SEPTEMBER 2017, WEEK 2...

Show Rating: 74 (due to a lack of storyline progression?)

Announce Team:

Peter Michaels, Tom Townsend and 'RDJ' Ricky Dale Johnson

We kicked off the show with an in-depth look at the upcoming 'Scramble Match' between 'Mainstream' James Hernandez and 'The Man Without Fear' Sonny Wildside, in which Hernandez will defend his NOTBPW Television Championship... The two fan favourites have been friends for a while, but this Saturday Night, they'll compete in the famous 'Scramble Match' at The Scramble 2017... A 20 minute contest with unlimited falls... and NO RULES!! The man who made the final fall when the time limit runs out, will be declared the winner, and walk out as NOTBPW Television Champion!!

James Hernandez has been on one heck of a run this year so far, but lost his first match since March just two weeks ago... Sonny Wildside mocked Hernandez for his loss, and 'Mr. Mainstream' stormed away, feeling disrespected... There will be no time for mockery, and disrespectfulness when The Scramble comes around... Hernandez needs to return to the form that made him unstoppable as NOTBPW Television Champion... But Wildside believes he can get in his opponent's head... He may already believe he's IN Hernandez's head... and 'The Man Without Fear' will take that confidence into this Saturday...

Wildside is also in action in our first contest... Taking on a man he's struggled against in the past: 'Shooter' Sean Deeley... The two have met twice before, and Deeley has won both times... They've been rivals for most of 2017, in a variety of tag team, and multi-person matches... but tonight, it's 1 on 1 again... And this time, Deeley only has Ernest Youngman in his corner... His other fellow 'Shooters': The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler) are away training, as they prepare for their upcoming huge match against Steve DeColt and Ricky DeColt at The Scramble...

w/
'No Fear' Sonny Wildside [vs] 'Shooter' Sean Deeley w/ Ernest Youngman

This was an excellent 1 on 1 match between these two, but it was let down by the finish of the battle. Sonny Wildside was setting up for his 'Fear Factor' (Moonsault Stomp) finisher, when James Hernandez's music hit, and the NOTBPW Television Champion arrived on the stage. Wildside's gaze was taken, and Sean Deeley was able to hop quickly up to the top rope and hit a Super German Suplex! Wildside somehow landed on his feet, and staggered back into the opposite corner. He then flew across the ring to deliver a flying knee into Deeley in the corner. But Deeley ducked, Wildside hit the turnbuckle, and Deeley was able to lock his rival in the 'Front Choke Lock', and he tapped out!

Winner: 'Shooter' Sean Deeley w/ Ernest Youngman
Rating: 74
Finish: 'Front Choke Lock'

James Hernandez strolled to the ring arrogantly, holding his Championship Belt on one shoulder, and a microphone in his other hand... Hernandez tried to make it look like he was thinking about what to say... But the smirk on his face told the real story... He knew exactly what he wanted to say... and he knew exactly what he was doing... He stood over the fallen Sonny Wildside, as the 22 year old struggled to his feet... Hernandez placed his Belt and microphone down on the mat, and looked to help Wildside to his feet... He pushed the youngster back, and then delivered a super kick right under his jaw!! If Wildside was hurt by the 'Front Choke Lock', he was knocked out by the super kick!! Hernandez then picked his Belt and microphone back up...

James Hernandez: “Last week kid... You disrespected the Champ... But you WON'T disrespect me again... Especially not at The Scramble... Because I'm smarter than you... I'm better than you... and this Saturday... I'm going to finish your little spunky run!!”

The Natural and Solomon Gold were backstage next, talking about their run as 'The American Blondes' so far... Natural said he was proud of Gold's accomplishments so far, and he's been an excellent tag team partner... The 21 year old is in his rookie year in the wrestling business, and has had to step into the shoes of Owen Love: The Natural's legendary former partner... Natural confirmed that tonight, after impressive singles outings against Sean Deeley, Ernest Youngman, Sonny Wildside and Hugh Ancrie, Gold will face possibly his biggest test... as he takes on another charismatic youngster: Aldous Blackfriar!!

w/
Thrill Seeker [vs] 'The Animal' Edd Stone w/ Tim Westybrook

Thrill Seeker and Edd Stone put on the match of the night here in their first time ever 1 on 1 encounter. Seeker has been working hard to not be left behind and forgotten about after his tag team partner Jacob Jett picked up a career threatening injury. Edd Stone on the other hand, is nowhere near being forgotten about! His new group, including his 'Enforcer' Tim Westybrook, look like a force to be reckoned with. And Edd was a force to be reckoned with himself in this match, eventually winning it with the 'Party's Over' Elbow Drop.

Winner: 'The Animal' Edd Stone w/ Tim Westybrook
Rating: 85
Finish: 'Party's Over' Elbow Drop

After the match, Ricky Dale Johnson stepped down from the announce desk, and told Edd Stone and his 'Enforcer' Tim Westybrook that they should stay in the ring, and listen... because he would announce the fourth member of his team of legends in a moment... But first, he called out his two other members of the team... Bryan Vessey, and 'The Ace' Aaron Andrews; the only member of the team under 46 years old...!! It could be argued that RDJ and Vessey are past their prime... in that they're in their mid-late forties... But the fourth member is even older... at 56, he's a former SWF World Champion... and has also held Titles in DeColt territory, in CGC... and his name... is Sam Keith!!

The incomparable Sam Keith received a heroes welcome from the fans in attendance here... They chanted his name and applauded him loudly... as Ricky Dale Johnson announced that Keith was the 'missing piece of the puzzle'... Now RDJ, Keith, Aaron Andrews and Bryan Vessey will battle Edd Stone's team of Tim Westybrook, Christian Price and Cameron Vessey, who is Bryan's nephew... The match will take place this Saturday, at The Scramble... and although Edd was confident when he challenged RDJ to find three partners, he now seems nervous and unsure... Particularly now that Keith was added into the mix!

We cut backstage next, to where 'The Hillbilly Heartthrob' Solomon Gold was walking down a corridor... The youngster then found himself staring at both Aldous Blackfriar and the menacing Mutant... The two charismatic 22 year olds stood stoic for a moment, with their heads lolled... They then lifted their heads, and glared at Gold... before springing into life and charging at him!! Gold tried to stand his ground and fight, but once Mutant got him in his grasp, he was no match for the big man's power!! The fight ended with Gold being tossed up and through a table covered in wires and equipment... His 1 on 1 match with Aldous Blackfriar looks very much in doubt now...

Wade Orson & Harrison Hash [vs] The Mavericks (John Maverick & Julian Watson)

Wade Orson and Harrison Hash have teamed up a few times now in NOTBPW, and they looked impressive here. They were up against a team who have been together over six months now, but they looked the more experienced unit at times! Orson has made a solid start to his career in Canada, and picked up a good win here using his awesome 'Bounce Back' finisher!

Winners: Wade Orson & Harrison Hash
Rating: 72
Finish: 'Bounce Back' (Kip Up DDT)

We cut to the stands as Wade Orson and Harrison Hash had their hands raised in victory, and we saw the veteran Canadian performer POISON stood with a grin on his face... The 40 year old applauded Orson for his win, and smiled eerily at his rival... Orson caught a glimpse of POISON way back in the tenth row... Orson dared POISON to come to the ring, but POISON slowly shook his head... He smiled again, and shouted that he'd see Orson this Saturday at The Scramble!!

'Wild Man' Jack DeColt was walking backstage next, when he came across Dan DaLay, Derek Frost, Logan, and Robin DaLay... Much like the Solomon Gold/Aldous Blackfriar and Mutant altercation earlier, things were tense for a moment, but Dan DaLay soon lightened the mood by wishing Jack DeColt luck this Saturday for his match against a currently unknown opponent... Before the conversation ended though, DaLay said he wanted a word with his old friend Jack... He put his arm around the DeColt brother, and the five men disappeared into a room, and closed the door behind them...
Peter Michaels: “Well what the heck was that all about...?!”
RDJ: “I have no idea Maggles!! No idea!! I doubt very much if Dan DaLay and co. will try to take Jack out... What would be the goal of that?!”
Tom Townsend: “Perhaps Dan DaLay is Jack's mystery opponent for The Scramble...?! It would be one heck of a way to gain an advantage ahead of this Saturday... A 4 on 1 assault backstage!!”

Speaking of backstage attacks to gain an unfair advantage, the guilty duo from earlier tonight: Aldous Blackfriar and Mutant headed to the ring next... Aldous was supposed to go 1 on 1 with Solomon Gold next, but Aldous and his bodyguard Mutant took Gold out in a brutal 2 on 1 attack!! Aldous said it's good that he and Mutant have the night off... because he has something to say... Before he could get his words out though, the music of Gold's partner: The Natural hit!! The Natural said that HE has something to say...

The Natural: “ALDOUS!! You wanna take out Solomon Gold...?! Well let's see if you can do that to ME...!! Right now!!”

w/
The Natural [vs] 'Dark Watch' Aldous Blackfriar w/ 'The King of the Wasteland' Mutant

This has to be Aldous Blackfriar's biggest match since signing for NOTBPW back in March. The Natural is a veteran competitor in Canada, as a former Television Champion, a former 4-time Tag Team Champion, and a former 3-time winner of the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup! However tonight this wasn't a fair fight for The Natural. The referee got a thumb in the eye late on, and it allowed Mutant to have an immediate and significant impact! He clotheslined The Natural, hard, and the veteran hit the floor. As Mutant exited the ring, and the referee turned around, Aldous Blackfriar was able to lock in the 'Batwing' and make his experienced opponent tap out!

Winner: 'Dark Watch' Aldous Blackfriar w/ 'The King of the Wasteland' Mutant
Rating: 74
Finish: 'Batwing' (Crossface Chickenwing)

'The Outsider' Steve DeColt and 'The Young Gun' Ricky DeColt headed to the ring together next... The unlikely duo have been on a role lately, and said they were looking forward to the challenge of facing such a well-established tag team as The Ring Generals this Saturday at The Scramble... Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler aren't here tonight due to extra training for their huge match, and Steve DeColt suggested that they need to train hard... Because when The DeColts are together, it'll take more than a bit of tag team continuity to stop them... His comments brought Waldorf and Statler's fellow 'Shooters' Sean Deeley and Ernest Youngman onto the stage!!

Sean Deeley had a microphone, and he defended his friends... He said that Steve DeColt and Ricky DeColt were overconfident... and that The Ring Generals would teach them a lesson!! And tonight, one of them will ALSO be taught a lesson... Deeley began to remove his Letterman jacket, and he threw it on the ground... But he said that he already competed tonight... So Ernest Youngman would be stepping up!! Youngman looked surprised, but shrugged and headed to the ring... Steve DeColt told Ricky DeColt that he'd be fighting Youngman... and Ricky left the ring...

w/
'The Outsider' Steve DeColt w/ Ricky DeColt [vs] 'The Assassin of the Squared Circle' Ernest Youngman

Steve DeColt and Ernest Youngman did some nice work in this contest, but Youngman was no match for the veteran DeColt brother. He had some good moments, and he even had DeColt in an ankle lock at one point, but 'The Outsider' is as experienced as they come, and he was able to find a way out of the move. Late on, on essentially one leg, Steve DeColt hit his 'DeColt Stampede' finisher and won the match!

Winner: 'The Outsider' Steve DeColt
Rating: 78
Finish: 'DeColt Stampede' (Big Boot)

We took a close look at the Montero Brothers next: Gino Montero and Luis Montero Jnr... Los Monteros were speaking as 'talking heads' about their wrestling careers so far... Gino has been in the business for 9 years now, and at the age of just 27 is a very experienced youngster... At 33, Luis Jnr is the older, and has been in the business for 15 years... Both men kicked off their careers at just 18 years of age... They spoke also about what makes them different from other wrestling families, like The Stones and The DeColts...

Gino Montero: “The major difference between us... and those other, huge, families... Is that we are solid... We are a unit... we will neeeeever split up... We're not just here to win the NOTBPW Tag Team Titles... We're here to win it all... We're here, to be the biggest... and best... FAMILY... in all of wrestling!! And next week, we have a special challenge to make...”

Angry Gilmore [vs] 'Mighty' Danny Cavanagh

To Danny Cavanagh, Angry Gilmore is in his way. 'Mighty' Cavanagh believes he's the man that's going to beat Gargantuan, after over 18 months undefeated, and become the NEW NOTBPW Canadian Champion. Therefore, for Cav, Gilmore shouldn't be heading to The Scramble to fight 'The Monster' for the Title. Cav had the chance to stop Gilmore here. Stop him long term, and take him OUT of the Scramble Main Event. Angry Gilmore is a resilient and scrappy competitor though, and despite being out-muscled and overpowered, he stayed in the fight! He somehow locked big Cavanagh in his 'Anger Management', and forced the big man to tap out!

Winner: Angry Gilmore
Rating: 79
Finish: 'Anger Management' (Arm Bar)

As Angry Gilmore had his hand raised, he held his mid-section and winced in pain... However, he also got ready for a fight, because 'The Monster' Gargantuan stomped to the ring holding his NOTBPW Canadian Championship... It was clear that Gargantuan could have grabbed Angry Gilmore right there and then, and ended the Main Event of The Scramble in a heartbeat! But for some reason, 'The Monster' seemed to show respect towards Gilmore... The two shared a lasting staredown as the show went off the air... and this Saturday, the two will close out The Scramble for the NOTBPW Canadian Title!!

Sean Deeley [def.] Sonny Wildside
Edd Stone [def.] Thrill Seeker
Wade Orson & Harrison Hash [def.] The Mavericks
Aldous Blackfriar [def.] The Natural
Steve DeColt [def.] Ernest Youngman
Angry Gilmore [def.] Danny Cavanagh

SOTBPW have signed their second SWF star... as 41 year old 'Big Money' Brandon James has joined their ranks, where he'll compete as 'Big Cat Brandon'... But the biggest news of the week, and possibly the signing of the YEAR has gone to USPW, who have brought former TCW and 21CW star Tommy Cornell across to their Main Event ranks!! He'll join the likes of Remo, Steve Frehley, Sean McFly, James Justice, Rich Money, Rocky Golden, Enygma and Rogue at the very top of the company...
