Week 3, September 1997
Mackey Arena (West Lafayette, Indiana)
ATT: 12,585
TV: 18.28
Announce Team: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Mike Tenay

Quote:

Before the opening credits roll tonight we are treated to a brief shot of the Titans of Wrestling pulling up to the arena in a huge black limousine, all smiles and laughter as the group exit the vehicle, congratulating each other, as the opening graphics finally roll.......

.....after which the show opens up properly at the announce position, where Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Mike Tenay welcome us to the show in a much more somber mood than the Titans of Wrestling are in.....

.....they briefly talk about the Pay Per View from last night (including the blockbuster announcement that yes, The Rock is indeed in WCW) before discussing the fact that while Team WCW, and specifically Lex Luger, had that match won last night.....and the ONLY reason that the Titan's of Wrestling are celebrating, is because WCW imploded under the weight of a Giant Ego.....and the Titans once again used the numbers advantage to cheat their way to victory..........

.....and speaking of the Titans of Wrestling.....here they come.....

.....and they're full of smiles as they strut confidently to the ring (with the exception of the Warrior, who hasn't smiled once since adopting this new "darker" persona)....Hollywood is leading the way, cockily playing air guitar on the WCW Championship belt.....while the rest of the Titans bring up the rear, with both Jean Paul Levesque and Randy Savage sporting head dressings that hide their battle scars after both men were busted open last night....

.....Vince Russo takes a microphone, to declare that today is a very good day to be a Titan.....he says that Team WCW was vanquished, and along with it, all the hopes and dreams of anyone EVER taking this WCW Title away from Hollywood......

"......because Sting....he's outta the picture.....and since Team WCW just couldn't get along last night, then NONE of them get the next shot against Hollywood......which really doesn't leave the Champ with any viable challengers now does it.......so Hollywood, I think it's safe to say bro......that you can take the month off......"

....the crowd aren't happy about that....and they're even less happy when Hollywood takes the microphone....he says that tonight, he's a very happy Hollywood.....

".....because my Titan's brother, they went to war last night.....they went deep into the enemy territory and they walked out the other side victorious......because we're a brotherhood.....a unit.....all for one and one for all, and that all, is to make sure that this WCW Title stays with the Titans of Wrestling Dudes.....

.....now everybody went above and beyond last night jack.....but let's take a minute to properly acknowledge the new blood.....the new Titans, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, two of the biggest Hollywoodmaniacs in the world, who showed exactly what they are made of last night jack......and The Enforcer.....Ray Traylor, who along with the new blood carried out the master plan to perfection.....

.....and then there's Buff Bagwell.....the man with the SECOND largest arms in the world brother....who showed exactly why we picked him to wear the Titan colours.....

.....then you've got the other two thirds of the Holy Trinity man.....The Warrior....The Macho Man.....the backbone of the Titans of Wrestling.....

.....and last but not least, the man that went bell to bell last night.....the man that gave blood for thirty straight minutes brother....the man that made sure that this WCW Title is staying right where it is.....the General in Arms.....Jean Paul Levesque......"

.....Hogan says that thanks to Levesque beating Diamond Dallas Page so badly "that his old lady had to throw the towel in for him" then Hollywood will gracefully accept that month off, safe in the knowledge that there aren't any contenders left for at least the next thirty days.....

".....actually..........about that......"

.....apparently the face of the Championship Committee has something to say on the matter......because Eric Bischoff comes walking out onto the entrance ramp (which is has far as he goes, because a ring full of Titan's and a WCW representative just don't mix).....he says that while the Titans may have won the match (in the most dubious manner possible) that hardly means that that Hollywood will not be defending the Championship......because he WILL be defending the WCW Title.....and he'll be defending it at Halloween Havoc.....

"....I said if a member of Team WCW won the match then they would become the number one contender, but this isn't a Sting situation.....there was no stipulation in place that said if they lost that they weren't able to compete for the Championship....which is why tonight, we are going to determine the man that Hogan will be facing at Halloween Havoc.....and I can't think of two more deserving contenders........."

".......wait a minute, wait a minute.....lemme guess bro.....see I can read you like a book....it's gonna be......Luger and The Giant right? You're getting boring bro....."

".......no Vince, it is most certainly NOT Lex Luger and The Giant.....two men who did more harm than good last night.......no, the first competitor is going to be a man that showed the world exactly how much heart he has.....exactly how much passion he has......and exactly how much fight he has...................Diamond Dallas Page......"

.....the Titans actually openly laugh at that.....saying Page lost so much blood last night that he probably can't even stand today....he's no doubt got his old lady looking after him, just like he did last night.....Bischoff says he's already spoken to Dallas.....and while he is certainly nowhere near 100%, he is absolutely ready to compete tonight......

.....Hogan is surprisingly fine with that pick, telling Bischoff to make Chris Benoit the other contender while he's at it, before mocking the two men supposedly not fit to kiss Hollywood Hogan's boots.....

.....Bischoff allows the laughter to die down, telling the Titans that no, Chris Benoit put on a career defining display last night.....a display he IS being rewarded for later this evening when he competes for the United States Championship......but no.....the other competitor is another man that showed true fighting spirit....passion.....a never say die attitude......

"....and that man.................is Jean Paul Levesque......"

.....that throws the Titans into a stunned silence, as Bischoff says that both Page and Levesque left it all in the ring last night (including a good amount of their own blood) they were both involved in the start f the match and were both still there fighting at the finish.....which is tonight, they will fight once more.....and the winner will face Hollywood Hogan at Halloween Havoc.....for the WCW Championship......

.....eventually Hogan says that Bischoff must have lost his damn mind......he says that's fine, because when the General, Jean Paul Levesque crushes Diamond Dallas Dud tonight, Hollywood may as well as have Halloween Havoc off......because Levesque will do what's right for the Titans when the time comes......lay down In the middle of that ring.....and give Hollywood the easiest three count of his life.......

.....Bischoff just smiles at that, saying "we'll see", before turning and heading to the back, leaving all the Titan's looking pretty confident.......although to be fair, Levesque looks more thoughtful than confident, as the realisation of the situation begins to sink in.

Our first match of the evening sees two teams competing, neither of which had the results they were looking for last night......the Nasty Boys had visions of sticking it to the Titans of Wrestling, and in particular Adam Copeland and Christian Cage......that didn't happen......while Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain had visions of standing here tonight as the WCW Tag Team Champions......that didn't happen either, although you can thank Cage and Copeland for that too.....

....so what you're looking at here are two frustrated teams looking to get back into the Tag Title scene, neither of which wants to follow up one disappointing night with another....

.....obviously given the competitors involved, this was never going to be a classic, but it was good enough for what it was.....Mike Awesome is decent enough in ring, and Gideon Cain is actually improving steadily (thanks to Bobby Eaton who is passing on tips and advice on seemingly a weekly basis).....the Nasty Boys are the Nasty Boys, and while they aren't the greatest workers in the world they can certainly brawl and have the name value.....

......tonight however they are taking that name value, and using it to give the rub to the newbies, after Cain finishes off Saggs with the 'East of Eden' (Cross Rhodes).

Winner(s): Mike Awesome & Gideon Cain

Missy is quickly into the ring to congratulate her men....and she has a microphone in her hand....she says that last night, her men were robbed out of what is rightfully theirs....they were robbed out of the WCW Tag Team Titles, and they want another shot.....

"....because Road Warriors, those little Titans of Wrestling might have saved your belts for you last night, but Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain will not be denied......and as far as Adam Copeland and Christian Cage go, you two sure are cute....you got those boyish good looks....that pretty blonde hair.....but darlings, if you wanna stay pretty, you're gonna want to stop ticking off these two men right here......"

......well wouldn't you know it, out from the crowd behind Missy's Monsters come Copeland, Cage and Ray Traylor.....the trio caused plenty of trouble last night, and they look like they're planning to continue that right here as they attack Awesome and Cain from behind.....

.....everywhere Ray Traylor goes, his trusty nightstick isn't far behind, and he nails first Awesome, then Cain in the back of the head, leaving his two Canadian Cohorts to stomp on the downed duo......

.....Missy squeals and drops the mic as she makes a hasty retreat from the ring....a microphone that Christian picks up.....he tells Missy that she is totally cute, but she's totally dumb if she thinks her monkeys here are getting anywhere near those titles before the Titans of Wrestling.....

"......after all, they're looking kind of sleepy down there....you really wanna start letting these boys get their beauty sleep, because they look wiped out......"

.....the three Titans laugh at that, giving both Awesome and Cain another few stomps before Christian makes it official.....challenging The Road Warriors to a Tag Title Contest at Halloween Havoc......

.......they don't have to wait long for a response either.....because Hawk and Animal are here.....

......Hawk says that he and Animal, they don't care who they beat up first.....Awesome and Cain, or Copeland and Cage....in fact.....why don't they beat them both up at the same time.....Hawk says that at Halloween Havoc, it's come one come all, step right up to the Road Warrior's Sideshow of pain and misery.....he says that he and Animal, they'll put the titles on the line against BOTH teams at once......just like right now, they're gonna beat up both teams at once....."and your little bodyguard too".....before tossing the microphone to one side.....

.....the Road Warriors run down the aisle, just as Awesome and Cain are getting back to their feet....and suddenly we have a wild brawl breaking out....and as Doug Dillinger and the crew try and break it up, Schiavone sends us to a commercial break while we try and get these three teams separated.

Our next match sees the undefeated Rookie Monster Bill Goldberg in action again, fresh of his tag team victory last night over the Amazing French Canadians.....and when you pick up as many wins in succession as Goldberg has, you start running out of traditional opponents.....which is why we have this face vs. face, hoss vs. hoss match.....as the newcomer faces off against the veteran, The Warlord.....

.....as you would expect, the match itself wasn't very good.....in fact it sucked.....but the visual of these two big bulls butting heads was something else all together......as was the sight of the undefeated Goldberg spearing the Warlord in half, before hoisting the 300lb+ former Power of Pain high overhead with the Jackhammer, before slamming him to the mat for the one, the two and the three in around 3:45

Winner: Bill Goldberg

It's time to shill the Hotline (1-900-909-9900) as Scheme Gene makes his way out into the aisleway....he tells everyone to call right now for a rundown of all last nights action, as well of all the rumours surrounding a huge arrival here in World Championship Wrestling.....want to know more? Just choose option 3.......

.....now he's paid the bills he calls out his next guests, the two men that between them may well have cost WCW the match last night.....Lex Luger and The Giant....

.....the pair make their way out, and while these two ARE friends, the tension between them is obvious.....Gene says that last night, Lex Luger was moments away from forcing Buff Bagwell to submit to the Torture Rack, until the Giant deliberately broke up the hold........and then, when the Giant had Hollywood Hogan trapped inside the bearhug, it was Lex Luger that broke up that potentially winning situation......Gene says that had they simply worked together, Team WCW could have come out with the win, instead they were so focused on themselves becoming the number one contender to the WCW Title, that now NEITHER of them is the number one contender.....in fact, they're not even in contention to BECOME the number one contender.....

.....Luger at least seems remorseful for his actions last night....apologising to the fans and Eric Bischoff for letting them (and WCW) down, before saying that while he's rooting for Diamond Dallas Page tonight, he's going to do everything in his power to prove that he's a worthy number one contender....and he WILL Challenge for that Championship again one day.....

.....the Giant takes the microphone away, asking Lex if he isn't forgetting something?.....Luger looks to be confused by that question, asking Giant what he means?.....

"....well you apologised to the fans.....you apologised to Bischoff............aren't you forgetting someone?....."

.....Giant says that he had that match won until Lex Luger broke up his submission attempt.....he says not only did Luger cost WCW the match, he cost the Giant the chance to become the number one contender.....so maybe he should apologise to HIM.....

......Lex tells the Giant that the ONLY reason that he lost his temper and broke up the Giants submission attempt, was because the Giant deliberately broke up his Torture Rack moments before.....and never mind an apology, the fact that he and the Giant are friends is the ONLY reason that Lex Luger isn't kicking his ass right now......Lex says that he put all his own plans of Championship opportunities to one side when The Giant was having problems with Mike Awesome, Gideon Cain, Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader, and he did that to help out his friend....and if this is the thanks he gets, maybe it's the Giant who should be apologising to HIM.....

.....obviously the Giant doesn't take too kindly to that, telling Luger that if he thinks he can kick the Giant's ass to go ahead and try.....because he doesn't think he can......

......the two men square up to each other, but before the pair can come to blows Eric Bischoff comes walking out from the back.....

.....he tells them that he's seen enough, and this petty squabbling is exactly why Diamond Dallas Page is in contention to become the number one contender tonight....he says the pair embarrassed WCW enough last night, but if they really want to kick each other's asses so badly they can do it on Pay Per View......at Halloween Havoc......and once they beat this petty squabbling out of each other, then maybe they can get back to concentrating on the real problem around here.....the Titans of Wrestling.

It's back down to the ring now, where Fit Finlay is about to square off with the Pride of Canada, Lance Storm.....Finlay was involved in a knockdown drag out fight with Steven Regal last night.....a fight that he arguably only lost because of the distraction of the Blue Bloods and a pair of brass knuckles around Regal's fist......Storm on the other hand was victorious last night over ring veteran Rick Martel, and in fairness to him, he won that match clean as a whistle.....

.....considering that he's only around four months away from his 40th birthday, Lance Storm is quick to point out that much like Jim Duggan and Rick Martel, Fit Finlay should be stepping to one side to make room for the next generation....but it's ok, because just like with Jim Duggan and Rick Martel, if he doesn't want to STEP to one side, Lance Storm will MOVE him to one side.....

.....this match only went around 8 minutes, but it was still pretty good....Lance Storm is still relatively new to the mainstream spotlight, but he's certainly being showcased more since his move to WCW, and being surrounded with veterans is only going to help him improve.....his win/loss record is pretty impressive too.......and it only gets better here tonight.......

......because once again the Blue Bloods make their way out....acting as the distraction which allows his Lordship, Steven Regal to slide into the ring once more with those brass knuckles, which he uses to knock Finlay out with a hard rabbit punch to the back of the head.....Finlay goes down in a heap, Storm makes the cover......the ref turns around......and Lance Storm picks up another win.

Winner: Lance Storm

The Blue Bloods enter the ring, where Regal congratulates Lance Storm on a job well done, offering him a hearty handshake.....Storm accepts the congratulations, although his eyes do linger on the Television Championship around Regal's waist for a few seconds longer than they should, before he turns and heads to the back as Regal grabs a microphone......

.....he tells the unconscious Finlay that this is what happens when he brings the Television Championship into disrepute......

"......this Championship is a Championship befitting a gentleman.....a WRESTLING Championship, and you had me out here brawling like some bloody street urchin.....well rest assured sunshine, that won't be happening again....and may this thrashing serve as a reminder of exactly what happens when a ruffian like you tries to tangle with a Gentleman like myself......Earl Robert, Duke Douglas.....if you would be so kind......"

.....with that Regal walks nonchalantly off to the back, leaving Eaton and Williams to deliver that thrashing for him, as we air a commercial for Halloween Havoc.

Or next match sees Rikishi Fatu taking on the Titans of Wrestling's Buff Bagwell.....Rikishi comes in tonight fresh off a disappointing defeat at the hands of the United States Champion, Eddie Guerrero last night, while Buff Bagwell came out on the winning team in the War Games encounter.....of course, while Buff is riding a big wave of momentum following that victory, he's also pretty damn damaged up.....and while Rikishi lost last night, he took nowhere near the amount of damage that Buff did.....

.....the two men certainly had an even contest, and while Buff was still his usual cocky self, he was nowhere near at 100%.....and even less so after getting squashed with a big Samoan Drop.....and after dragging Bagwell to the corner and crushing the life out of him with the Samoan Splash (Banzai Drop) Buff had no chance of kicking out.....your winner.....Rikishi.

Winner: Rikishi Fatu
Rating: B

Quote:

Although Rikishi's celebration is cut short by some unfamiliar music.....but not unfamiliar faces....because Kevin Sullivan, Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Van Vader all make their way out from the back and walk down the aisle.....and not only are they coming out as a unit, they are all clad in a black shirt with the same symbol on it......

......a symbol depicting three interlocking triangles enclosed within a circle......

......Rikishi looks a little bit confused as to why this trio are making their way out.....but as they enter the ring.....and Vader runs straight through him with a huge clothesline out of nowhere......

......the three men put the boots to the (rather undeserving) Rikishi, before (in an impressive feat of strength given the Samoan's size) Vader picks up the big man and hangs him upside down in the corner, Tree of Woe style.....Sullivan backs up to the opposite corner, before charging across the ring and driving the full force of his body into Fatu.....

.....Rikishi slumps to the mat, where Sullivan delivers the Double Foot Stomp as Bigelow climbs to the top, where he comes flying off with that Diving Headbutt.....you'd think that would be enough, but no.....because the three men drag Rikishi back to his feet before Bam Bam and Sullivan give Vader a helping hand to slam their victim into the mat with a massive Powerbomb....

.....you'd pretty much need to scrape Rikishi up off the mat following that, but thankfully the trio appears to be finished.....with the action anyway, because Sullivan picks up a microphone.....

.....he tells the crowd that what you see before you now is the greatest group of destructors assembled in the history of, well....ever.....he says that for the last six months he's been directionless.....lost.....a man without a mission.....He says that for two years, his sole purpose for being was to work towards ONE single goal.....end Hulkamania.....single handedly....with Alliances.....with Dungeons.....nothing worked.....and then, after taking everything away from Sullivan, Hogan took one final thing.....he took Hulkamania.....and he killed it himself by forming the Titans of Wrestling......but he knows why he failed now....he knows where he went wrong....he aligned himself with the misfits and the rejects....the never-were's and the never will be's.....but no more.....he has a new goal....a new direction.....and a new alliance.....

".......this isn't a Dungeon of Doom....THIS is the Valknut (pronounced Vaal-K-Not) and we will not be denied....."

.....Sully says that the word Valknut is a Norse word comprising of two parts.....and both parts are relevant here.....with the "Knut" being the Norse word for knot.....which is what he, Bam Bam and Vader are.....one unit, each man represented by one of the interlocked triangles, tied together in a common goal......while the Nordic word "Valr" is the very essence of what their current objective is......

"......because the word Valr loosely translates as the "Slain Warriors"......and that's exactly what we three have been.....slain by politics....slain by positioning.....and slain by Hulk Hogan....."

......Sullivan says that before the Hulkamania Express rolled into town in 1994, a man like Big Van Vader was ruling the WCW with an iron fist.....a monster....a myth.....a mastodon.......reduced to a laughing stock in a matter of months.....

......he says that Bam Bam Bigelow exceeded all possible expectations when he captured the WCW Championship last year....the pinnacle of his career.....his crowning moment.....until he too was reduced to the number two position......second to last on the card.....the WCW Champion and Championship in the SEMI main event.....the WCW Champion and Championship STILL playing second fiddle to Hulk Hogan.....and then, when it was time.....when he'd filmed all the TV Shows and all the movies, "Hollywood" Hogan took that Title right back......and Bam Bam Bigelow's championship reign was quickly brushed under the rug and forgotten about......

".......and then there was me......the Taskmaster....the Gamesmaster.....call me what you will, it really doesn't matter anymore, because that identity was slain.....gone were the days of the Varsity Club....gone were the real athletes.....instead I just became Cannon fodder for the unstoppable red and yellow machine.....as Hogan and his pals run roughshod through World Championship Wrestling, dragging the cartoon era right in behind him.......brick by brick, athlete by athlete, this once great WRESTLING organisation was reduced to nothing more than a Saturday Morning Cartoon, as Hogan's original Titans of Wrestling burst into WCW.....except these, these were Titan's Rejects......Jim Duggan's, Honky Tonk Men, Nasty Boys, Kamala's.....even Booty Men and Macho Men followed......"

......Sully says he lived through it once.....he's not prepared to live through it again....and if he can't kill Hulkamania, then he'll do the next best thing....he'll kill the result of Hulkamania.....because just like in 1994, it's all happening again.....as person after person from "the other guys" comes waltzing into WCW......waltzing into WCW and taking title shots that they don't deserve.....Jeff Hardy's.....Rikishi Fatu's.......The Rock's.......well it stops, and it stops now.....

".....no more will we be laughing stocks.....no more will we be jokes.....no more will we be after thoughts playing second fiddle.....and no more will we be fodder to ANY Titan Rejects......this is WCW.....and the Big Boys are right here.....this time we're gonna show you all......how the Bad Boys Play....."

.....with that Sullivan throws down the microphone, as he and the rest of the newly christened Valknut head to the back.

Our next match is in all honesty, somewhat of a mismatch....Yoshihiro Tajiri is a hell of a talent, unfortunately his popularity has yet to catch up with his potential.....while his opponent tonight (under his current gimmick anyway) is on a bit of a roll as of late, not only purging the company of the "ultimate imposter" the Renegade, but most recently (just last night in fact) knocking off the highly popular Jeff Hardy.....even if he did have to cave Hardy's skull in with that creepy skull jester cane to do it.....

.....unsurprisingly Mortis didn't have much problems in putting young Tajiri away this evening either....and he didn't even have to cheat to do so....finishing his opponent off with the Flatliner right in the middle of the ring.

Winner: Mortis

Quote:

James Vandenberg snatches a microphone up from ringside, before joining his client in the ring....he says that last night, the purification of WCW continued, as the young pretender was shown exactly what happens when a boy steps into a man's world.....

.....as for Tajiri here, while Vandenberg says that he bears no real ill will towards the Japanese competitor, sometimes it's just necessary to cleanse the palate in order to remove a particularly unpleasant taste, and there is no more unpleasant taste, than the taste of wasted youth.....so to cleanse the palate of Jeff Hardy, Yoshihiro Tajiri must pay the price......

.....with that Vandenberg gives the signal, and Mortis drags Tajiri to his feet, before launching the defenceless competitor into the corner, where he proceeds to pummel him with punches and kicks, until his manager finally hands him that cane that caused so much damage last night.....

......to this man funnily enough.....

......and obviously Hardy is looking to save Tajiri from the same fate that he suffered last night, as he comes running down the aisle and into the ring, snatching the Jester Cane from the hands of Mortis and swinging it wildly at the head of the masked man, who fortunately (for him) is able to avoid the blow, before quickly bailing to the outside and back up the ramp, as Hardy hurls the cane (and many unbroadcastable insults) at him as he goes.

Our next match is not only a Championship match, but also a reward of sorts....a reward to Chris Benoit for his performance last night, where not only did he fight his heart out for World Championship Wrestling, but he did so in an unselfish and professional manner...unlike some of his team mates.....and while I'm sure Chris Benoit would rather be competing for the WCW Championship right now, he's still going to fight his heart out for the prestigious United States Championship.....a Championship that he has never held......

......of course that's going to be easier said than done....because (much like Buff Bagwell earlier in the evening) not only is Benoit still pretty banged up from last night, but his opponent is a man who doesn't seem to be in any hurry to relinquish the Championship any time soon, having already turned away challenges from competitors such as Jeff Hardy and Rikishi Fatu in recent weeks, and that man's name is Eddie Guerrero.....

.....these two guys had a hell of a match, but it was hampered by the limitations to Chris Benoit, who after going through an eight on one beating inside a steel cage, a Steel Cage WCW Title match, AND a War Games match in the space of less than two weeks, was selling the fatigue of that like a superstar....and truth be told, really had Guerrero on the back foot here, even dropping the Champion with a stiff looking high back suplex, before heading up top and coming off with that patented Diving Headbutt.....Eddie Guerrero however isn't averse to stretching the rules, and as Benoit soars through the air, he drags hold of the official and pulls him down on top of himself, meaning it's the referee that eats the brunt of the punishment.......

.....which is when the Macho Man Randy Savage inexplicably comes running down the aisle....

.....Benoit is bent over attempting to revive the official, which is why he doesn't see Savage coming.....it's also why Macho is able to mount the corner behind him, before coming flying off with a Double Ax Handle to the back of Benoit's neck, who goes down like a shot....

.....the commentators question Savages motives here, stating that while the Titans of Wrestling often do however they see fit, there's usually an underlying reason for it, and considering the fact that the Titans WON last night, this assault seems a little unnecessary......although Savage soon sheds some light on the matter, telling a nearby camera that Chris Benoit made the Macho Man bleed.....he drew blood on a member of the Holy Trinity....and he signed his death warrant in the process.....

......Macho heads back up top, points both arms straight up high in the air........before dropping that patented Flying Elbow right to the heart of Benoit.....

......Eddie is obviously happy to seize on this opportunity, as he too heads up top, before driving his full weight down with the Frog Splash, and making the cover.....just as the official begins to come back around.....and while it does take some time (he WAS just knocked stupid with a diving heat butt after all) it's good enough for the one, the two......and the three.....Eddie Guerrero survives again.

Winner: .....and Still WCW United States Champion.....Eddie Guerrero
Rating: B

Quote:

Considering the fact that he practically had this match handed to him by Randy Savage, Eddie is pretty cocky about the victory, and once Benoit has left the ring and headed to the back (he's not THAT cocky obviously) he grabs a microphone to declare that he's done it again....he says that he's the hardest working Champion here in WCW....he says that while a handful of people are bickering about who gets the next shot at Hollywood Hogan, the United States Championship is the belt that EVERYBODY wants. He says he barely has time to celebrate a victory before the next contender is walking out here demanding a match.....

".....just like that little Rock Star wannabe last night.....hey Rocky, you wanna shot at this title holmes, you gotta do more than just show up.....you might think you're some big star EsŤ, but this is WCW, this ain't New York.....and in WCW, Eddie Guerrero is the benchmark.....Eddie Guerrero is the man.....and YOU....you don't get to just walk in the door and demand a title shot no more.....Jeff Hardy tried that last month, didn't work.....your fat uncle cousin tried last night Vato, didn't work for him either.....you want a shot at Eddie Guerrero's Title, you're gonna have to earn it esŤ......but if you just want slapping around a little bit, I'm right here Holmes....."

.....Eddie Guerrero is calling out the Rock....although as Tony Schiavone points out, he called him down for a fight last night too, and by the time the Rock hit then ring, Eddie was long gone.....

......it seems the The Rock doesn't need asking twice, and he walks out onto the stage with a microphone in hand, looking every inch the mega star that he thinks he is.....and this crowd goes wild....

......he pauses for a moment to soak in the adoration of the fans, pushing his sunglasses down his nose and raising one eyebrow in appreciation as they chant his name....he brings the microphone to his lips, but before he says a word he drops it again....removes his designer shirt and drops that....takes off the designer glasses and places them on the ground.....and without ever taking his eyes from Guerrero, he simply begins walking towards the ring, clearly not wanting to give Eddie the opportunity to bail on him again......

......not that he gets far.....because Kevin Sullivan, Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Van Vader....the Valknut, come bursting out of the back....and all three of them blindside The Rock, much as the did with Rikishi earlier....Rocky tries to fight back, and he does get a few good shots in on each of the three men in turn....but he gets shut down after Bigelow whips him violently into the safety barrier, which he follows up with a charging body splash that crushes The Rock hard against the steel.....

......not content with that however, Vader drags The Rock back into the centre of the aisle....picks him up.....and Powebombs him straight down onto that metal entrance ramp.....

......damage done the Valknut leave, and as a bunch of medical personal come running out to attend to the Rock, Eddie Guerrero smirks on from the ring, as we go to commercial ahead of our main event match.

Number One Contenders Match

And that main event is happening right now, as Diamond Dallas Page and Jean Paul Levesque go one on one to determine the Challenger for Hollywood Hogan's WCW Championship at Halloween Havoc.....and if you thought Buff Bagwell and Chris Benoit were still suffering from their War Games encounter just 24 hours ago, neither of them have got anything on Page and Levesque, both of whom started (and ended) the War Games match, and pretty much bled for a solid 30 minutes......

.....after throwing the towel in to save her husband last night, Kimberly is once again accompanying Page to ringside, while Levesque has of all people, Hollywood Hogan in his corner.....a fact that Tony Schiavone is not happy about, stating that Hogan is here to ensure that his Titan Team mate wins that number one contenders match, giving him the easiest title defence of his life when Jean Paul Levesque simply lays down for him at Halloween Havoc.....

.....it certainly appears as though that is the plan too, because Hogan certainly gets involved on numerous occasions, most notably after Page catches Levesque with the Diamond Cutter, and Hogan drapes Jean Paul's leg over the bottom rope before the ref can count three.....

.....even with all the blatant interference from Hogan (and the fact that Page is still stuck in the upper midcard) this is still a pretty good match....the two have met before, and Page DOES hold a victory over Levesque, a fact that Schiavone gleefully points out while gushing about the heart and spirit of Diamond Dallas Page.....in the end however, Page is virtually fighting two men.....and despite another valiant effort, much like last night it's Levesque that comes out on top, dropping Page in the middle of the ring with the Pedigree for the one, the two and the three.

Winner: Jean Paul Levesque

Hogan rolls into the ring to congratulate Levesque, kicking Page out of the ring and down to the floor in the process, as the rest of the Titans join the pair in the ring.....the whole group congratulate Levesque on a job well done, as Hogan grabs a microphone, cackling like a madman at Eric Bischoff's "genius" plan.....he tells Bischoff that he really must be as stupid as he looks if he thought Doofus Dallas Page had ANY chance of winning this one.....

"......and now brother, Hollywood is going to go on to Halloween Havoc, where he's going to break a new record, defending this title in about, oh I don't know brother.....three and a half seconds? Because with the General, Jean Paul laying right there in the middle of the ring, it's gonna take Hollywood all of half a second to get down and make the cover, for the easiest match of his life brother......"

.....the rest of the Titans are laughing away like arrogant hyena's in the background at this revaluation, as Hogan continues to gloat......he tells Bischoff that he may as well just given him that month off to go home and work on his tan.....

"....because while your little Team WCW falls apart, bickering like school kids, the Titans of Wrestling have never been stronger jack.....this is one for all, and all for Hollywood, when the General hands the match to ME............so what you gonna do Bischoff.....when J.P takes the dive on you, ha ha ha ha........."

......Hogan continues to laugh it up....and so do the rest of the Titans.....Levesque isn't laughing however, and he quickly takes the microphone from Hollywood to let him know one thing......

"......that's not how it's going to go down Hulk......"

.....that one statement stops all the laughter in its tracks, as the Titans all turn to Levesque.....

......all for one and one for all for Hollywood, that doesn't really work for me brother.....I had the chance to face you for that title once before, and YOU made sure it didn't happen....THIS time, the match is signed.....the match IS happening.....and as a good friend of mine once said, I'm not laying down for nobody.....and if the plan really is for that Championship to be in the possession of the Titans of Wrestling, then it shouldn't matter WHICH Titan of Wrestling is holding it.....so no Hulk, at Halloween Havoc, that match isn't going to go three and a half seconds, because I'm going into that match with ONE sole purpose.....to walk OUT as the new WCW Champion.....brother....."

......with that Levesque hands the microphone back to the shell shocked Hogan, before turning and dropping out of the ring, walking all the way up the aisle and through the entrance way with out so much as a backwards glance, as the stunned looking Titans of Wrestling watch him leave, and the show comes to a close.
