks in, as Trauma, Java, and a heavily bandanged Sayeed stand at the top of the ramp making their now trademark arms-crossed-over-head gesture. They hit the ring, as Thug Life do their best to prepare for another battle.

Journey with me, into the mind of a maniac...

They collide, fists fly, but Thug Life can't sustain two fights in such quick succession and soon succumb to defeat.

Barrel one, tears your motherf*cking flesh, barrel two, tears your f*cking heart out your chest...

The Kings of New York aren't done yet though, as Trauma and Java drag Slim V to his feet, and despite his apparent injuries, Sayeed goes under the ring...

Returning through the ropes with a guitar, he raises it above his head...

'Cause i'm a Natural Born Killa!

And slams it down in an explosion of woodchips over Slim V's head. He then snatches a microphone from the clearly intimidated ring announcer, music still blaring out, he simply shouts over the top of it...

Sayeed

"Listen the f*ck up! We got jumped by these b*ullsh*t wanna be gangstas and their loudmouthed sh*t-talking manager. I see the Carl ain't at ringside, but i don't need to look at his little f*cking bitch-ass face to tell him this... You may have taken me out last week, but i'm still standing here! I ain't fighting, but my two boys here are happy to, so that's exactly what they're gonna f*cking do on saturday! Java and Trauma up against Thug Life at Revolution Begins, and we gonna make it perfectly f*cking clear that this is our turf, and we ain't gonna take no bullsh*t about it!"

We cut backstage, and it's the all too familiar sight of Elijah Harris, shaking his head...

Quote:
Ash Campbell vs. Citizen X

Whereas it was calmness and a logical approach that lead to Jim Force defeating Ash Campbell, this time it was the beserker-like furious onslaught of Citizen X that got the victory.

Genghis Rahn stands in front of a camera backstage, grimace on his face and a mad stare in his eyes. The staticness of the shot is more than enough of a hint that any cameraman feels much safer outside of the room - this is just Genghis and a tripod.

[center]Genghis Rahn

"Hardcore Legend. That's what i am. And there may be some pretenders to that throne, but I am here to stay! No imitations shall ever come close to what i have been, what i am, and what i forever will be! All you need to do is look through my career. The tables that i've broken - and that have broken me. The fire that has burnt me - and burns within me. The blood that pours down my head - and through my veins. Nobody has given as much as me! I put every effort into getting where i am, and nobody shall come close! And Henry Lee, who's taken a few shots in some bingo hall all of a sudden thinks he's on my level... Well listen here Henry, I've bled in all the bingo halls you have, and then i've got up and dragged my ass over to stadiums in Japan, been in exploding rings and wrapped in barbed wire, and then i've dragged my ass over to cage matches in Russia, and had my face grated against the steel... And then i've dragged my ass here! And i'm still going, still living, still fighting! I am all that hardcore is! You don't even come close, and nor should you! I will be at the top until I can fight no more, and then that will be it. No more hardcore, because once I go it all goes. And i will not stand pricks like you destroying my legacy! I'll retire you at Revolution Begins, and just etch another name onto the gravestone of imitators. You weren't the first, and i'm sure you won't be the last, but you all go the same way. The same thing always, always happens. I defeat you, and I carry on fighting. Always have, always will."

Elsewhere, Henry Lee is in a similar set-up. He's far more welcoming of the INY staff though, and is even having a joke with the audio tech before he's told he's on.

Henry Lee

"Hardcore Legend. That's what they call me. And i'll be damned if it doesn't flatter me... But everything i've done, i don't see it as legendary. I just do what i can in this sport, because I love it. I love the rush, the thrill, the joy of competition. And one of the big benefits is that people love me for that, and i'll never be able to truly express how grateful i am for that. And I know, i can be a bit too modest sometimes, but whilst I don't think of myself as a hero of any sorts..."

His tone suddenly changes...

Lee

"I do take severe offence to the likes of Genghis Rahn telling me i've done nothing of note! He of all people should know the pain, the agony, the suffering that both he and i have been through! But he won't accept that we're on the same page. He's convinced that he's the only one of note! And i don't know whether he genuinely believes that, or if he's just afraid. Afraid of someone taking away his mantle. And i may not be certain, but i've got a hunch that it's the latter. And as such... I know just what i'm going to do. Win or Lose, at Revolution Begins i'm going to use my body, and everything i can grab, as a weapon. And i'm going to throw myself of the highest structures, hit him with the hardest shots, and take the most spectacular falls that everyone watching will sit up in unison, and say one thing - 'I want to do that'. And i'm going to make sure that I inspire an entire generation of hardcore fighters! I'm going to get so many people taking up this artform that he can't dream of fighting them off! And i'm going to make sure that every single one gets a very special title. Every single one, will be called 'Hardcore Legend'."

Somewhere else in the building, we see Bart Biggz watching a monitor of tonight's action.

Ash Campbell, still in his ring gear and tired from his match, walks past the open door - and Biggz is quick to talk to him.

Bart Biggz

"Ash! Hey, Ash!"

Campbell stops, seemingly glad of the rest if nothing else.

Biggz

"Bad luck on the loss, I like your style and I think you'll go far. Y'know, we're not too different Ash. We're both constantly in the shadow of someone else, and i feel that's completely undeservedly. I'm going to prove i'm the better Biggz, and..."

Interrupting, though not with the intention of rudeness...

Ash Campbell

"And i'm the better Campbell! So far, it's been nothing but bad luck, or he's got connections and is holding me down! Yeah, that's it! Hey dad, i know you're listening to this! Well... Screw you!"

He stares at the ceiling for a little while, then runs out of the room, his lack of energy having practically dissapeared. Biggz shakes his head, expecting a somewhat more mature character, and goes back to watching the monitor. And on it...

Flickers an image of Stevie Grayson, decked from head to toe in personalised merchandise. Already you can tell he's a modest character.

Stevie Grayson

"Hi, i'm Stevie Grayson and this is the 'Grayson Face-On' public service announcement! Do you want official Stevie Grayson temporary tattoos on your face? Well right now Stevie Grayson says they're all yours for just $59.99!"

He walks over to a garish selection of outfits...

Grayson

"And don't forget, the Stevie Grayson range of official Stevie Grayson shell-suits is still avaliable now! All officially by Stevie Grayson! Remember, if it's not Grayson, it's not worth it!"

Quote:
Stevie Grayson vs. Elijah Harris

'The Human Merchandise Machine' hits the ring in one of the aforementioned shell-suits, making a point of waving the price-tag in the face of as many fans as he can on the way. Elijah Harris shakes his head on the way down, Grayson oblivious as he tries to sell his 'Officially by Stevie Grayson official range of Stevie Grayson zebra stickers' to the referee, but as soon as the bell rings Grayson is all business - or to use a better choice of words, is all about the action. This approach clearly catches Harris off-guard, and despite a few attempted comebacks it's all Grayson from start to finish.
JE

"The INY World Title match has been decided! Revolution Begins will see Whistler vs. Bart Biggz vs. Stevie Grayson vs. Travis Century go at it for the gold! See you on saturday!"

Ta-da, my first ever written-out PPV. 12 Segments of fun, enjoy...

It's Saturday.

It's the INY Arena.

It's...

Revolution Begins!

Jerry Eisen

"Hello fans and welcome to the first ever pay-per-view event of INY, it's Revolution Begins!"

Travis Hoffman

"Tonight we've got a stacked card waiting to go down!"

JE

"We've got the four-way for the INY World Title in the main event! Bart Biggz, Stevie Grayson, Travis Century and Whistler will all face off for the gold!"

TH

"And not only that, we'll have Genghis Rahn going toe-to-toe with Henry Lee for the INY Warzone Title in a Last Man Standing match!"

JE

"That's not all! We'll also witness four teams go at it for the INY Tag Team Titles, as well as a few unresolved grudge matches to see! And we'll kick off with one of those, it's Honest Frank vs. Jim Force!"

Quote:
Honest Frank vs. Jim Force

The announcers are unsure whether to refer to Jim Force as just that or Kevin Jefferson, with him apparently showing an eagerness to go by his given name backstage. What they aren't unsure of is his absolute calm and logical dominance of Frank, who is clearly outmatched from the moment the bell rings. And it's not long before it chimes again, Jim picking up a decisive win.
Jim, rather than celebrate, grabs the nearest microphone.

Jim Force

"It's gone now! It's all gone! No more mannerisms, no more facepaint, no more ridiculous character! I'm all me, and I am Kevin Jefferson!"

Cementing his new status as a man of few words, he throws down the microphone and heads to the back, victorious.

JE

"Up next we have have what should prove to be a truly hard-fought match, as Thug Life meet Java and Trauma of the Kings of New York. The Kings are after revenge for the attack on them by Thug Life just a few weeks ago, an attack that left their figurehead Sayeed injured. I have it on good word that Sayeed is in the building tonight, but in his state it's unlikely he'll play any part in this match. Coming up right now, it's Thug Life vs. The Kings of New York!"

Quote:
Thug Life (Slim V & Hardcore Killah w/Carl Batch) vs. The Kings of New York (Java & Trauma)

w/

From the start it's clear that The Kings are desperate to take out their revenge, but their blind ferocity in doing so leaves them open to a number of easy counters, which Thug Life are all too eager in taking advantage of. The agression has a payoff of it's own though, as Referee Michael Bull eventually becomes unable to keep The Kings in check and all hell breaks lose, the match going to the outside. Bull's attention is taken up with trying to get some order, and as such he misses Carl Batch making a rare foray into action with a punch to Java, which sends the big Indonesian down like a sack of potatoes. On further inspection, it turns out Batch was brandishing brass knuckles rather than being the next Mike Tyson, and it doesn't take long for this to prove vital as Hardcore Killah picks up the three count on a near-comatose Java.

Backstage, we see a heavily bandaged and bruised Sayeed watching a monitor in clear frustration at what just happened. He mutters something to himself, and soon after...

In walks Elijah Harris, concerned look on his face.

Elijah Harris

"Hey, Leroy..."

Sayeed snaps back at him, evidently not keen on his former name.

Sayeed

"Don't call me that, bitch!"

Elijah sighs, and starts again.

Harris

"Sayeed... why is it you persist with all this 'gangsta' stuff? You're a strong, smart, black man - you don't need to adhere to stereotypes the way you do, all it does it isolate us as a race and degrades our culture! It hurts me to see you out there, declaring your 'turf' and espousing sportsmanship and athletic competition for pure violence. Can't you turn yourself around? Be true to who you are!"

Sayeed looks at the floor for a minute, as Elijah rests a supportive hand on his shoulder. Sayeed doesn't wait long in brushing it off though, and giving Harris a cold stare.

Sayeed

"F*ck you Uncle Tom, I am who I am!"

Even in his injured state, he storms out in double time. The camera pans round to see...

None other than Carl Batch standing next to him.

Carl Batch

"Leave him be, it ain't the old days anymore Elijah. He's doing what you do to earn a cut in life now!"

He dissapears as soon as he entered, leaving Harris alone to stand and shake his head.

Quote:
Aristocrat vs. Citizen X

It's rich vs. poor, as the man given the best training money can buy (and the attitude to go along with that) takes on the self-taught crusading anarchist of the INY Arena. Both get their chances to show off their abilities, but it's not long before Aristocrat is shown to have picked up not quite everything he was taught, the constant bombardment of Citizen X being too much to take to avoid a pinfall loss. This time at least, the Anarchist wins.
A heavy-breathing Citizen X isn't too out of steam to deliver another high-powered rant though...

Citizen X

"This isn't the end, not by a long shot! This pompous excuse for a decent human being is the first of many on my list! No name is too big, no odds too long for me to take on those who offer such blatant support to the establishment! This ring is the platform i need to showcase my beliefs, my ideas, my realisations for society! And this platform is mine to keep! You've been listening to Citizen X, the revolution starts now!"

TH

"Strong words as ever there by Citizen X, any ideas as to who his next target will be?"

JE

"I'm sure he could find a reason to hate anyone, your guess is as good as mine! Up next, we have our first title match of the evening! All three will be decided in the coming few matches, but the first will be the INY Tag Team Titles! It'll be a four-way elimination tag match for the belts, and i have a feeling it's going to a real scramble!"

Quote:
The Chaos Demons vs. Damned Youth vs. Free Love vs. The Gilbert Brothers

Jerry Eisen wasn't lying when he called it a scramble, as it's a few minutes before we've got just two men in the ring as up until then it's a free-for-all brawl. Things eventually settle down, with Chaos Demon #1 staring down Fuzzy Freeman, who vainly throws himself at the Demon. He's caught, and thrown back down to the ground. One big splash later, and Fuzzy is practically suffocated under the weight for a three count.

Elimination #1: Free Love

The Demon laughs, and beckons towards the two other teams waiting on the ring apron. The four, understandably worried, men stare at each other - then they all vault in, and use sheer numbers to assault the Demon. Chaos Demon #2 clambers in to help, but as strong as they may be they can't take on this many people. Eventually The Gilbert Brothers get back onto the apron, and it's Clash Rotten who's the legal man against a severly weakened Demon #2. He hits a huge Flying Leg Drop off the top rope, but as he's getting to his feet...

Little Bill Gilbert swings a hockey stick through the ropes, absolutely clattering Rotten and inexplicably missed by Michael Bull. The Demon shakes off the cobwebs and climbs on top of him for the inevitable pinfall.

Elimination #2: Damned Youth

Before he's even on his feet though, both Gilberts are in and laying in every punch and kick they can. On the outside, Little Bill manages to snap a stick over Demon #1's back, leading to a rare cry of pain from the big man. He drops down and gives chase around the ring, but as he rounds a corner, Little Bill is waiting - and throws a hockey puck as hard as he can, hitting the Demon right between the eyes. Needless to say, he's more than stunned, and back inside the ring Demon #2, having fought most of the match himself, is overwhelmed by numbers.

Elimination #3: The Chaos Demons
JE

"The Gilbert Brothers are our first ever INY Tag Team Champions, but they needed a fair bit of help to get there!"

TH

"And that's an understatement, i can't see either Damned Youth or The Chaos Demons being happy with how that went down."

As The Gilbert Brothers head to the back, both Chaos Demons get to their feet on the outside, clearly infuriated at what just happened. A few unconcious ringside staff and a swarm of security later, they're eventually persuaded to head to the back.

JE

"Up next is the second of tonight's title matches, and i expect the title's name is going to be enacted! The INY Arena is going to be turned into a warzone, as two men known and respected for their brutal matches clash in a Last Man Standing Match. That's Genghis Rahn vs. Henry Lee, for the INY Warzone title, right now!"

Quote:
Genghis Rahn vs. Henry Lee

Jerry Eisen was once again right on the money, as this was easily the most brutal match to have yet been witnessed in INY's short history. Pretty much from the off weapons were utilised, with some horribly stiff chairshots going the way of each man in the opening minutes. But, true to their reputations, they kept on coming. It wasn't long 'til tables were introduced, with Henry Lee powerbombing Genghis through one in the centre of the ring. Never to be outdone, just five minutes later Rahn flew off the top rope to the outside, through a table, with Lee on his shoulders for one of the most impressive Rahn To The Hills in living memory. Even after that though, Lee got up after just a seven count. Genghis took this oppurtunity to take out a barbed wire bat, which for whatever reason had been left under the ring. Before long, both men had been on the receiving end of this, and blood was now streaming everywhere. Henry Lee had an ace up his sleeve however, as under the ring (where else?) was a sufficient quantity of lighter fluid and matches. He drenches the only unbroken table, sitting just outside the ring, and a few seconds later a fire is blazing. He heads back inside, and lays in a few punches to a barely able to stand Genghis. He prepares to throw him over the top - but Rahn won't go that easily. He resists, and catches Lee flush in the jaw with an elbow. Rahn leans on the ropes, as Lee bounces off the other side. He's charging towards him, presumably going to Madman Clothesline him over the top, but... Rahn ducks. And not long after, he stands straight back up, sending Lee flying over the top and straight into the flames. A scream is heard, and a still aflame Henry Lee rushes out of the depths of the heat. He collapses to the ground, eventually going out, but there is no fight left in him this time. A ten count is reached, and we have a INY Warzone Champion.
JE

"A war. An absolute war. If that's the first title match, I can't begin to imagine what the first defence will be like! But as for the here and now, Henry Lee gave Genghis a fight like he's never had before there. But it wasn't enough... and with that finish, surely his future in the business hangs in the balance."

TH

"I'm speechless... What a match! What a battle!"

JE

"And hard as it is to believe, that's not all! We've saved the best 'til last, and this is the big one, the one we've all been waiting for. In just a few moments, it's the INY World Title match!"

Backstage, Bart Biggz stands in his ring gear, slowly jogging on the spot. He stretches, clears his throat, then turns to the camera.

Bart Biggz

"Watch me Brett. Just watch me."

He heads off in search of the entrance ramp.

Elsewhere stands Stevie Grayson, unbelievably not in his ring gear yet despite his big match being seconds away. As ever, he's in shill mode.

Stevie Grayson

"Coming soon to a store near you, the officially liscensed by Stevie Grayson official Stevie Grayson action figure, with INY World Title accompaniment! It could be yours for the low, low price of just $9.99, after tonight!"

He winks at the camera, rips off his suit in one swift motion to reveal that he is in fact in his ring gear (a very modest set of trunks with his face emblazoned on the crotch), and heads out the door.

Quote:
Bart Biggz vs. Stevie Grayson vs. Travis Century vs. Whistler

All four men stare each other down, each one standing in an individual corner of the ring. It's eventually Travis Century who makes the first move, bellowing out "FOR SALVATIONNNNN!" before leaping forward and planting a forearm in Whistler's face. As they pair off, so too do Biggz and Grayson, and we have a very divided match: Two veterans facing off, and two of the 'newer generation' doing the same. And it's evenly matched for each, nobody getting a clear upper hand. The two splinter matches recombine eventually however, as Bart Biggz lands with a massive plancha on all three of the other men, ending up with everyone down and out on the floor. It's also Biggz who's the first to his feet, rolling back into the ring for a breather. Whistler follows him soon after however, and this time a clear advantage is to be had - and it's Whistler who takes it, scoring with the first elimination of the match.

Elimination #1: Bart Biggz

It's Stevie Grayson who's the next man in, and Travis Century takes the oppurtunity to rest on the outside. Whistler and Grayson go at it, but it's yet again Whistler who takes the upper hand against his younger foe, and before long it's down to two.

Elimination #2: Stevie Grayson

Travis Century climbs in, and there's a brief staredown before we go back to the even battle that they begun the match with. Century's lack of fatigue begins to show though, as Whistler lands less and less big moves, and instead starts taking them. At one point, it's the closest two-count in the world, and Whistler looks completely done for. But seemingly inspired by something, he staggers back to his feet, hits a Rebel Yell from out of nowhere, and scores the three count.

Elimination #3: Travis Century
JE

"We've got an INY World Champion, and it's Whistler! The veteran wins the day, he gets to take the big prize! This has been INY Revolution Begins, thank you for watching and goodnight!"
